too lazy to draw one of those ‘my fave dynamics’ things but
middle aged coworkers who act like a divorced couple
middle aged coworkers who act like an old married couple
the “we both have commitment issues so let’s just keep this casual” to “i keep a spare toothbrush at your place and i think i’m in love with you” pipeline
wretched bastard with intimacy issues and The Sun™
charming extrovert with self worth issues and the person who sees straight through their bullshit
“we are at a serious moral impasse but i still desire you carnally”
highly competent mutually pining idiots going for a slow burn world record
“we’re both too exhausted for a relationship right now but maybe once we save the world we can talk about our feelings”

me, helping a little girl pick out a locket at the shop: do you usually like to wear goldtone or silvertone?
little girl: I like silver because of Artemis, the goddess of the moon and the hunt and also she’s a warrior and she never got married.
me, internally: never let the world change you

I'm really tired of people on social media saying things like "being silent on an issue means you side with the oppressors" like yes this is true in an abstract sense and is true in a more definite sense if we were all celebrities with large platforms and someone was interviewing us and they asked us about some political issue directly and we said "no comment" but choosing to exist on social media without endlessly discussing every political issue happening throughout the entire world does not mean you stand with oppressors, it means you're just living your life and focusing your energy (mostly offline!!!!!!!) to the few causes and issues most important to you, and that's entirely okay... enough with the fake woke guilt-tripping

"But how do you know you won't like this food until you've tried it?"
If I eat a Bad Sensory Food, every cell in my body rejects it. The mere possibility of something being a Bad Sensory Food is enough to keep me away. It's not just picky eating, I physically can't force myself to consume some things.
I remember one time my family tricked me into eating fish by telling me it was chicken and I damn near cried because of the texture and taste. Didn't cure my sensory issues, by the way.

Ok so I've found a way to describe what Neurodivergent Can't Do Task Mode™ feels like to neurotypicals
So you know how you can't make yourself put your hand down on a hot stovetop? There's a part of your brain that stops you from doing that? That's what Neurodivergent Can't Do Task Mode™ feels like
Even if we want to do it, there's a barrier stopping us from doing it, and it's really hard to override
And why does our brain see the task as a hot stovetop? Because when neurotypicals finish a task, they get serotonin, but we don't get that satisfaction after completing a task. A neurotypical wouldn't get serotonin from putting their hand on a hot stovetop, it would just hurt. When we can't do a task, it's because our brain knows that the task will hurt (metaphorically) and wants to avoid that.
It's not that we're choosing not to do the task, it's that our brain is physically preventing us from doing it.
Neurotypicals can and should reblog but please don't add anything
(Sorry/not sorry about the random bolding, it makes it easier for us to read)

hey you know what's really FUCKING annoying? the fact that the only type of neurodivergent trauma anyone ever talks about is gifted kid syndrome.
i'm not trying to say that being a burnt out former gifted kid isn't terrible, i mean hell, i even relate to some of it what with having above average reading skills as a kid. but there are other things we need to talk about as well. like the troubled kids.
i was only allowed to stay in kindergarten if my mom was there with me to prevent me from having violent meltdowns, i would screech wordlessly when feeling pretty much any strong emotion and i didn't grow out of it until i was almost 11, and i ended up getting kicked out of 4th grade.
no matter how hard i tried, nothing i did or said ever resulted in praise or even acceptance from people around me. at a certain point, around 7 or 8, i just stopped trying and it wasn't until i was diagnosed with autism and put into a special ed classroom that i even moderately succeeded in math.
'troubled' and 'stupid' kids are significantly more common in neurodivergent communities and the fact that only gifted kids are talked about just strikes me as kinda suspicious considering that autistic people in our society are only considered valuable if we're quirky geniuses and ADHD experiences are only taken seriously if we're #relatable.
i'm not saying that gifted kids can't talk about their experiences, but i am saying that i think some of you need to take a step back and look at your own internalized ableism and how it might be affecting others in the nuerodiverse community
