Today, February 8th, marks the release date of Yo-kai Watch 3! Unlike Yo-kai Watch 2 and Yo-kai Watch Blasters, the localized version of the game only has one version, based on Sukiyaki, having all the new features added in that version. It is currently the last Yo-kai Watch game to have been localized worldwide, due to bad sales of the series, and is also often seen as the best by fans.

Fact #85
Oddly, shortly after the Japanese airing of the Yo-kai Watch anime's 39th episode, Gourmet School Lunch Episode 2: Pudding! / Yo-kai Failian / Yo-kai Spoilerina on October 10th, 2014, the episode was "temporarily suspended for undisclosed reasons," with the anime's digital streaming also being suspended on the episode's air date. No explanation has ever been given for this suspension, though it is thought to be due to a cue card that, in Japanese, says "A meaty volcanic explosion," being compared to a volcanic eruption that took place on September 27th, 2014, though the episode was in production before the incident.
When the episode did air again, on December 24th, 2014, the only change was in the Yo-kai Failian segment, where the dance people inspirited by Failian do after pranking someone was reanimated, removing resemblance to the choreography of Pink Lady's UFO, with the music also being redone. Additionally, text in the background reading "USO" was added, though most dubs removed this, apart from some which use the original visuals and music; a comparison of both the USA airing and the Malaysian airing, as well as the original Japanese airing and the Malay airing, can be found below (credit to YouTube user Meor Adi the Anime Otaku).

Fact #84
While Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters is meant to be the definitive third version of Yo-kai Watch 2, it is actually missing content from the other versions, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, namely the version-exclusive requests, which all instead have their own counterparts in Psychic Specters.
Train Lie-in with Pride/Slicenrice Under Fire are replaced with Directator's All-Star Cast, Seal No Evil/The Price of Iron are replaced with A Real Charmer, The Realest Kappa/From the Future are replaced with Trying Tangle Tango, and The Bony General/Fleshy Souls General and Enma and the Serpent/The Old Fox Shrine don't have replacements, though many new requests were added to the post-game.

Today, July 11th, marks the 10th anniversary of the initial Japanese release date of the original Yo-kai Watch, considered the anniversary of the whole series by Level-5! While it has a very simple plot, with not much buildup happening until the end, it establishes many foundations for the series, as you play as Nate or Katie and meet many Yo-kai - including Whisper, Jibanyan and Komasan - and eventually have to stop Chairman McKraken's takeover of the Yo-kai World.

Fact #83
An odd inconsistency is present in the English version of Yo-kai Watch Blasters; other Yo-kai Watch games keep Jibanyan's verbal tic untranslated, making it "nyan" or "nya." However, this isn't the case in Blasters, where Jibanyan's verbal tic is "meow," like Tomnyan's in Yo-kai Watch 3.
This isn't only inconsistent with other games in the series, but with Blasters itself; Jibanyan B's dialogue in the Blasters House correctly has his verbal tic as "nyan," even though no other dialogue in the game does.

Fact #82
Of every Yo-kai in the franchise, the only one who hasn't appeared in any spin-off game thus far is DON-CHAN. This is likely due to him being a character from another franchise, namely Taiko no Tatsujin, but unlike other crossover characters, he doesn't even appear in Yo-kai Watch: PuniPuni.

Fact #81
It interestingly seems that, in Yo-kai Watch 3, instead of removing locations from Yo-kai Watch 2 that were made inaccessible (said locations being mostly in the past, alongside the Infinite Inferno, the Hexpress, GeraGera Resort and its sub-locations, the Divine Paradise, and Mystery Way, among other locations), most of their maps were kept in the game data.
The Memory Store, the Deserted House variation when Teastroyer is fought, the Hexpress and Happy-Go-Lucky Express, and GeraGera Resort and its sub-locations are all completely accessible without issue, though no NPCs are present, and the rollercoaster and Pallysol platforms in GeraGera Land don't function.

The Infinite Tunnel is more interesting; in the game, it's used for a Gate of Whimsy room, but the version in the game files is very incomplete, with missing textures. The only objects visible are a power box and a door, and going far enough teleports you to the Other Side. Even odder, if you pause the game, the gray textures turn cyan.

Fact #80
Many things had to be changed when localizing Yo-kai Watch Blasters, due to copyright complications that would be caused due to references to the Ghostbusters franchise.
The first of these comes in the form of the name; the Japanese version of the game is instead referred to as Yo-kai Watch Busters, a direct reference to the Ghostbusters franchise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The outfits of Jibanyan, Komasan and Usapyon B had to be completely changed for the same reason, as they were also references to the Ghostbusters franchise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Busters, instead of being called Whisped Cream, the final boss is called Whismellowman, as a reference to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from, unsurprisingly at this point, the Ghostbusters franchise. In Blasters, as well as being renamed, he was additionally redesigned, though interestingly, neither of these changes are present in Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble.

Fact #79
Yo-kai Watch 3 has many unused maps, including locations from the previous Yo-kai Watch video games; among these are the entirety of Old Springdale and Old Harrisville from Yo-kai Watch 2. In the final game, only a small portion of Old Springdale is accessible.

Fact #78
Komasan and Komajiro's sister, Komami, wasn't the first attempt at making a sister for the two.
Story proposal drafts for the Yo-kai Watch Komasan manga included plans for a sister, Komasaburo, whose inclusion was rejected by Level-5. Her name is interestingly shared with the human baby Koma Kaa-chan adopts in the second Yo-kai Watch movie, Lord Enma and the Five Tales, Nyan!, due to them both coming from the Japanese word saburo, meaning third son.

Fact #77
The original Yo-kai Watch has many unused maps of locations that would later be made accessible in Yo-kai Watch 2, namely the second floor of Fortune Hospital, Toys iZ We, Sushi Springdale, and Chloro-Phil Good.
Fortune Hospital, Sushi Springdale and Chloro-Phil Good are all identical to their appearances in Yo-kai Watch 2, aside from lighting differences in Chloro-Phil Good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toys iZ We is more incomplete, with placeholder textures and incomplete models. Interestingly, Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch makes Toys iZ We accessible, with the same map as in Yo-kai Watch 2.

Fact #76
Due to releasing before Yo-kai Watch 3, Yo-kai Watch Blasters has some inconsistencies with the game in question, especially when it comes to Usapyon; his dialogue lacks his accent and he doesn't appear as grouchy as in other games, the anime, and the manga.

Fact #75
The Yo-kai Watch Blasters Sub Mission Bottom-of-the-Barrel Blasters interestingly shows Cheeksqueek's Inspiriting having the same effect as the Red Box. In Yo-kai Watch 2, the Red Box has the chance to make a trail of farts appear behind you for thirty minutes if you're playing as Nate, or a trail of hearts appear behind you if you're playing as Katie.
In the Bottom-of-the-Barrel Blasters Sub Mission, Cheeksqueek's Inspirit gives its standard effect of making the Inspirited person fart to Nate, and makes hearts appear behind Katie instead. This is contradictory to other forms of media, where Cheeksqueek's Inspirit always functions the same, even on Katie.
