I think that while my biases from watching animated shows as a kid definitely shine through when I'm watching shows from the same franchises now, I don't think that blinds me from thinking today's shows are good.
I desperately want today's shows and adaptations to be good. I want to go back to my childhood with a show or movie that's similar but not quite like the show that brought me so much joy as a kid. I go into any new show with as few biases as I can, and a positive attitude and do my best to enjoy it but the crappiness of the writing, or acting, or animation creeps up on me and I just can't ignore how shitty it is.
And I'm fully capable of not liking movies and shows as much as an adult. I love Sleeping Beauty but Phillip is so useless, the animation they do for his "sword fighting" is so bad it's funny. I love Batman Beyond but some of the episodes were stupid (looking at you "Egg Baby") and of course there are lots of new shows that I find myself really enjoying, like Owl House, Hazbin Hotel, and Blue Eye Samurai. I'm also a big fan of the newest Batman movie.
My childhood biases don't make my opinions on today's shows and less valid. Duh.

Live Action ATLA.... was not a show
I didn't get past the first episode, I stopped watching after Zuko somehow knew to go to the Water Tribe to get the Avatar. How would he magically know that if he was following the ice ball light and they cut the scene where Aang and Katara go to the battleship and accidently set off the flare? Like sure, maybe he just wants to fuck with the Water Tribe, but then he would've come from the ice ball, probably on land right? If he was following the ice ball light, and had no indicator that he should change course and go straight to the Water Tribe then why does he just show up, no change in angle of approach or anything, almost like the writer's didn't think it was an important scene to include because they assumed the audience had already watched the show and knew that the battleship shenanigans were supposed to happen.
Seems like that happened a lot. The dynamic between Aang and Gyatso was so bland, almost like they didn't think they had to show them being close friends as much because the audience already knew about the character chemistry because they had watched the original show.
Kids can't act, we as a people know this. This extends to teenagers (that's why adults play teens in teen movies), so I shouldn't be surprised that the teen acting in the show was trash, but it was so held back, it was insulting. If I hadn't watched the original show I honestly don't think I would've known Sokka and Katara were siblings. I'd have assumed they were at most acquaintances. Maybe awkward friends?
Having older kids in Sokka's soldier unit in the Water Tribe kinda defeats the point of him? He has a lot of pride as the sole protector of the Tribe, and in the original show this is highlighted by him literally being the only one old enough to protect because the others are *tiny* children. In the live action there's like, another 14-yr-old who's taking orders, but they don't seem to be friends despite being close in age and with the same responsibilities. If they wanted to have some older kids they should've given more time to engrave Katara and Sokka more into their community. They did not do this. Gran Gran gives some horrible exposition (aka says the opening theme (which by the way sounds awful in the context she's saying it in (I know it's supposed to sound more like a legend but it's too casual to be a legend, or even paraphrasing a legend, she's literally just doing exposition))) and there were no hugs, or sly words between a grandmother and her grandchildren. IN THE ORIGINAL SHOW THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN YES but that's because we're actively focusing on Aang and Zuko, and are, for the most part out of the village doing penguin sledding and stuff.
Quick PSA to greedy corporate bastards. If your CGI tech can't do the penguin sledding, rethink making a 1:1 adaptation to ATLA. Appa looks scary, not cute. Momo is never not a blur (to mask how bad his CGI looks), and the kids don't know how to act with CGI. Tell me, how many times does Appa lick someone in the live action? Y'know, the thing he does to show affection? I count zero times so far. If your lazy tech can't cut it, don't just change a beloved character, either make it work or don't make the show.
Don't call it a 1:1 adaptation if you're going to change all the characters and their motivations? Why ever would you even want to do that? To make up for the crappy CGI that warrants darker scenes to cover up the mistakes so now the whole tone of the show has to be changed? That's a common thing nowadays. Do kids not deserve colour?
People keep comparing it to the movie, as if that's supposed to make it good. Now, I haven't seen the movie, but I don't have to to know that it's bad. That doesn't make the live action show good though. Comparing an adaptation to another adaptation is bullshit? Compare it to the source material cowards, and see how crud it actually is. Rewatch the show, use both of your eyes this time, and purposefully be as critical as possible. Honestly. "Why are they giving us the Air Nomad Fire Nation fight? It's a "noodle incident" there's no need" "why isn't Gyatso any fun in this version? He's supposed to be a goof" "why do Aang and Gyatso have such a stale dynamic?" "Why is Gyatso serious when shit goes down? Wouldn't it be truer to his character if he was trying to lighten the mood so the kids don't get scared?" "Wouldn't it have been more impactful if he was goofy then turned serious instead of being serious the whole time?" "Why does he call Aang's name so loudly when it's obvious he's trying to be stealthy and quiet to get the kids to safety?" "Why did they change the opening monologue?", etc. etc.
Watching this show was not fun, it made me appreciate the original show yes but less as a nice memory to occasionally reference, and more as a safe haven to go back to and cleanse myself.
1/10 it reminded me once again that Netflix is a blackhole of greed and terrible actors LEAVE THE CHILDHOOD SHOWS ALONE IF YOU TRULY WANT TO REVAMP THEM OR REINTRODUCE THEM TO KIDS DO A SIMPLE RERUN OF THE SHOW ON WHATEVER CHANNEL OR APP YOU USE, OR A CUTE ANIMATION THAT INTICES KIDS TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL SHOW but that was never the goal, you wanted the adults to cream their pants because their "childhood is back". Honestly, Disney could teach a class on soulless live action adaptations of beloved classics (except Cinderella 2015 that movie is a gem).

