This past summer, I worked in a non-denominational summer camp, completely free for children with financial, physical and emotional needs and disabilities. This past summer, completely because of Our Lady Queen of Peace Summer Camp, changed my life as well as thousands of children’s lives over the course of 8 weeks. Unfortunately, because we are a non-profit organisation, we rely entirely on funding and we have not received enough of it to run this summer! If you could donate anything, anything at all it could really help us out. Many of the children that we take in come from extremely difficult households and it is their favourite part of the whole year to come to camp! 

Just last summer, I had many children give me insight into their lives; a 13 year old trans boy told me during his week at camp, was that he looked forward to camp all year, all year because it was the only place in which every single person accepted his identity and used his pronouns without question. This place is very important for him, as well as for people like him.

I watched a 10 year old suicidal boy completely turn his attitude around and and completely accept the love that was being extended towards him, he cried with us the day he left and promised to make it to camp next year

I saw a 12 year old homophobe turn his attitude around and identify the reason he was thinking like that, he even let me colour his eyebrows blue.

I recently found out my friend, an ex camper, was able to escape an abusive home life with his family through camp and that he still thought about it every day, still remembered his counsellors, still remembered his fellow campers and how they all impacted his life.

I saw so many unique children, all from different walks of life come together and experience this beautiful, collective love. Please, please, please! Donate to us, even the smallest amount is fine! help us re-open this incredible place to every employee and every camper. Please let us have this.
