• a professor in KPI faculty of chemistry messaged her students that their only homework is to make molotov cocktails

• in Kharkiv people fucking stole a tank piece by piece while russian troops looked for diesel fuel

• in Dnipro a civilian shitted on a russian mark that helps to navigate their shellings

• obolonian gopniks assaulted russian armored carrier with a piece of asphalt & when a soldier came out they beated him up too

• a video where a man noticed russian troops in disguise & exposed them by demanding to say "паляниця" (a word which russians are struggling to pronounce). also a video where a man shouts after the sounds of explosions 'FUCK YOU I DIDN'T FINISH MY SOUP YET'

• and don't forget the sunflower seeds babushka

All of this for an industry that objectively makes people’s lives worse, that everyone openly hates, whose only goal is to manipulate people to buy things that they by definition do not need. And this isn’t even including TV and radio ads, conventional billboards, posters, construction, maintenance, design, all the countless hours of labor spent polluting our public spaces and our minds with the sole purpose of making the rich richer

I am heartbreakingly in awe of the strength of the Ukrainian people.

Some things that really stuck out to me from the coverage I've watched so far:

Ukrainian officials requested that a no fly zone be placed over Ukrainian territory and Russia has not just been bombing military targets, they have been bombing areas in cities filled with civilians - they have shelled multiple Ukrainian nurseries, kindergartens and an orphanage, killing numerous children

Ukraine's UN ambassador told his Russian counterpart that "there's no purgatory for war criminals, they go straight to hell"

A Ukrainian soldier went onto a bridge during battle to detonate a bomb on it knowing he would die in the process

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president has refused offers to evacuate him and is insisting on staying above ground in the capitol (Kyiv) which is currently being bombed and invaded by Russian troops. Russia claims that they are willing to have peace-talks if Ukraine surrenders - Zelenskyy (rightfully, in my opinion) has refused

It is estimated that 100,000 Ukrainians have fled across the border to neighbouring countries so far. Polish citizens have been offering to drive them where they need to go and also offering them places to stay. Women and children have had to leave male loved ones behind at the border as Ukrainian men between the ages of 18 and 60 have been barred from leaving the country in order that they may be conscripted into the Ukrainian army

Russian soldiers on a warship told Ukrainian soldiers stationed on a Ukrainian island (Snake Island) that they were about to invade the island and told the soldiers there to surrender and you could hear the Ukrainian soldiers over the radio saying "so this is it" because they knew they were going to die and then they told the Russian warship to go fuck themselves

There is a video of a Ukrainian woman going up to Russian soldiers and telling them they are cursed and offering them sunflower seeds (the national flower of Ukraine) to put in their pockets so that when they die on Ukrainian soil at least sunflowers will grow

I am so sorry to every Ukrainian for what you are going through. Putin is a despicable man. I am deeply impressed and humbled by the strength your people are showing - I don't know that I could ever be that brave.

does anyone else have a deep underlying sadness that never truly goes away and probably never will or is that just me haha

You know one of the shittiest parts of chronic pain? 

Sympathy has an expiration date. 

If you’re hurting because you broke your leg, people can sympathize with you, because there’s an end-date. Eventually your leg will heal and you’ll be okay again. People will coo and coddle and bring you chocolates and sign your cast because they know that’s emotional labor that they will only have to perform temporarily. 

But if you have a chronic condition that causes you daily pain, after awhile, people get annoyed with having to deal with you. They ask you what’s wrong, and when you reply with the same thing that was wrong last week, or the week before, or the month before, you eventually get an incredulous, “Still?” 

Or maybe they’re not that overt. Maybe instead they go, “Oh, just that. Okay.” As if today’s pain should somehow be fine for them to ignore because it’s nothing new. No need to worry: it’s just the same old same old. 

Let me tell you: Pain never gets easy to handle. It’s not like people with chronic pain develop an immunity to it, or that we stop feeling it. Sure, some of us get better at ignoring it, or better at living around it, but honestly? Most of us just get better at hiding it, because we get tired of feeling like an emotional burden to everyone around us.

But that doesn’t mean that we’re not hurting, and it sort of sucks that long-term pain, in addition to all the other fun things it entails, also eventually comes with a revoked right to be sympathized with, or even just treated like something other than a whiny attention-grabbing faker (or worse: a drug-seeker).

Chronic pain is real. And it sucks. And one of the worst parts about it is knowing it’s never going to end. 

It would just be cool if people could try understand that, I guess.

if there were ever to be a homestuck movie, i would hope to god that the go-to, repeated-far-too-often, trailer joke would be john, standing in the bathtub in the stairway, staring balefully at his cell. “rose, you can see me right. tell me. whats wrong with this picture.” preferably being cut to after a shit-ton of action scenes.