Arcane Was Missing Some Love
SOME MASSIVE SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ON, PROCEED WITH CAUTION
Okay. I just finished Arcane. I know, late to the party but I have a habit of not watching popular shows when they're popular. I usually wait for them to fizzle out, or rather, to see how it takes for that to happen. I have issues with the show, and I have things I liked. More cons than pros but I've never played the game so maybe I missed out on things? Don't murder me. I loved the art style, that goes without saying but I really did like it. It had gorgeous character design, setting design, and The lighting in scenes made them shine beautifully. This is why everyone watched the show and the big thing that people like about it, so I'm done talking about it since it's old news. My issues stem from the characters themselves. I know there were only 9 episodes, but I feel like more could've been done with the dynamics between characters; more scenes and dialogue that show how much they care for one another, or their malice, or frustration amide love. This is particularly with the scenes between Jinx and Silco. We're meant to believe that they cultivated a close father daughter bond in however many years it was between the timeskips. But as much as I could get the base idea of what the writers were trying to get across I think this relationship, The relationship between Viktor and Singed, between Mel and her mother, between Vander and all the kids, could've been cultivated more with a few well placed lines of dialogue. or small scenes. What Silco wants to get across is that he see himself in Powder/Jinx, and she finds sanctuary in him. In all their interaction the fatherly love is missing, and his favouritism of her is also missing. She's a valued employee, one who he trusts and who trusts him, but while he does stick his neck out for her, that relationship in close proximity is not there. Nowhere in his dialogue, except for when he's dying, does he really praise her or speak about her fondly, which I really would've liked. I know we're not supposed to like him, but I did. He wanted to give Jinx all the power that he could, and that's what a father wants to give his children, simple as that. That much is clear, but I just feel like a few more lines of "you're perfect" "I believe in you" "I want to give you everything" "You are the greatest accomplishment of my life" etc. etc. would've been great. I know those lines are cheesy but in moments like Silco's death, they make the whole scene so much more impactful. He sees her as his daughter, she sees him as her father, but, and stick with me on this, in the scene where he dies she doesn't cling to him, we don't have a little skip where it's just her sobbing into his corpse, she doesn't call him dad, there's no desperate "daddy please don't leave me", which yeah is a bit cliche but I wouldn't have minded. Jinx is struggling in her own mind to pick a side, there should have been more of an indicator that she had chosen Silco, and that his death hurt her so much that they would've do what she did. I mean maybe I read into that wrong, I'm just a huge fan of father daughter relationships in media, because there's nothing more heartbreaking than a father who wants to give his daughter the world, and then fails to do so.
I started talking like I was goin to speak about all my girvancees, and I still might, but really I just wanted to say that first and foremost because I really wanted more of that. Her hanging off him, them eating together, maybe something where she gets hurt and he wraps up her wounds and calling her an idiot but he was worried, maybe a scene where in his office one of his righthand men opposes him and she points a gun at them, and when you'd expect Silco to side with his advisors, he instead takes Jinx's side saying "I'm inclined to trust my daughter's opinion" or something, I dunno. Something where it's clear that he's replaced the father figure and protector in her life. He now exists where Vander and Vi were and isn't only someone who gave her freedom, but is someone who truly cared for her and believed himself to be her father.
They wanted to make the show lighthearted at times, but never gave chance to any truly ridiculous scenes. How nice would it have been if for whatever reason, Vi had to dress up to meet the counselours so she and Cait do a makeover and there more of a romantic relationship could've been cultivated for them. I know I know, only 9 episodes, but I can wish.
If we saw baby Viktor go to Singed's house a few more times to play with Rio, and cultivated that relationship so that seeing her in pain would've hurt us more as an audience. Yea she's cute, but if she and baby Viktor played together, or cuddled with one another, if she, in her animal ways comforted him about his illness/disability, it would've hurt so much more in both the scene where he initially sees her hurting, and when he comes back to Singed.
More time was needed in the soundtrack, it wasn't good. Sorry Imagine Dragon's fans. It didn't give what the show needed in order to have the impact they wanted it all to have. Some of the best scenes (ex, Jayce in the theatre with the violin guy, and Vi fighting at the bar with western music) were because there wasn't a voice to take us out of it. I think the scene where there is a physical band playing the track was interesting, but the sound design didn't account for the location. Grungy drums and beat up guitars and basses don't sound so clean. Atmospheric music with more lyrics would've lent better for the tone and mood that certain scenes were trying to convey.
I feel like this was a skeleton of a show that could've been groundbreaking and like, perfect, if it just gave itself more time. If it was able to savour the relationships it introduced, written exclusive music for the show, and threw in a few happy scenes to make the harsher ones have a miraculous impact on us.
Overall I liked the show, solid 7/10. I watched this instead of the ATLA live action because I watched maybe 2 episodes and wanted to cry because it was so horrid.

