We all know im the resident "defending Lloyd" girlie. However. I cannot defend him in his teaching method when it comes to Arin.

Lloyd, I love you, but telling your student who is CLEARLY struggling with self esteem that he is "going to be a better ninja" than the literal saviors of Ninjago, Arin's idols since he was a young boy...

Urggh it hurts because that's not the reassurance that Lloyd thinks it is and it's only contributing to and fueling Arin's feelings of inadequacy because he feels like he has to live up to Lloyd and the other Ninjas legacy.

Of course, this is kind of multi-faceted because Lloyd grew up as a destined hero prodigy and being told that he was going to be the greatest. It's normal for him... and it "worked", to some degree. So why wouldn't it work for Arin?

I think Lloyd needs to stop "reassuring" Arin and actually sit down and listen to him. If he just listened, it would help Arin so much. But Lloyd isn't listening. It's like every time Arin essentially pleads for help, Lloyd just shuts him down because of what he could be.

It's just so beautifully tragic.

#THISSS AUGGHHHGJGGJG #lloyd is unintentionally a horrible mentor #for his whole life he was basically 'reassured' in that way and was always pressured to be the greatest bc he was destined to #and like you said it 'worked' in a way #so seeing arin's skills he thinks that it would work on him as well when it's NOT the case at all #like you said he shuts him down because of *what he **could** be* #and doesn't focus on the self doubt that's basically plagueing him every waking moment #he tries to reassure him but that's *not* reassurance #that's giving arin even bigger shoes to fill #I was shocked when lloyd told him he could be a better ninja than any of them when they're literally the saviours of ninjago #he and they're all of arin's idols from day 1 bro #to arin he's basically saying that he has to live up to their legacy #and that adds even more self doubt to the box already overfilled with it #you could clearly see how done arin was when he simply just shoved lloyd away when he tried to reassure him after injuring egalt #lloyd spent his entire life full of this 'reassurance' and even tho it was harmful (harm he didn't realize about) it worked *for him* #so he's using that method for arin without realizing how much it's harming him #especially with how arin feels like no one is taking him seriously #arin can't get a moment without being shut down bc what he *could be* is something amazing #but he doesn't want to know what he could be #he wants to know what he is now. what he can do now #what he *can* be *now* #but everyone and especially lloyd shut him down #and that just hurts #fsm family generational trauma goddamnit 👍👍 #hannah tag

And if she took the waste tunnels, does that mean that prior to the Merge, there was no security in it, due to a lack of fear of as many Outlanders possibly getting in?
