Two more articles on bajriga cultivation and bajriga identification methods have been published on bdnews24.com. This article will be more helpful for those who want to keep these birds. Shahidul Islam, a bird lover, tells from personal experience.
The buzzard is a forest bird mainly in the east and south-west coast regions of Australia. Moreover, this bird can be seen in Tasmania and some surrounding countries. Forest-dwelling millets can grow to about 6.5 to 7 inches in length. But caged birds are 7 to 8 inches long. Wild birds weigh 25 to 35 grams. And cage reared birds weigh from 35 to 40 grams.
Only in Australia, Melopsittacus, this bird was recorded in the 1700s. Millet is naturally green and yellow with black color. There are also blue, white, yellow patches. The whole body is blue, yellow or other colors under the belly. By conducting research on this bird, the inhabitants of Australia started breeding and got success. You can know that frequent breeding is possible for this bird. Once it starts giving birth, it doesn't stop.
Bajrigar's Name
They also have different names like the beak of the teal bird. For example; Albino, Lutino Bile, Dinespie and English Barley. Albino is white in color, Lutino is yellow in color with red eyes. Bajriga is one of the most popular pet birds in the world.
Ways to Recognize Male and Female, Small and Large
At 4 months of age, it is identified by the color on the top of the nose. For example, the male bird will have a pink nose color first. The color will turn blue with age. And the color of the female bird's nose will be white. With increasing age will be kheri or chocolate. It is also possible to determine the difference in calls between men and women.
The way to identify small and large is mainly by looking at the eyes. Smaller birds will have bigger eyes. The size of the eyes will be small in keeping with the growth. Because eye circles do not develop until adulthood. Also, the color of the nose will be dark.
Reproductive Age, Eggs and Young
They live for 4 to 5 years in the wild. About 10 to 12 years in cages. It takes four months to become fertile. But reproductive capacity is very high at the age of four to eight months. According to those who are more experienced in keeping birds, it is not advisable to form a pair before the age of eight months. At a young age, the egg-child does not take full form. Initially they lay 4-5 eggs. Later the number may increase to eight or more. However, up to 12 eggs are reported to lay. It takes 17-18 days from egg to hatch. The young are able to fly at 30 to 35 days of age.
Be Careful with Purchases and other Matters
Those who grow bajriga as a hobby lose patience at some point. This bird does not breed without a quiet environment. Adult in four to five months, but often does not start breeding until 10-12 months of age.
If the husband and wife are right, you have to be patient. Birds cannot be changed again and again because they are not laying eggs. But be very careful while buying. First you can understand by looking at the eye circle. But sellers are very clever. So it is better if you choose yourself without trusting word of mouth. Moreover, it is wise to buy very beautiful and disease-free birds with those who are more experienced in this matter.
Nurturing
The price of a cage suitable for breeding is 300 rupees. Success is unlikely to come with a pair of birds. So it is better to start with at least two pairs of birds first. Two pairs of birds with two males and two females should be between three and four months of age. The price of two pairs of three or four month old birds is between 1 thousand and 1 thousand 200 taka.
At first keep only male birds in a cage until they are at least six to seven months old. Keep only the female bird in another cage in the same way. Now put them in two cages.
Hang the pot in one corner of the cage within one to two months of cage placement. One end of the sitting stick should be close to the mouth of the pot. So that it can easily enter the pot from the stick. Small stick cannot be given. The sitting stick should be a wooden or bamboo mat. It is not proper to give any such stick as iron, iron pipe or posnastic pipe. Place mineral blocks, sea foam and grids in the cage. The water container will be away from the bird. And it is better if the food container is under the pot. Because the containers should be safe from bird droppings.
Changing the nest or changing the location of the bird will hinder the reproduction of the bird. So be patient.
Food Duties
Every day the list of food will have the same amount of China-Cown. A small amount of sunflower seeds, linseed, gujitil, safflower seeds and Polao rice. Or seed mixes are available at bird feed stores.
Give Kalmi Shaak or Palna Shaak three days a week. Rice and Kalmi vegetables help in fat burning and reproduction. It is better to change the water every morning. To reduce food wastage, if not every day, every other day in the morning, the food husks should be thrown away and new food should be mixed.
There is no problem to leave the bird for a walk. In this case modern methods should be used. You can find a filter system that does not waste water in bird buying and selling stores. Boiling water will last for more than 10 days. Price is not too high 20 rupees each.
A separate care must be taken in the case of those who are or will be rearing commercially. Because it will cost less. If the weight of the bird increases, then the cost of feeding pollow rice will be higher.
If taken care of, this bird does not get sick. Moreover, these days you will get help from experts in all matters on Facebook.
Birds Suitable for Sale
35 to 40 days old birds can be sold. Can be sold through haat, shop or Facebook.
You can visit any place like bird farm, pet house, market. It will increase your interest and the experience will be useful.
Ways to Identify Bajrigar
Buzzards are called cage birds. Keeping or catching wild birds is a legal offence. Caged birds live in cages from birth. If these birds are left outside, they will not find shelter, on the contrary, they will surely become food for crows. This kind of caged bird is Bajriga.
Many people fulfill their hobby by keeping these birds. Also earning. There can also be many problems while keeping hobby birds. The first problem is determining the age of the bird.
It usually costs 800 taka to buy 1 pair of bajrigars. Bird traders often say for the sake of selling, "After a few days this pair will lay eggs."
6 months have passed since the purchase and the bird is not laying any more eggs.
The price of a young pair of birds is usually 400 rupees. But full-grown birds are said to be laying eggs and sold for 800 taka. In this case, the buyer is cheating.
Not only that, sometimes the pairing is also wrong. Both birds in a pair can become either male or female. Again, even if you combine a pair of young birds with full-grown Bajriga, they will not breed.
Ways to Know
Adult male beagle has a blue membrane around its nostrils. This membrane extends between the forehead and lips along with the nostrils.
A mature female bajriga has a brown membrane surrounding its nostrils. This membrane extends between the forehead and lips along with the nostrils.
The membrane around the nostrils of young male beagle is pink or purple in color. This color changes with time. At the age of 6-7 months, this color becomes blue.
The color of the nasal membrane of some white or yellow millets is a light white-blue combination.
On the other hand, the membrane around the nose of a young female Bajriga is pale white, pink or blue in color. Again there can be blue-white combination. At the age of 6-7 months, this color changes to brown.
Because of this, it is not easy to know whether the 3-4 month old Bajriga is male or female.
However, there are several signs that determine the age of millets.
* Juvenile Bajrigares usually have striped spots on their foreheads. A full-grown bajrigari has fuller forehead color and the striped spots disappear.
* The eyes of the young Bajrigare are quite large. There is no ring around the eyeball. The eyes of the adult millet are quite small. A ring forms around the eyeball. And the 2 eyes are slightly inward.
* Nasal membrane of young Bajriga is light pink. When mature, the male bajriga will be blue in color. And mature female millet will be brown in color. There may be exceptions here. Adult male millets are white or yellow in color with pale white and bluish tints.
* Juvenile bajriga birds have spots or spots under the throat that are indistinct and small. In adults, the spots are clear and large.