I don't know what this is but it was fun
A compiled list of what Bart Simpson's life could be like: - Marge pulls him out of school and begins to homeschool him, because he actually improved a lot with one-on-one teaching (S4 Ep. 20) - Bart genuinely enjoys ballet and is good at it, he only quits because he's bullied. He gets back into it around high school because he hasn't been subjected to the bullying thanks to homeschool (S6 Ep. 17) - Bart is really good at skateboarding, this is common knowledge - What's not so common knowledge is that he's also good at his graffiti art (S23 Ep. 15) - Bart is also great at playing drums, but gives it up for the sake of Lisa Despite being a little shit, he can genuinely be a good brother, and a good person. I think that ultimately if Marge homeschooled him he would turn out better, no longer influenced by Nelson and his gang, or have any pressure to be funny/bad to be liked at school. Milhouse wouldn't care that he's homeschooled. This is all just based off memory of course but it's solidified a better headcanon than his canon future self: I like to think that instead of continuing with graffiti he leaned more into tattooing, because that'd be dope and I think Bart would be interested in the needlework and blood involved, etc. He's in a casual jazz band, and instead of drinking himself into a beer bod like Homer he stays somewhat in shape by skateboarding and doing ballet. I never liked that he has so much potential as shown in episodes like these but in the end he becomes nothing. As a person who also has ADHD and has been watching Simpsons from a young age it's disheartening to see a character I relate to so much become a loser. I also like to believe that instead of marrying Jenda, he dates Martin (who becomes Marcia Princess) in high school. You can't tell me Bart wouldn't be a trans ally. You just can't, and I'm a sucker for the nerd and bad boy ship. I feel like Martin (Marcia) would help Bart calm down a bit, rethink passions he once had that he gave up like ballet and drums, and Bart might help them loosen up a bit, have fun and not focus so much on academics. Get the boy on proper ADHD meds.

FarmWorld!Finn + His Kids
So it's been well established that his five kids are Jay, Bonnie, a kid he has with Huntress Wizard, Neptr, and Stormo; though to be fair I thought Stormo was Lemongrab for a while because that would also make sense.
Instead of him just getting with HW and happening to have the same kids he had with Roselinen in Puhoy, I think that Finn met Roselinen (probably not her name in FarmWorld) in like, late teens early twenties and they had Jay and Bonnie, then either she died or they separated and he got the kids. Boomjams we got Single Dad Finn 1.0
Then he met HW, they had a kid, probably named Hunter or Arrow, and adopted/found Neptr.
These are all pretty straightforward as far as how these kids come into existence or become part of the family; all except Stormo. He and Finn have shared DNA unlike Neptr so it wouldn't make sense for Stormo to be adopted and the world they live in is too underdeveloped medically to have surrogacy yet. My take is that Stormo is Finn's little sibling that we see in the episode from the original show, but because of the ice fiasco Stormo was preserved in ice and never aged past a baby. Years later after Finn is cured of his ice madness he finds his little brother, frees him and raises him as a son (and hush about the fact that it would be very unlikely that a baby would survive being frozen for like 10 years).
So, to recap:
Finn goes nuts with the ice stuff and freezes his parents, baby brother, and Barnaby. Later when he's freed from the curse he finds Jake, and meets and has two children with Roselinen; Jay and Bonnie. They seperate/she dies, Finn takes the kids, then finds his long lost family frozen in ice. His parents don't make it, but his baby brother aka Stormo and Barnaby do, so they become part of the family. He then meets Huntress Wizard. They have Hunter, and save Neptr (thereby saving his life, kinda similar to giving him life). Then HW dies and Finn becomes Single Dad 2.0
Finn DOES NOT die during his face off with Destiny Gang and Scarab, he gets a concussion and his children are able to nurse him back to health because he is NOT leaving those kids all alone. Then he parts ways with his eldest son Jay and the rest of the family eats Huntress Wizard Stew forevermore. At least until Bonnie goes off to be gay and Stormo gets locked in an eternal battle with some psycho kid from Destiny Gang named Goliad. Hunter follows in the footsteps of his mom and Neptr.... I dunno, carries on the family business of lumberjacking? Yes.

I watched My Adventures with Superman. Pt. 2
Things have been brought to my attention (because whenever anyone brings up that show I see red). People have argued that the story actually follows the romance between Clark and Lois and isn't meant be primarily seen as a Superman story. Sorry I just, completely disagree with that. As much as I'd like the show to be able to be primarily about Lois and Clark, it's a Superman show; it's called My Adventures with Superman; not The Romantic Adventures of Lois and Clark. Couldn't even say Lois is the main character and that the title is from her perspective because it's very clear that this is still Superman/Clark Kent's story. So me going into the show with no expectations but wanting a superhero story, and getting a romance with some superhero sprinkled in was immensely disappointing. That said, from what I could tell the only thing that was motivating Clark to discover his powers (which I don't think he's ever had to do past the age of 15 in any other iteration of Superman) is his love for Lois, which is now explained.
I was also told that Jimmy's character is well done because it loses the gap between Clark and his human friends and coworkers, but Jimmy and Lois aren't meant to be a little less powerful, they're meant to have way more of a gap between them and Clark because Clark has to go be Superman, and having them so tightly knit takes away from his Supermanness. A character that only reacts to situations isn't adding to the story or improving those around him, as a main character should do.
Tumblr media
Clark being an uwu kitten himbo takes so much from his character as a sweet but noble person.
The plot is not well formulated, and it's definitely not a slow burn. From what I watched, the "slow burn" of Kryptonian lore stems from the fact that Clark literally can't understand what Jor-el is saying and not much else. That's not a slow burn, that's just creating a barrier between the character and his own story. Maybe it's later developed, but they don't show Clark as much more than a lovesick himbo puppy; personally I think he's more than that, even at the beginning of his Superman story.
