Episode 536, ‘Rollpanna and Yakisobapanman’. Yakisobapanman and his sister Yakisobakasu are attacked by Baikinman with huge rocks while traveling to visit the bakery, and Yakisobakasu gets knocked off a cliff edge. She calls out to her brother as she falls, and when a distant Rollpanna hears her and is reminded of the many times her sister has called to her for help, she rushes over and saves Yakisobakasu from falling. They they thank her and invite her to come with them to the bakery, but she refuses and leaves.
When they finally get to the bakery, they join everyone there in a game of jumprope. Yakisobapanman is terrible at it. Seeing the yakisoba siblings enjoying spending time together reminds Melonpanna of how much she misses her sister Rollpanna, and she becomes very sad. After hearing about Rollpanna from the others at the bakery, Yakisobapanman and Yakisobakasu talk to Melonpanna and manage to cheer her up.
But, shortly after that, Baikinman shows up and snatches Yakisobakasu, carrying her away to force her to make delicious noodles for him and Dokinchan (though Dokinchan ends up being only one to get to eat any). Yakisobapanman chases after them while Melonpanna goes to get help. Baikinman convinces Rollpanna to attack Yakisobapanman (and activates her bad heart) by telling her he’s an ally of Anpanman, who she’s been conditioned to hate. Yakisobapanman and Rollpanna end up fighting, and even when Anpanman and Shokupanman show up to help him Rollpanna is easily stronger.
Melonpanna finally arrives after having freed Yakisobakasu (followed the bakers and Cheese), and with her melon juice power she brings Rollpanna back to her normal self. Together they all fight and defeat Baikinman. Even though Melonpanna wants her sister to stay, Rollpanna leaves once again. Later when everyone else has gone back to the bakery, Rollpanna can be seen in the sky watching them.

Anpanman: Roll and Laura - Secret of the Cloud-sailing Castle
Torrent - Dailymotion
Presenting for the first time for English-speaking audiences: Roll and Laura - Secret of the Cloud-sailing Castle (Roll to Laura - Ukigumojou no Himitsu), a 2002 one-off movie from the Anpanman franchise.
In an unusual case for the franchise, the movie focuses less on Anpanman and Baikinman, and more on relationship between the two girls: Rollpanna and Laura. When it’s discussed by Japanese fans it tends to be referred as a love story and it’s famous for being a huge tearjerker.
It’s a really special movie, developing in a short time in a very tender way the relationship between the two girls. I recommend it to both Anpanman fans and people who have never watched Anpanman before. It is very accessible, though reading a little on Rollpanna’s character first will make it easier to follow her motivations.

Durian Oujo is a princess based on the king of fruits! Not only is she physically very strong, she has powerful personality. She’s very excitable, and frequently becomes fascinated by people she meets. Her fixation on those who catch her interest leads her to be overbearing- She may follow them, demand they act as a servant to her, imitate or impersonate them, make them dress up in fancy outfits, steal things from them, hug them without permission, or bring them with her by force. This makes many characters uncomfortable, but the fact that she likes them so much and that she hasn’t really harmed anyone makes them not have the heart to act against her.Â
The person she’s the biggest fan of is Anpanman himself, and has given him gifts (including fruit baskets he’s unable to eat), blown kisses at him, attempted to follow him for an entire day, and has put herself in danger just to get his attention. Her companion Avocado Jiiya is a very agreeable and obedient attendant who tries to accommodate her demands and fan obsessions, but even he sometimes gets stressed out by her.

Onion Oni is a kid who is, as many onis are, aggressive and usually reacts to his frequent anger with violence. He can be a bully to other children and searches out conflict. True to his nature as an onion, he actually cries very easily when things go wrong, and feels lonely because his bad temper and behavior makes it very hard for him to make any friends.
Also, as someone who enjoys and eventually distributes onions, he is baffled as to why anyone would NOT want to bite into a delicious raw onion like an apple

Related to the previous post- When Majo abducted Baikinman, he was in the middle of harassing an entire town in the middle of the night with this noisy, obnoxious, beautiful monstrosity of a UFO

Yakanman is an old metal kettle that can heat up water, without any need of a fire. In his first episode he had left his original home because a shiny new kettle guy, the sort that makes a loud whistling sound when the water has boiled, had arrived and immediately became much more popular. Thinking he was unwanted and unneeded, Yakanman sadly left.
Fortunately he starts to feel much better after he makes new friends who care for him and proves to himself that he’s still useful. He now works at the local school handling various odd jobs, including helping with some lessons and acting as a humidifier.

Would you ever consider doing a fandub project?
I would truly love nothing more than to work on one! Unfortunately though, even though I’m able to understand the show, I’m still not quite advanced enough in Japanese language skills to be confident that I’d be able to translate it accurately enough. I also have a minor hearing issue that makes it difficult to distinguish certain consonants (like a t sounding like it could be a d, k or ch) in words that I’m not super familiar with. But if anyone who is better at hearing and translating is ever interested in working on such a thing, I’d be extremely happy to provide recordings and help in any way I possibly can!

What is your favourite princess in the show?
I’m very sorry I took a while to answer! It was actually very difficult to decide, and even then I couldn’t narrow it down to only one. My favorite movie princesses are Laura and Banna (technically Banna is a queen) and my favorite show princesses are Yuzu Hime and Durian Oujo! I also like Nanda Hime, Salad Hime, Flower Hime and Maron Hime a lot too!

Pierrotman is, of course, a clown.
......FALSE. While the title of the episode, Horrorman and Pierrotman, may lead you to expecting our skeleton pal to befriend a clown, they are in fact the very same person. One day Horrorman is particularly impressed and inspired by how well loved Anpanman is. He wants to become popular as well, the star of everyone’s attention and admiration- unaware that he’s already beloved by millions. He decides that to reach this goal, he needs a new cool look.
And what better way to look cool than paint all over your skull face? Unfortunately the efforts of Baikinman and Dokinchan aren’t quite the look he had in mind. So, Baikinman goes to look for someone who can help.
He finds the robot painter, Nankahenda, and forces him to paint Horrorman’s face under threat of being destroyed with a giant drill. Which was probably not really necessary.
Nankahenda was not made aware what Horrorman actually wanted, so it ended up looking like this- wearing an outfit provided by Baikinman. With encouragement, he proudly goes to show off his new look to people but causes them to flee in terror as he runs after them. The truth comes out and Baikinman and Dokinchan admit that they intentionally caused him to look scary for their amusement, which makes Horrorman very sad indeed.
Later on everyone assures Horrorman that they already like him very much the way he is, and Nankahenda paints up Horrormans face more like the way he wanted. Nankahenda’s idea of what a popular and cool guy looks like is questionable but at least Horrorman is happy with it. Donning a clown costume and balancing atop a giant ball, Horrorman embraces his clownish side and has fun with everyone.
