you’re anthony hamilton. its 1985 and you're blessed with a lovely baby boy with the kindest eyes and the prettiest smile. 6 years pass and the boy gets his first go kart. your boy is special. everyone believes their kid is special but yours truly is. but karting is expensive so you take up 3, sometimes 4 jobs. and it's worth it. your son gives his all to make it worth it. but this is britain so people are awful and racist but he beats everyone and you go over to italy where, oh well, the people are still mostly awful. but for the first time your son actually makes a friend in this sport. on paper it doesn’t make sense, this kid is white and rich and the son of a world champion but he loves your son and your son loves him. they race together and destroy hotel rooms together and you drive them and a world champion around europe and see them win and win and win. and they grow up because that’s what boys do, and they both make it to formula one. FINALLY! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!!!
your son becomes a world champion, and then he becomes world champion again. and the boys are teammates again. beautiful, isn't it? ISN'T IT!!?
years go by and your son can’t even say the boy’s name, but he still says that karting (with him) was the best time of his life, still uses the tricks that the boy taught him. and then you’re stood talking with this boy, all grown up, talking about your son. and all of that stuff matters, of course it does, the championships and the teammates and the divorce, but it doesn’t matter as much as the fact that once upon a time they were dumb thirteen year olds having competitions over unicycles as though that was ever cool, and your son was happy.
imagine being lewis. being BEST FRIENDS with someone and then having people say "lewis never loves (nico) more than when he's one step below him on the podium" like ID THROW HANDS???? and then having your friendship ruined because you love each other more than everything on earth except maybe winning. and then you, knowing that your friendship is practically irreparable, stand there and watch as your best friend achieves his lifelong dream of becoming a worldchampion and then he retires for good. and now every time someone brings him up, you have to collect yourself for a bit before answering and you avoid his name as if simply saying his name will draw up too many memories, some good, some bad, all painful now.
and then 3 years after his retirement, you're chasing him down with a bottle of champagne because maybe in your mind you aren't what you used to be anymore, but it doesn't matter because in this moment, you have a bottle of champagne, you're in your all-white suit and your body automatically chases him to spray him with champagne just like you used to do in the past.
and then fast forward 5 years later you live in the same apartment block and bring his daughter presents and he's trying to be your friend again but there's too much bad blood and miscommunication for you to both go through and you're so close but so far away because you live in the same building but you'll never give him the time of day and he's just become a part of your golden past and no one will ever measure up to what you had with him.
if i was lewis i probably would never be able to function normally again.
(sorry i think about brocedes a lot, this isn't just a charles fan acc)
the car is deffo not helping them and i’m so glad people are realising what kind of treatment williams is giving both logan (and also alex to some extent)
Seeing the instagram comments defending Logan is a refreshing change for once…
it colored me surprised when I opened the comments on the race results post on the Williams account seeing people saying that the car is just awful and and it not the driver’s fault.
HE WAS POOKIE EVEN IN RED BULL, HE WAS POOKIE EVEN IN 2013, HE WAS OUT OF THE CAR TEEHEEING AND BEING OLDER MEN'S LITTLE RAGDOLL TO SHICK SHACK SHAKE. HE IS POOKIE. LOOK AT HIM.