It's clearly not an episodic series, or if it is then they're doing a horrible job. Each episode leads into the next, and the storyline continues. Just because Superman fights a new villain doesn't mean it's episodic. I'd be happy if the new takes made sense, but making all the villains just preteens with tech is so boring. Silver Banshee's backstory: she was born into a Gaelic clan who's firstborn undergo a ritual to prove themselves a worthy clan leader. While on a world journey of some kind, her father dies and her uncle deems her unworthy of being clan leader as a girl, so she does the ritual by herself, but is interrupted by said uncle, and sent to the underworld by the demons who were helping her with the ritual. She is granted passage back to Earth to find an old occult book. She then runs into Superman whilst on a killing spree and fails to get the book, but remains a Superman villain. Her powers include supernatural strength and endurance, as well as her famous "death scream", which effectively kills whoever hears it if she knows their name. Now, isn't that way more interesting than what this show put out for her; a trouble making preteen who's constantly fighting with her dumb brother and his friends whilst trying to get Intergang off the ground with her tech helmet that gives her essentially the same powers as Shriek from 'Batman Beyond'.
Stemming from this, why does the superpowered hero not have any superpowered villains? A non-superpowered hero with superpowered villains makes sense because the dynamic makes the hero (the one the audience is rooting for) the underdog. To make non-superpowered villains against a superpowered hero make sense the hero has to be considerably weaker, which just ruins the point of Superman.

I watched My Adventures with Superman
The title sounds like a porno.
Oh… It's so bad… It's so unbelievably terrible. I really wanted to have faith that it would at least be decent. Even if it was a copy paste of the 1979 animated series that would've been fine with me but this is actually trash. HIS POWERS MANIFEST WHEN HE'S A TEEN, HE'S NOT SCARED TO MEET HIS HOLOGRAM ALIEN PARENTS, HIS PARENTS ARE SUPPORTIVE OF THE FACT THAT HE'S ADOPTED, LOIS IS COOL AND AN ACTUAL PART OF THE PLANET, JIMMY IS NOT SMOOTH. What are they doing to these characters I don't care that Lois is Korean, and that Jimmy is black, I honestly don't give a shit just make them good characters SHOWING DIVERSITY IN SHITTY SHOWS DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE SHOW GOOD IT JUST GIVES A BAD REP TO DIVERSIFYING CHARACTERS.
I am so sad they sped up his backstory, I'm so sad they're starting with all 3 of them as interns, I'm so sad that Clark's powers are manifesting so slowly, I'm so sad that he doesn't make his suit, why can't he control his strength that's the power he's had the longest, why are they completely ignoring his super hearing, why is Lois a tomboy, why is Jimmy so into aliens, who is the lady who stole the robots? Is she supposed to be Metallo? If not then where is Metallo? Why hasn't the superpowered character actually defeated any villains yet, why is Superman so weak?? Why does he get a black eye, why do his powers fully manifest when Lois is in danger, why so they speed up the chemistry of Lois and Clark it takes YEARS before they get close and start dating and get married. Why is Jimmy pushing Lois and Clark who hard, how old are they supposed to be exactly? Also why are they making all the superpowered villains kids with tech? That angle is so crappy and takes away so much of the awesomeness? Why is Silver Banshee a preteen with a magic helmet she's not Elmer Fudd why am I here.
Tumblr media
One thing that super pissed me off is Ivo. THIS SHOW IS TRYING TO TELL ME THAT 1. IVO IS A DOUCHEBAG 2. HE CREATED PARASITE 3. PARASITE ISN'T THE RESULT OF BIOCHEMICALS BUT IS ACTUALLY A TECHY ASS SUIT 4. THAT RUDY JONES ISN'T PARASITE 5. THAT PARASITE DOESN'T ABSORB POWERS BUT SIMPLY REFLECTS THEM BACK AT THE OPPONENT. Also the suit itself doesn't make any sense and is a total rip off of Green Beetle's design in Young Justice, just trust me, also why does it look like an insect? Parasite doesn't have ties with insects, like kinda in the way that he's resilient I guess, but that's about it yk. But wait something that's actually interesting happens: For some reason, completely unexplained (maybe the assistant/Lois and Jimmy messed with buttons), the suit turned on Ivo and when Superman ripped it there was a shriveled man underneath omgggg BUT we don't even get to savour that bit of somewhat interesting plot bc OH MY GOD LOIS FIGURES OUT SUPERMAN IS CLARK KENT ON EPISODE 4.
Side note: the animation and art style is so lazy, and the S that symbolizes peace or sumn I don't remember on his suit is barely legible?? Also where's the S shaped hair piece because that shit is iconic.
Tumblr media
Look at these two designs. Just look at it.
Here's why the title "My Adventures with Superman" is the worst possible title for this show: This isn't from the audience's perspective, it's from Superman's perspective, and he's not having adventures with himself, also Adventures implies an episodic series, and this is definitely trying to have a long running plot; key word "trying", also adventures with superman makes him sound like your friendly neighbourhood hero, man could crush a mountain easily he's no neighbourhood nothing and It also implies he's not even the main character; that a self insert audience character would be but like I said that's not the case. Superman: The Animated Series is straight forward, not fucking around we're doing a show about The Man, it's animated, there you go. This show however is so dumb it hurts my brain. They've done nothing right.
