Predictably, I pre-ordered the queer(er) contemporary retelling of the Henriad. I love the prose; it's trenchant and funny and the fact that the author did an MA thesis on medieval English kingship (!) only helps.

Currently reading: Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin
I stand at the window of this great house in the south of France as night falls, the night which is leading me to the most terrible morning of my life.
There is nothing I can add to the discussion around this book that has not already been said by someone much more erudite than me. It's beautiful. Go read it.

Library Haul!
I love reading. And I love owning books, but I also am constantly at the library. When I was growing up, I visited the library with my mom and my sisters. In our town it was a brick building (in my memory it's huge) across the street from a park with a pond, where we would go after we'd checked out a new stack of books to lay in the grass and watch the ducks.
My current library is also a brick building, actually. No duck pond nearby, unfortunately, but it's a lovely place with lovely people.
Here's what I have out:
-Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh (what I'm reading now, as you can see by the bookmark)
-These Fragile Graces, This Fugitive Heart by Izzy Wasserstein
-The Besieged City by Clarice Lispector
-Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield
-Family Lexicon by Natalia Ginzburg
-Parasol Against the Axe by Helen Oyeyemi
-Brutes by Dizz Tate
