I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

every few months some annoying motherfucker makes a post asking why it's called 'spirk' instead of 'spork' or 'kock' and the short, easy answer is: spirk is already the silly ship name, the og ship name is 'k/s' and the og og ship name is 'the premise', because spirk is a ship so old that it was around before ship names were invented. now never come into my house again.

just found the most fascinating anti-ai person who is only anti-ai because they make and sell the software that spambots USED to use to flood the internet with low quality SEO-bait garbage and chatgpt is putting them out of business. what a fascinating category of human to be. i had never even considered that someone had to be actually making the spambots and that they have feelings too.

Children deserve patience.
I remember all the times growing up that I’d get in trouble for something I said or did, and I’d get in more trouble when I asked for an explanation. I was told I was “talking back” or being a “smart ass” when I literally was just trying to understand.
I also find that I’d get punished for being emotional. Even if I didn’t handle them in the right way, that was an opportunity to teach me how to handle them better. Instead I got in trouble and it just taught me to suppress my emotions. And honestly? Adults have bad days and difficulty handling their emotions. But somehow as a child, I was punished for not being perfect.
I think, for my parents at least, they’d get upset and ask why I was disrespecting them or doing something to them. And I think that’s the problem. They took my actions to mean I was maliciously trying to upset them when that was never the case. Instead of sitting back and trying to figure out why a child might be doing what they’re doing, they took it personally and that’s what made them so angry. If you think someone is intentionally trying to upset you, it’s going to likely upset you. And that wasn’t a fair assumption to make.
Children deserve patience and the benefit of the doubt.

Popularity can be a bane and a boon at the exact same time, but I feel it's more a bane to some people than others. Unfortunately, popularity can also come with monetary gain, so even those who suffer because of their popularity sometimes find themselves trapped with "content" creation being their only source of income. They may hate the pressure of attention, but it's the only way to make money so they can no longer just enjoy making their art in a vacuum.
It's very sad seeing someone passionate about something slowly start to dislike it because they got too popular over it. But Hell, they still need to sell Patron subscriptions and stickers to support themself. So then there's this string of rushed hyper-focused work because if they don't pump it out they'll have to stop moving and introspect, and unfinished pieces because they got too excited then imploded when the fans were too much to handle.
The trade off of destroying one's body and mind for a few hundred bucks so one can afford food and what little medical assistance one can get is shitty. Then, on top of that, whenever the pressure gets too heavy and one cracks again, the fans will either see them as whiney and aggressive or coddle them like a child, and neither option feels comfortable. The entire system is self-sabotaging.
Just damn. Popularity thrust upon the wrong person can really burn them inside and out. And even upon the “right” person it can burn through them because it’s so difficult for a single person to keep up the momentum and be their own PR manager.
