Small reminder to say that your ship art is beautiful, wonderful, and very valuable and important! The world is better with your creativity in it! If others fail to see it's value, that's their problem, you're doing amazing! <333

i think gen z ppl need to stop trying to moderate social media– which is impossible to moderate– and just go on forums already. “this is for mlm, wlw dni” bruh i’m telling you, if you discover mlm forums you’ll go bananas. everyone there will be mlm, i promise. this is genuinely friendly advice. stop wasting your time trying to control your twitter and tik tok, it won’t work because it’s designed to not be controlled.

"You shouldn't have to share your trauma to justify the art you make"
and
"Being that many proship people are victims of abuse, we should do our best to make eachother feel welcome to open up about that trauma and the role it plays in our art" can and should both be true

To anyone who has ever lost any “Friends” for being Proship
I’m sorry. I’m sorry that instead of seeing you as a person with thoughts and feelings, you were seen as a villain and evil person.
You are NOT any of those things. You are a BEAUTIFUL person who has a heart kind enough to know that people are NOT their fictional preferences.
You are an AMAZING person who NEVER judges anyone for their fictional tastes.
Fuck the Antis who dropped you like a hot potato just because you’re proship. They are not worth your time.
You are KIND
You are BEAUTIFUL
And you are LOVED ❤️

➡️ Content warnings on fiction are a courtesy.
➡️ Not every medium of fiction and storytelling has or is expected to have content warnings or extensive tagging.
➡️ Print novels do not traditionally warn for content in any way.
➡️ Until AO3 came along, fanfiction did not traditionally warn for content in any significant way.
➡️ An author is only obligated to warn for content to the degree mandated by the format they publish their fiction on.
➡️ Content warnings beyond the minimum are a courtesy, not an obligation.
➡️ 'Creator chose not to warn' is a valid tag that authors are allowed to use on AO3. It means there could be anything in there and you have accepted the risk. 'May contain peanuts!'
➡️ Writers are allowed to use 'Creator chose not to warn' for any reason, including to maintain surprise and avoid spoilers.
➡️ 'Creator chose not to warn' is not the same thing as 'no archive warnings apply'.
➡️ It is your responsibility to protect yourself and close a book, or hit the back button if you find something in fiction that you're reading that upsets you.
➡️ You are responsible for protecting yourself from fiction that causes you discomfort.

What do you think are some effective, everyday kind of ways to oppose censorship? There's so much authoritarianism out there. It feels like an uphill battle.
The average, every day person has the same tools to oppose censorship as they have to oppose every injustice.
Refuse to be silent about it.
Speak up about it.
Don't let voices who champion censorship and oppression go unopposed.
Point out when someone is advocating censorship, and why it's bad.
Point out and bring attention to the real, powerful groups that advocate censorship, and how advocating censorship of any kind gives those groups power.
Bring attention to the link between advocating censorship in the small scale, to advocating censorship on a societal scale.
Oppression of any kind thrives in your silence.
Censorship is a tool meant to silence you.
Refuse to be silent.

I absolutely hate it when dumba** youtubers talk about fanartists(mostly shippers) and refer to it as "raising awareness"
like no, you're not raising awareness, you're just trying to make a cringe compilation video without getting backlash by frameing this person as being worse than they actually are and therefore trying to convince people that your bullying is somehow "justified". because in reality this person is not doing anything wrong, you just disagree with their taste in ships or the themes they decide to portray in their art

Saw an anti claiming 'cops would love proship people' as if cops don't have a long established history of beating, arresting, and murdering queer people and sex workers

Hey, take it from someone creeping towards 40:
Ignore the fun police.
If you like it, order your steak well done. Get your bagel toasted with jam and butter. Put ice in your scotch and ketchup on your hotdog. Get red wine with fish and white with steak. Who cares?
If you want to, listen to pop music. Watch blockbuster popcorn flicks. Read dime store novels. Enjoy them.
Dye your hair or cut it off. Paint your fingernails blue. Wear whatever the fuck you want on your own time (ie, when not at a job or school or whatever where you can get penalized for breaking rules) as long as you aren’t like welding or shoveling snow.
Anyone who tries to tell you you’re wrong? Say “okay” and go back to what you were doing. You’re not hurting them by enjoying yourself or having things the way you like them.
There are no caveats or addendums to this. No “but what about x?” Nah. You’re allowed the things you like. You don’t have to justify your taste or apologize for it if it’s not hurting anyone.
And likewise, let other people live their lives. We’re all dead in the long run, so tend your own garden before you become fertilizer in it.

