Hot take. Rapunzel should not have forgiven Cassandra or Varian for what they did to her. Cassandra only "went good" after Zhan Tiri took the stone and she lost everything. Varian only "went good" after he got thrown in the dungeon cell with Rapunzel. None of them sorted themselves out until AFTER they lost. And then Rapunzel comforts THEM? UGH!!!
You seem to be misremembering what happened with Varian. We, the audience, see him having second thoughts after the initial fight with Rapunzel and co in the throne room. And then, he only got thrown in jail because he turned on Andrew and attacked him.
Then, he and Rapunzel had a genuine heart-to-heart, during which Rapunzel explained her side, that she had more things on her plate than just what Varian wanted her to do. He accepted this and apologized and then she forgave him.
Rapunzel has always been a person of chances. She gave Eugene a chance to help her, and during the course of their time together, got to know him as a person. She gave the pub thugs a chance by asking about their dreams, and they turned out to be thuggish men with largely artistic dreams, not to mention fiercely protective of her. She gave Max a chance to get to know Eugene the way she did by asking him to put aside his duty for one day, after which Max came to understand the kind of person Eugene really was an came to his rescue.
While I have never been on board with her forgiving Cassandra, I do acknowledge that it's 100% in character for her to have done so.

Part 206 of my bakery “enemies” au!
THE END!! I can't believe I finally completed this. When I first started this comic, I had no idea that it would end up being this long. A little over 3 years and over 200 parts, so around 2000 panels. (My folder that holds all my files relating to this comic is 3 GB with 2,017 items....). I honestly can't believe that I managed to stick around to the end of this. Thank you all so much for the support, I never imagined that so many people would care about this comic when I started it!
Of course, there are still some loose threads. The kwamis and Nathalie for example, but the core of this series has always been about the emotional conflict between Marinette and Adrien, and that has been resolved. I have some epilogue ideas to cover those loose ends, but this comic has already taken so much of my time and I'm not sure I want to promise that I'll get around to it. ... But who knows. Maybe!
For now, Adrien and Marinette will get some long-deserved rest.

Not but I don’t think I’ll ever be over the way they wrote Mother Gothel’s manipulation . The way it’s woven into everything she does. The way you can tell by watching her with Repunzel that this is years and years and layers and layers of manipulation. This is a whole little world Gothel had built around her and Repunzel with nobody to stop her. The way it’s apparent from the first scene. The way she insults repunzel and puts her down and tries to work on her self esteem but hides its behind “oh I’m just teasing. Don’t be so sensitive.” The way Mother Knows Best is a masterclass in narcissistic manipulation. The way she gaslights Repunzel by calling the floating lights “stars” even though Repunzel is smart enough to figure out that’s not what they are. The way Gothel has to have all the power, even in small ways like her having a door and Repunzel having a curtain. The way even their little game of “I love you” is a narcissistic play for power because Gothel’s line is always “I love you most” because she’s SUCH a good mother, you see. She’s sacrificed SO MUCH. She’s basically a martyr. She takes SUCH good care of Repunzel. Nobody could EVER love as much as her.
The way Gothel and Repunzel have an ‘argument’ which is actually just Repunzel having a reasonable request and Gothel giving a whole big manipulative spiel followed by a harsh rebuff. Then she immediately leaves, which is also another play for power. She controls when she and Repunzel can have a conversation and they’re not having it right now. She comes back a tries to pretend it never happened, except it did and they both know it, so Gothel is like “oh I’m making your favorite soup! Isn’t it wonderful? Doesn’t it make up for the fact I’ve ruined your whole life and I told you you can NEVER EVER have a life outside the toxic bubble I’ve created for us? Why would you ever want to leave??” Which is exactly how abusive relationships work, the way they offer the bare minimum and act like its might as well be a gift from God. And the worst part is, many people who are abused take it and DO feel like it really is a special thing because they’re not used to getting even the bare minimum. Another really good detail too is the after Gothel’s blow up (“now I’M the bad guy. Oh poor me”) Repunzel DOES want to drop the subject so she tells Gothel she just wants paint instead and calls the floating lights “stars,” thus making a subtle concession and making Gothel feel like she’s won, which I’m sure exactly how all their ‘aruguments’ in the past have ended: with Repunzel having yield and Gothel making sure she’s knows she’s the one in control. Overall it’s just so well written and one of the best representations of real manipulations that I’ve seen

