florenceboot:
Don’t fret. I know it was the man with far too many buttons undone for that amount of chest hair.
I’m honestly not even surprised.
He looks the type.

“You had it right the first time. Well, would’ve, if you’d left the sass out, but close enough.”
“What’ve you been up to?”
“You set yourself up for that one.”
“Well, you know, this and that - Auror business, sleep, eating, hanging out with Frank - the usual. What’ve you been up to?”

That would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?
Yeah, I suppose it would.

But you laughed.
Yeah, you kinda-maybe-sorta inspire that in me.

Glad to hear it.
Kidding.

You did. I know I’m easier to see from far away but you have to learn to look up.
You’re dumb.

I -- yeah, I think that’s what the WWN said this morning.
It’s going to be quite warm for Easter, isn’t it?

“What’s the magic word?”
“Please. Or are you referring to the several other thousands of ‘magic words’ we see used on a daily basis?”

No can do.
Sorry, two seconds. Hey, are you okay?
Mhmm.
Yeah. I’m good. Just, thought I saw someone I needed to talk to.

marlenemick:
“Well that depends,” said Marlene, flipping her hair aside as she hooked arms with Alice on their way to the end of the counter. “What time does it open? Because there’s an algorilla or whatever fancy maths word it is for how far ahead you’re supposed to arrive, I think. We’ll have to ask someone else to do it, obviously, but…” she trailed off with a shrug.
Alice let herself go, her shoulders growing lax as she hooked her arms with Marlene. “Think it’s sometime like eleven? Algorilla? Like those giant ape-things they look at in zoos? Wait, I think it’s an... Algorithm?” She shrugged slightly. “Something like that. Think there’ll be a big queue? I hope not. I’d actually like to not stand outside for a ridiculous amount of time.”

“They don’t need to know that, though.”
“Oh, of course not. What they don’t know won’t hurt them.”

“It’s really just a fact. We both love her too much for it to be too much of an insult, anyways.”
“They do, don’t they? I hope you’re taking care of yourself too. I can’t believe I really wanted to be an Auror for a bit there, I don’t think it would’ve been for me.”
“That’s a truer statement than any other you’ve ever made.”
“They really do. I am, I swear. I eat breakfast and sleep enough, promise. It’s hard work. Swear I haven’t seen my hands without ink on them for weeks. They just seemed to be perpetually covered.”

“I can imagine. Seems like there’s a bit going on over there.”
“Work’s as well as it can be. Moo’s good too. I swear he’s grown since you’d have last seen him.”
“Just a bit?” Alice joked, trying to ease the tension, although far more of it was on her end than it was Dawn’s.
“That’s good. Oh, he has? I swear he’s bigger every time I see him."

“Now you sound like Amelia.” He joked. “I know, you’re right. I guess I’m just trying to figure out what else I want my life to be.”
“Well, Amelia’s one smart cookie.” She flashed a grin. “I hope you figure it out soon, Henry, though something tells me you’ll do just fine.”

“I cannot agree with you more.” Personally Narcissa had enjoyed very few of the Gothic Novels, preferring the fairy tale and romance genre a lot more. However her parents had preferred her to read the classics, feeling that romance would mess with her head too much. “I suppose you see a lot more of the craziness than I do here in the office. But the paperwork is enough to tell me just how mad things have become.”
Alice, honestly, was just glad someone saw the same thing as she did. She knew all too well they saw things through different lenses, that they were on different ends of their social spectrums. “It’s nice to hear that someone does.” She cleared her throat, sliding a piece of paper beneath her elbow. “It’s complete madness. And some people are just ignoring it - because they can’t, or they don’t, want to face it.”