Regarding DNI’s and cards and whatnot, what the people who make these want is not unreasonable per se.
Rather, what they are asking for is unreasonable, because what they want is to not be using social media. They want to be using forums, or group chats, or instant messenger, or blogs; they want online communication spaces that are moderated, that are topic-specific, that are limited to existing/vetted members. And these desires are not unreasonable, but it does not match modern social media. And because so many of the people who make these seem so very young, I wonder how many of them even realize that spaces that do what they want can (and used to, and still somewhat do) exist, realize that social media can't do what they want it to, but that social media is not the only way for the internet to be.
This.
It is reasonable to want to not want to interact with people. And on the surface, DNIs make logical sense. But folks just don't tend to think about the fact that most of that interaction nowadays on these popular medias is coming from off of their blog/account, and the odds of somebody clicking onto their account to look for a DNI before liking/reblogging/etc is so, so, so slim. And that if they want to curate with a DNI, they do indeed need to find a forum. Or, hell, even discord. Or literally anything else that requires you to be 'vetted' before gaining access.
Good post, anon. Nailed it.

No no, they have a point; it's so horrible and and awful when the icky proshippers INVADE proship spaces!!! Proship spaces aren't for proshippers... /s
Tumblr media
I can’t with this shit. People have no idea what they are talking about anymore. Critical thinking is dead. People don’t know the history of fandom or the definition of proship. Dead dove is absolutely a proship thing (not exclusive to those that use the label, but in the sense that its fucked up fiction that has the right to exist), but they seem to think that if we write about then it’s sexual and therefore bad. These antis are ones to fucking talk though, their fellow antis will eventually turn on them once they find out that they enjoy dark fic. Too bad they can’t seem to understand that we’re on their side.
I’m just so done with antis and their lack of brain cells.

Love letter (/p) to all the proshippers who are stuck in anti environments.
I'm sorry that you're in an environment or stuck in a place where you can't be yourself. You may be barrated with negativity constantly at people with the same views as you and that's not fair. Despite this you keep with your beliefs that no one should be subjected to harassment or bullying and that's amazing, I'm so proud of you. You're doing a good thing and one day you'll be able to express yourself. This silent abuse you go through from the communities you're in is toxic and not good for your mental health, but I get the feeling of needing to stay. You may have friends in those communities that you don't want to let go of and that's normal. Just try to make sure you're not hurting yourself by staying and try to find some people who understand you.
Stay strong!

#there is a difference between someone drawing our their csa to cope#and someone making fictional cp
Antis once again proving that they have no idea what they are talking about.
"Fictional cp" is not a thing. CSEM is material that harms an actual child. Or in the case of AI (which would be the only "fictional" aspect you could argue) it would have to be indistinguishable from an actual child. Cartoon drawings or words on a page are not a real child. No real child is being harmed. There is no victim for you to defend here. If drawings or words are indistinguishable from real CSEM to you then that sounds like a problem you need to work out on your own.
Furthermore it's ridiculous to think you'd be able to tell at a glance what art is made to cope and what is made purely for pleasure. You think the Good, Acceptable drawings paint their characters with appropriate frowns on their faces and storm clouds overhead, while the Bad, Unacceptable drawings feature big smiles and floating hearts?
One person could draw something to cope and another could draw something to get off and they could still end up with remarkably similar drawings. Or two people could draw to cope and end up with wildly different interpretations of their trauma. Or two people could draw to get off and also have two very different pieces of art. There is no One Way to do fiction.
And assuming you can tell the difference based on a completely arbitrary set of standards that, let's face it, only you adhere to is incredibly myopic and downright stupid.