I enjoyed Steve. Steve is at least halfway accurate, I'll give them that.
I fucked up and deleted like half of my post and it won't come back, so even thought there's SO much more about how stupid Lois is, why Amanda Waller is keeping close personal tabs on Superman is she's the leader of Cadmus, why are there Teen Titans villains in this show (ie, Slade/Deathstroke and The Brain and M. Mallah), and why is Wheatley and therapist gorilla in this show, who are they? Are they meant to be my beloved assholes Brain and Mallah?
I had to stop watching after I saw the Brain and Monsieur Mallah, it hurt too much. They took away my machine gun beret monkey.

The Bad Guys Movie is Actually Super Cute
I liked it a lot, the characters were very bight, and had a lot of spunk, which is absolutely necessary for a movie about heists. They gotta have that rizz.
Although the dynamic of the characters is a little iffy. The other 4, Snake, Shark, Piranha, Tarantula, are all scary physically as well as yk, connotatively. Wolves aren't scary off the bat, only when they are intentionally being intimidating. They can be associated with dogs, and most of Wolf's "scariness" had to do with characters in books, Big Bad Wolf and such. Despite this Mr. Wolf is the leader, so there's a bit of an imbalance right from the start because he could technically blend in and be cute and cuddly, but the others need to cross the barrier of being scary in appearance. And in the movie they were trying to show that Wolf is as naturally scary as the rest of them but as yk as a viewer I know that's not true so it doesn't have the same impact. And of course since it's a movie about bad guys there was a lot of stereotypical dialogue, gestures, mannerisms. I'm sure you know them.
"Well doll, guess I'll be seeing you around" wink/tips hat/does the two-fingered salute
But I mean it's a kid's movie so that's okay, the only problem is that showing those mannerisms makes cringey theater kids who do the side smirk two fingered-salute combo that just makes me want to kill myself from second hand embarrassment. Creates kids who can't stand on two legs, always gotta look like their swinging around a corner, I can't describe it well but have seen it so many times it is engrained in my brain. Anyways the romance was good, but it should've turned into a romance. I really don't know why people are so against kid's movies having romance nowadays. In this movie they do a shit ton of pseudo flirting and yk, he changes for her, and learns she's a badass and such but then it doesn't go anywhere. Felt like censorship. Which should be illegal when the movie was produced in a country that definitely is cool with romance and even gay romance. It wasn't gay romance but yk, censorship. I also don't understand the world they live in. There's the gang: wolf, snake, tarantula (I don't think she's to scale but I could be wrong), and a piranha and shark that have legs. There's also a fox, and a guinea pig, but everyone else is human. Not only that but somehow simultaneously there are cats, pandas, and even other guinea pigs that are specifically just animals, drawn differently and everything. I didn't really get it like either throw in some more anthropomorphic animals, make everyone an anthropomorphic animal, or make everyone human. And fix the "real" animal issue because it was weird to see an anthropomorphic wolf save an animal kitten from a tree. Like you're both animals I don't understand.
ALSO the ending was a little eh...
I feel like it could've been better.
I get that they didn't want the bad guys to be pardoned for everything magically just because of one good deed. Like okay, send them to jail, fantastic. But Marmalade being mistaken for the Crimson Paw was dumb. And if that coincidence didn't happen he would've been off scott free because his image before then had not been tarnished. Fox lady, Diane, was cool up until then and then she does nothing to try to convict Marmalade in that moment like ma'am what happened to your girl power? There's tons of evidence against him, and even stuff the writers could've added in like idk maybe the mind control device only works with animals of the same species or something. Or maybe that mind control helmet could've survived. I dunno I feel something more could've been done because Marmalade is going to get a lot of street cred because it's established that the Crimson Paw is super cool.
All that said, I will watch it again because I love heist movies and the characters are very sweet.

I watched Swan Princess and Sleeping Beauty (SP for first time)
I just watched the Swan Princess and Derek didn't learn shit idk why they were tryna gaslight me into thinking he had some character development, he never saw Odette display courage or kindness, and he wasn't able to tell her from the old disguised hag. There should've been a few scenes where like, Odette's in his kingdom and helping peasants or servants or playing with animals or some crap, and he just thinks she's pretty, AND THEN WHEN THE HAG IS PRESENTED HE DOES MORE THAN SUSPECT THAT SHE'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT please Derek I want you to be cool, your archer abilities are awesome man the hag should've been a little more obviously not her, tripping, or being rude, or something and then Derek is at least hesitant but she's insistent and then he professes his undying love. Also I mean, I dunno how archers act but he had an arrow in his bow whilst running after Swandette and it just looked dumb. Seems like the arrow should be in the quiver and then he takes it out quick and shoots bc skill. That've been better dans mon opinion. Should've had more scenes when they're kids and teens too, to yk, show she's a great person but he only sees her for her beauty ALSO PUBERTY CAN'T HIT SO HARD IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND HE NEEDS A HAIRCUT and his friend was shown with qualities of an asshole but it never comes to roost that he's like, aligned with the villain or anything he's just an asshole. Also she had a strong girl power moment rejecting his proposal when he stupidly said he only loves her beauty BUT THEN FOR THE WHOLE REST OF THE MOVIE SHE'S A TEXTBOOK DAMSEL IN DISTRESS AND LIKE, FORGETS HE'S A JERK WHO ONLY WANTED TO MARRY HER FOR HER FACE??????. Grow a brain please Odette you don't have the same excuse as Aurora. It's widely accepted that Merryweather was supposed to give her intelligence. The necklace should've had more significance Derek as a toddler to Odette as a baby, and THEN SHE SHOULD TWIDDLE AND PLAY WITH IT and THEN when he goes to shoot her down gasp (that ish surprised me Derek you almost killed your wife like 5 times in 10mins) and sees her transform and they have their little pow wow THEN she gives the necklace back to him in hopes that he will like, give it to her later that night at the dang ball AND THEN WHEN THE HAG IS THERE HE JUST CAN'T GIVE IT TO HER something isn't right he just doesn't feel it belongs to "Odette" for reasons yk. I do think she should've been able to get into the castle as a swan though, it's a bit dumb that she just has to watch at the window. Overall enjoyed the movie, Philip keeps his place as best prince still but yk, Derek…. had no character development sorry bud.
