They Revealed That Steven Universe Was Pink Diamond In Season 2

Remember that episode “Say Uncle”? The April Fools episode in which “nothing was canon”?

Uncle Grandpa tells Steven that he needs to get his gem polished “twice a year”- every six months.

Looking back, this is strange. Rose Quartz does not need to be polished at all- it’s just not needed.

But, what does need to be polished twice a year? Diamond.

According to a gem cleaning website, TheSpruce, diamonds need to be professionally cleaned “once every six months”. Or twice a year.

A line ignored in an April Fools episode revealed the biggest plot twist in the show’s history.

Depression

Who am I to be? This mask I wear, that everyone sees. But at times she cracks, and breaks. Then there is the fake. You see, underneath, she is real. Having to truly feel. The dreaded ‘d’ holds on. It has it’s hand around her neck, and there is no dawn. It gets glorified and judged all at once. And she, what a dunce. It’s that deep seeded hatred, held by those like her. She knows she should be better, but that’s such a blur. For years and years, she hides behind the mask. But years will wear it down, just pass her the flask. For she and I are the same, but just reflections looking back at each other. A drink, I need another. It is a dull rumble in the back of the mind. It whispers and seems so kind. It’s dark, that corner it lives in. What a wickedly sweet grin. A squeeze to her neck. It is all it needs to remind her to break. Shove her face down and take everything. All it does is cling. Hope is a light so far away. Her dirt covered face, covered in gray. All she can do is pray. As she lays. A bleeding heart. A pool of crimson starts. What a laugh it has. Smooth as jazz. It starts in her fingers and toes. The cold, feels like millions of blows. I stand there, staring as she slowly dies. I can feel it looking at me, those eyes. She is just a child. She should be running wild. I am grown. Holding a stone.

This glass between us is old. To be so bold? I can’t look back now. Can I keep this vow. I hear her cries as I slowly back away. Please stay! Don’t leave me alone! I feel it in my bones! Just another few steps. Don’t misstep. The silence is broken by a loud crack. Nothing holding it back. I kneel down beside her. It stirs. I grab her hand. I get a backhand. It doesn’t like what I am doing. It is brewing. I don’t let go. Neither does she. Holding each other, we look to see the world we are in. In the middle of light and darkness. It is still there. And I am tired. I give her a hug and kiss on the cheek. She knows and so do I. It creeps closer. She stands and looks right. Towards the light. Go. She runs. It jumps. I close my eyes and hold on tight to this dark being. Because she and I, are one. And it is my turn. Be free.