I'm really curious because I'm rewatching ouat and don't remember Regina mind wiping her abuse from Henry.
Did she do it when she wiped his memory of telling him her plan in... Season 2, I think is when she planned to escape with Henry. Or did it happen later on?
(Asking because retconning the many mistakes this show made is sooooo hard when I can't keep track of everything she or gold/others have done.
Also yeah poor Henry was definitely abused.
Like wtf was Regina's plan with him and with Owen.
Owen knew she wasn't his mom. Knew his dad wasn't gonna leave. If she kept him, he would have been even more screwed up than he was before.
Henry was gonna grow up too and she knew that.
She knew that the curse was gonna last for at least 28 years.
What happens when Henry is an adult? Or a teen?
Poor kid already gave up on making friends because they DON'T age with him before he even got the book.
I read a fic once about 'what if emma left the night she came' and dear god, it was a one shot and depressing. Because Henry ended his life as a teenager.
Which is realistic.
A person ending their life or running away or actually going crazy in those circumstances was guaranteed no matter the kid she adopted. Even if she hadn't adopted the savior's kid.
Even if she adopted Emma herself or August or A KID FROM THE WORLD WITHOUT MAGIC.
What RA's don't acknowledge is that her adopting a kid with full knowledge that the curse was gonna last for at least 28 years, if not more, was pure abuse and likely to end badly even if the kid wasn't resourceful like Henry.
Because she was ensuring they'd basically have a short miserable life.
They can't keep friends. They can't date. They can't have kids if the curse isn't broken.
Jefferson as a grown man went nuts because of it (though to be fair, he already had trauma of his own). Imagine being a kid who doesn't know different but KNOWS it's supposed to be different because of what everyone else thinks their lives are like/vis tv.
Like. REALLY. What was Regina's plan?
But yeah. Mind wipe. Sorry about the tangent.
Oh this is a good ask about a popular fandom saying that probably needs clarification!
Regina “mind wiped the abuse from Henry” is… in a way… MAYBE more of a head-canon than canon because canonically speaking we only know for a fact that Regina erased her plan to kidnap Henry and murder his loved ones. That is the only thing made explicitly clear since the scene is about that plot and Henry’s line after is to show that he doesn’t know anything about her plot anymore. Which when we say that we’re talking about this scene from late s2:
Tumblr media
HOWEVER. It just makes logical sense that Regina mind-wiped ALL of the abuse since Henry goes on to act like she never emotionally damaged him which is a complete 360 to what the show portrayed and what he said prior to the “mind wipe” incident. So if this is a head canon it’s a damn good one that is heavily supported by the show’s canon and evidence of retconning.
Regina didn’t have a plan for Henry or for Owen past needing them to love her. She needed them to fill the evil hole in her heart. And like a true narcissist, she figured they should be grateful to her for the life she would give them. She never thought about anything else but herself. The show never really told us much more.
But your tangent is 100% spot on. Agreed. And yes, that fanfic sounds depressing! But true.

If Kenji is in the new show, I really hope they delve into the current relationship with his dad.
Like what if Kenji regularly visits his dad in prison. There could be a lot of emotion there and would be really interesting to see. I don't believe Kenji would just suddenly be chill about his once favourite person being in prison. The guilt!!
I really hope they delve into Kenji's emotions of being adopted as well, and how well he has adjusted to the change. That could be so interesting.
Like just imagine having to realise your dad is evil, constructing a plan to make him leave, realise he does leave and never gave a shit about you, find out he got arrested, realising you have no family, then your best friend becomes your brother, all in the span of like two days.

wake up sheeple !! the notion that katara is the overbearing, responsible member of the group was a lie peddled by Big Toph to distract from the fact that the actual overbearing, responsible member of the group (sokka) also happens to be her favorite.

i have SO many thoughts and questions about spike so i’m going to dump them here:
so we all know how chase doesn’t remember anything that happens while spike is in control, right? well do y’all ever think about how spike remembers what happens when chase is in control? he seems to be completely aware of where he is or what is currently happening whenever he activates, like at the talent show in spike’s got talent. when spike activated after chase got embarrassed, spike knew what chase’s original magic act was (moving a chair with his molecular kinesis) and continued the act by “moving” (breaking) the chair with his head instead.
another example: in the commando app episode, when perry is reprimanding chase, she tells him a story about when she wiped out during a roller derby game and was forced to quit the team. later, when spike activates, spike insults her by saying she probably just quit out of shame (or something like that lol), which means he remembered earlier parts of their conversation (that he wasn’t active for).
this is so interesting to me because it makes me wonder if spike is still conscious while he’s not active (unlike chase). like is he always watching and listening while chase goes about his day-to-day? is he just laying low somewhere in chase’s mind, waiting for the chance to activate? or does he come out unwillingly from the intensity of whatever emotion chase is feeling? (more under the cut)
he’s clearly shown to be his own person with his own thoughts, beliefs, and abilities separate from chase, so does he just…decide to activate when chase is upset? is spike just trying to help or even protect chase (in his own violent way) whenever he activates? or does he activate because he feels personally threatened when people harass or make fun of chase?
conversely, what exactly causes spike to deactivate? i know he deactivates when chase’s “aggression level” is lowered, but what causes the aggression level to go down in the first place? does it gradually decrease over time? or can certain things calm him down? (like when leo gave him some tea in spike’s got talent)? but it seems like even douglas doesn’t even know how to get spike to deactivate so??? is there just no rhyme or reason to how spike activates or deactivates?
i am definitely overthinking it but this has haunted me since i first watched the show as a kid 😭

Felix being Adrien’s flawed copy is good and smart and beautiful and a fandom favourite but honestly. Honestly. We’re not making good enough use of the information canon gave us. Namely that:
Felix is the Graham de Vanily heir, while Adrien is the son of a nouveau riche (ergo a commoner) and a prodigal child: the ultimate sign of his family’s decadence is that he has to work (ew).
Felix was born out of jealousy towards his cousin: Colt would have designed (or at least, meant to design) his child to be superior in all aspects.
Felix wasn’t always this serious, ring-stealing, people-snapping antagonist we have grown to love and cherish: at heart, he’s a theatre kid and a magician. He’s associated with the sun and the colour white and golden tones, while Adrien is linked to the moon and black and silver accents.
For all his identity stealing shenanigans, Felix has a strong sense of self (see: Representation) while Adrien has no clue who he actually is and/or wants to be when he grows up (see: the entire series).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I’m saying is: Adrien as Felix’s first draft. Adrien who grew up in the spotlight, but never shone as bright as his noble, curious, quick-witted cousin; Adrien who loved Felix’s stories and plays and magic tricks, and does not understand why his cousin grew quieter as the years went by; Adrien desperately trying to fill in the blanks with jokes and puns, only for them to fall flat, because he simply isn’t Felix.
Adrien as Felix’s first draft.