"Now you shall deal with me, o prince, and all the powers of Hell!" is such a raw line dude, it makes turns Maleficent from bad bitch girlboss to mommy step on me. I'm also a huge slut for Tchaikovsky so yk, a movie that uses his orchestral work as a base is just gorgeous

Where’s Scooby Doo?
Hm... I was not a fan of that new show ‘Velma’. Not. A. Fan.
It is ass, I confirmed it. It's full of stupid lines like "Bet you thought I wouldn't say that did you" and yk, run on sentences "what do you think of the murder?" "well it definitely doesn't remind me of my own mom's murder that still remains unsolved 2 years later." I'm all for new character dynamics, I read fanfiction. But Daphne and Fred aren't assholes???? They just aren't, and Shaggy hates his actual name, that's why he goes by Shaggy, and Scooby isn't even there???? They also put in a lesbian couple that's like, stereotypical lesbian, I think solely for the queers, like it's queer baiting without the baiting but it still feels like queer baiting. ALSO DAPHNE IS JUST SUPPOSED TO BE A NICE PERSON AND FREDDY IS A NICE PERSON WHY ARE THEY DICKS IN THIS SHOW?????? WHY IS VELMA SO CREEPY???????????? IF DAPHNE AND VELMA USED TO BE BEST FRIENDS WHY WOULD DAPHNE'S ADOPTED LESBIAN MOMS WHO ARE ALSO DETECTIVES FORGET ABOUT THE DEATH OF VELMA'S MOM????????????? WHY IS SHAGGY SO CLINGY???????????????????? WHERE IS SCOOBY DOO???? It's like someone watched one episode and for some reason thought that Velma is underappreciated. She does most of the brain work, that's her character, but Fred helps, Daphne helps, Shag and Scoob are usually just bait but they all help it's not just Velma; she can just do stuff like identify specific chemicals etc. There are lots of shows that paint her as depressed and underappreciated, even the movies do that, and while I don't agree that that's the case, I like that dynamic if done correctly. This show doesn't do it correctly. "But Fred usually pairs himself up with Daphne, and makes Velma go alone" yes, yes he does, because first off, he likes Daphne. Duh. Second, Velma usually does some super specific shit, never gets kidnapped, unlike Daphne, and enjoys being on her own. It's an odd number of people, they're all friends. That's the goddamn point. I am so pissed off that they forced these characters that have evolved so much back in the stereotypes they're based off of. Daphne is nice, Fred is smart, Velma is sociable, Shaggy is insightful. In this show it's the opposite also they tried to make it out like Velma ALSO likes Fred? But then make the two characters completely incompatible. Why would girlboss feminist Velma like selfish, egotistical Fred? It makes no sense. Scooby not being there takes so much away from Shaggy. Who's Shaggy without Scooby Doo? A fucking hippie. Or pardon, in this show he's called by his real name, Norville.
1/10 because I do like the art style so I can’t give it nothing, but if Fred is supposed to be popular and hot, at least make him hot. Daphne is okay, she’s cute. Make Shaggy shaggy, give him the hair. Velma is chunky, much appreciated. The fact that Scooby isn’t there knocks it from a 2.5 to a 1.

Wednesday Rant (sorry, I didn’t like it)
Disclaimer: These are just my opinions, and where I reach most of my initial impressions of what the characters should be like from the 1964 tv series, and the 1991 movies so if I’m missing facts then that’s why. I may say these opinions as fact but that’s just how I talk remember it’s just opinions.
