The vast majority of the rules are there to support combat, so it's only natural that the majority of play would also be combat. I played a short lancer campaign and the roleplay sections were the messiest and least fun parts to play because the GM was trying to stick to the rules as written too closely.

The game is good and fun, but it certainly isn't built for strong character roleplay. That's something the players have to bring to the table.

The thing is, I fucking LOVE lancer lore and all the ideas and politics that go into it.

But it really feels more like a war game in practice than a role playing game, there’s rather little room for actual roleplay and character beats when almost all of it is centered around combat.

Images like these are always so interesting. At first it's immediately a bit bizarre, and then you ask why? who would plaster the walls with cardboard? What's with the trash bag?

Then you see the mic stand and the amps. Maybe they help with noise cancellation, stopping echos and feedback. The trash bags taped to the walls could mean that the walls are damaged somehow and this was all they could do to fix it.

Strange, deeply human things. It's being sold and the residents haven't even taken everything out yet, if they ever will.