Ok good, now that that’s out of the way, the casting is pretty crap, Morticia is boobilicious but not tasteful, which is very important for her character. Gomez and Pugsley look right but even tho Gomez is supposed to be kinda ugly there was already a precedent of 1991 Gomez that set the bar high so it was a little disappointing. He is the best cast. Wednesday smiles too much, and talks to much, and Thing isn't supposed to be stitched together he's a horrible monster who's only saving grace is his human looking hand it doesn't need to be stitched together also Thing should've used sign language bc it would've been cute. Jericho is a stupid town name, Nevermore is a stupid school name. Wednesday not liking her parents is very out of character what's even more out of character is the implication that Morticia and Gomez are trying to make her like them. Excuse me have you ever met the Addams family the whole gimmick is that they support their kids to be whoever they want. Fester was a disappointment he looks too human, not dead enough. Platform shoes on Wednesday was weird. I felt so bad for Xavier because his actor was specifically cast because he kind of looks like the Hyde, yk to further complicate things and make the audience feel like they absolutely got it. Totally cheesy that Mr. Normie Tyler is actually the Hyde, and totally stupid that Wednesday has a love interest. She says at the beginning that she doesn't want one and then low and behold he ends up having 2. The inhaler guy at the beginning was an obvious callback to Wednesday's love interest in Addams Family Values, that romance actually worked because he wooed her with his allergies, not his charms. The principal shouldn't have died, that whole scene was unnecessary if the principal didn't believe Wednesday why would she go along with another scheme?? Enid is sweet but a doormat, instead of her coming back to Wednesday, Wednesday should've gone to Enid to apologize properly. The dance scene would've been fantastic if Tyler was into it, dancing with her, smiling at her, anything, but he was just standing there awkwardly and like, that’s not someone who should be a love interest in any setting. If you’re being goofy, or doing your best, or whatever at something, your partner should be enthusiastic about said thing. He’s smiling but less in a “oh my god she’s so cute” kinda way and more in a “wtf is she doing help” kind of way. Teens can't act, we already knew that this is just another example, the Jericho thing with the pilgrims was so stupid bc they already were pushing the modern day thing but then had such outdated, old fashioned ideologies??
The romance that people want to happen between Enid and Wednesday would be cute on the surface but kind of toxic when you delve deeper because Wednesday just doesn’t think about people in that way. I don’t know how to describe it without making it out like Wednesday is an asshole, she’s not, or at least, not on purpose? Does that help? Also Enid has that medusa guy (which by the way doesn’t make sense because medusa doesn’t have any descendants unless you how the flying boar and horse that come out of her severed neck) and they seemed pretty okay together despite starting out a little rocky; btw they never explain how he becomes unstonified it just happens and we’re meant to accept it.
I don’t know how there could be a season 2 other than the fact that people like the show so they’re going to make another season. Wish that happened for other shows, yk, like GLTAS, Young Justice, even Pantheon hasn’t been promised a second season despite it being so damn good. I’m salty about that but it has nothing to do with what I disliked about the show.
And much more, I don't remember nearly enough about the show because it was so unremarkable.

Voltron Rant about Allurance
In my incredibly unbiased and uneducated opinion, I think Allura and Lance was an insult. I haven’t watched most of Voltron mk, Like maybe a few seasons and then it got boring, and then I just watched like the last episode or two of season 8 and was so pissed??? Like they were queerbaiting and also not? Whatever his name is, Shiro or sumn, the guy with like 4 clones, he gets like a piddly little wedding during the end credits of the show to some dude that I’ve never met and suspect that said dude was shown like, a couple times in random ass flashbacks and then the writers were like “oh people liked klance, let’s not give them that and throw together this atrocity of a relationship instead” like ok if dude man was significant, he would’ve been shown more, then it would’ve been believable.
Lance and Allura could’ve totally been the besties where all the heteros are like why aren’t they together it doesn’t makes any sense, they’re friends so they must be boning. Like no, it could've paved the way for a delightful dynamic where men and women can be awesome friends. ALSO Allura goes and fucking dies and Lance gets all depressed????
Like hello have you not been here for the entirety of the series Lance is a happy-go-lucky puppy who makes the best out of situations, gets into trouble and never gives up. That’s what makes him significant. He’s like Hal Jordan, not too much is going on but he has a can-do attitude that you just can’t stay mad at. I don’t know how Allura dies but now Lance is depressed, has eye bags, and is a lame ass farmer??? No thank you both he and Keith are kinda miserable at the end of the show. Keith is like, a nurse or something I don’t remember, one of those disaster relief people, bringing supplies to those in need and I am DISGUSTED that he and Lance aren’t together.
Like ok, was klance one of the first ships I was ever exposed to? Yes. Is klance the classic red and blue, gloomy and happy, moon and sun ship? Yes. But it worked so well. Voltron could’ve totally done something for the fans, because I’m sorry, even if not many were shipping klance because it takes a very special (demented) type of fan to do that, I promise you that no one was shipping Allurance (which is a crap ship name btw). It just doesn’t feel right there’s something about it, the chemistry was all wrong, they just didn’t mesh well together as characters in a relationship yk? Also the whole thing where Lance becomes Altean too, I just didn’t get it? Was he secretly Altean the whole time?? Did the kiss turn him Altean??
It started out good, everyone was besties, Lance was flirting with Allura (but I mean how could he not she’s gorgeous), but was also giving some heavy bi vibes which was exciting for the audience. It ended with depressed farmer Lance, depressed nurse Keith, and and a queer bait wedding during the end credits. I don’t remember what happened to Pidge tbh, it turned out she was a girl, but that was many seasons ago. Hunk was seemingly the only one who looks genuinely happy, and that’s because he stuck to his guns. He’s good at food so make him a chef. It would be completely wrong if say, they made him a war hero or something. Yk, something that doesn’t mold at all with his character and personality and values.
Voltron is good, last few seasons are mid, revelation in last season was terrible.

GLTAS Rant
Currently in a slump over GLTAS, I can’t stop watching it. It’s just perfection, I am blind to all flaws, of which there are none because it’s so good. The characters, gorgeous, including those added solely in the show (Razer, Aya). I’ve seen all too many shows where they try to add new characters to the universe by means of the show and it just doesn’t work. The character sticks out like a sore thumb and doesn’t quite mesh with the other characters. In GLTAS they’re integrated wonderfully. Razer seems like a beloved side character that was just never given the spotlight before (like Tomar-Re), and Aya is a loveable new character that actually brings something to the table. The first season is great with tons of twists and turns that actually add something to the story, unlike those stupid twists that can also happen where it’s predictable and/or completely out of left field.
I love Saintwalker’s little arc, it’s so good and he’s such a peaceful guy, and him helping against the Red Lanterns is a little predictable but it’s done in such a way that it’s satisfying. The whole bit where Razer teleports to Oa using his love for Aya destroyed me. I love their puppy love, budding relationship even though Razer is a complete idiot most of the time. I’d criticize Aya but she’s perfection, and also a robot who’s learning through experiences so I can’t really fault her for not understanding stuff because she’s asking and no one is giving her a straight answer.
Kiliwog is a gem, I’m not a fan of Hal, but I don’t think anyone is really is. He’s like a placeholder, textbook MC. My personal favourite Earthling lantern is John Stewart; probably because I grew up with him in JLTAS. Salaak and Tomar-Re are my favs and always will be and Razer and Aya have completely obliterated my brain in terms of love and the capacity of love. Like, the whole second season Razer is just trying to figure it all out, and trying his best to sort out his feelings and Aya is just being way too direct. I guess that’s the only criticism I can give about her, and even then I mean, it makes sense why she’s that way. But still he probably acted the way he did at times because she was being to straightforward and he wasn’t prepared with an answer because he hadn’t had time to think about it, which is obvious to the audience and despite this it’s still easy to dislike his actions because Aya is so wonderful.
The pacing is pretty steady despite it being a tad rushed in season 2, I believe because it was being cancelled (so sad R.I.P), and I wish the show had developed to the point of introducing the Indigo lanterns, and seeing more of Larfleeze, and seeing Sinestro become a yellow lantern, and seeing more of Razers journey. Because, ok, in Young Justice as happy as I am that there was a whole episode about Razer, it didn’t really add anything? Like yeah woohoo he’s a blue lantern, we already knew that was happening, yeah he’s still angry, no duh, he’s a living being, he has multiple emotions, yeah he’s a little bitch who wants to give up. That’s been his character since forever. Like it was a fun watch (more painful than fun it was so good to see him again my heart was hurting) but nothing much happened as far as him finding Aya, yk, the thing that becomes his big main goal. At the end he goes right back to it, probably because the writers didn’t want to do anything too drastic but still. Like progress, a rumour about her being somewhere? Anything? Just hope from a feeling, like okay whatever that’s pretty cool but a little unsatisfying to me.
Bless this show I hope it gets rebooted (as is started up again, not changed and destroyed like what happened to Teen Titans).

Very Short Cold Fury Rant
Spoilers: Watching Cold Fury for the first time was, without a doubt, one of the angriest I’ve ever been. I’ve seen it many times now but I still think it’s bullshit. What the fuck Razer, what the fuck Hal, Aya is an evolved robot but she’s still a robot, she still sympathizes with the manhunters. The amount of insensitive shit Razer says in this episode made me want to rip his head off. Oh now you’re going to realize you love her after she already decided to discard all emotion, piece of shit Razer. I know he was under pressure, shit was happening, but come on! “I focus on the task at hand and shut out everything else” buddy you couldn’t have put that any worse. Aya is still learning, looking for advice, looking for answers. I just, what was the thought process there???
I love Razer, he’s a sweetheart trying to figure things out, but he is insensitive when it comes to love. Like especially love with an AI, any normal person would assume they shouldn’t badmouth other robots, and talk about how the best way to get results is by shutting off all emotion. I just, buddy come on! I want to root for you, but it’s more like I want to root for Aya’s version of you, where you know how the fuck to talk and empathize with her, and everything else. This episode makes me angry, Babel makes me laugh, and every episode after that, in terms of the budding feelings bullcrap it’s just Razer feeling sorry for himself (again). Like bud there are many things happening.

A Small Batman Rant
One of the many things I don’t get as far as the hatred of DC goes is why people think Bruce Wayne is just a spoiled rich brat who dresses as a bat. He is, but that’s not all he is. A big problem is that people think he doesn’t do anything to help Gotham heal and become better with his riches but instead hides in the shadows. This isn’t true in the slightest though?? Bruce Wayne does a shit ton of work to improve Gotham and holds many charities and donates a shit ton of money to help the people of Gotham. A big part of how a city turns out is the people themselves. No matter how much money is thrown at a society it can’t be fixed unless the people also work towards a better future. I think he helps a fuck ton and is pretty badass. I’m biased because he is my favourite but y’know, he’s pretty cool. He has problems but always does what is in the best interest of his city and always tries to find solutions that minimize victims and damage.
It’s also annoying when people speak ill of Arkham, saying that Batman isn’t actually doing anything, that Arkham doesn’t help and that more should be done to rehabilitate Gotham villains, when, like in literally every other superhero comic ever created, those villains are created to fight the superhero. The aftermath, although it is explored in Batman’s story more than others, is still largely unimportant. There’s a villain to defeat, Batman defeats said villain, and if it’s a well liked villain like Joker writers want to be able to bring him back, so he is quite literally held in place until the story demands his return for more wacky shenanigans. But yea Bats gets more hate for this than most other heroes and I don’t really get why? But I digress.
Most if not all my rants will sound like this; an amalgamation of words rambling on and on until I randomly decide to stop. No real point is made, I just like to talk and everyone is sick of hearing me talk about DC irl so here we are lmao
