Words of wisdom by my mom
Hihi, so I was invited to meet with some people tonight at the sorority so that they could get to know me. And this freaked me out because I’ve got work tomorrow so I wouldn’t be able to stay untill after 12 because I need to catch the last train. I kept thinking that I needed to fix a place to stay because otherwise everyone would think I’d no fun since I’d be leaving earlier. Sometimes social things freak me out. So I explained this to my mom and she made it sound really simple. My mom isn’t afraid to talk to anyone which is a really good thing. She said, ‘You have to be who you are, speak up and talk to people. Just start with the person you think looks kind and try and make conversation. About studying or whether or not they have a dorm in the city, or what they do for work. And then go from there. Or if you spot someone who is a bit quiet and more reserved, approach them. And if you leave, you have to leave. Simple as that, you have a good reason, you have to catch your last train because you’ve got work tomorrow. Tell and show them that you had fun but that you unfortunately have to leave a bit earlier. But don’t sit there and not say a word. Try and speak up and make conversation. It starts at 18:30, by the time you leave they certainly have a sense of who you are. You don’t need to stay untill really late for them to know that. Plus, you make up these scenario’s in your head, that everyone is staying untill 3 in the morning getting smashed and that you’re the only one who leaves earlier. In a few weeks, at caranval, that’s the time everyone is getting smashed. Maybe some people have other things to do too, you have a life outside all of this. Don’t put too much weight on it.’

A few weeks ago, I woke up early in the morning and I had this line from the song in my head and I didn't remember where it was from. Turns out it's from Def Leppard and it's a really good song. I'd give it a try.

10/12/17
Hihi,
Yeah so, whenever I feel like shit or I whatever, I write stuff down. To get it out of my head or to get my message out. Normally I write it down but I used to type it out. I’ve never posted it online but I want this to be a collection of all the things that go through my head and how I grow and all that. I don’t edit it, I just type, so this maybe won’t make any sense at all. But it just to ease myself. So today’s topic is friends and social life:
A friend of mine bailed on me on a night that we’d both been talking about for the past few months. I would stay over and we’d go out together and get wasted and just have a good time. But now that’s out of the window and that quite irritates me and makes me sad. I don’t go out a lot, just because my high school friends don’t really like going out that often. Two of my friends do though, but they’re still in high school and made new friends and have a group they always go out with. I don’t really know them that well and I also don’t want to force them to invite etc. I did go with them once though but it’s just a bit akward with them and yeah. Maybe I give up too easily and should give it a fair chance, but yea. I don’t even know where I’m going with this.
Basically, the main problem or struggle that I have is meeting new people. I just started university and I imagined meeting girls that were like me and had kind of the same interests and would get me out of my comfort zone more and we’d go out every once in a while. I did meet some great people though and I’m really grateful to have them in my life. Also my high school friends I really love. I just feel like I don’t really have a friend that likes me as much as I like them, like there is always someone that they get along better with than with me. And that is totally normal and that’s just how friendships work I guess, but I just wished I had a group that would go do stuff with me. I see people at university meeting making new friends so easily and meeting new people so easily, I wish I could do that or had that. It also kind of sucks that I still live with my parents and I always have to travel very far to get to places, and have to leave earlier to get home etc. That makes going out a bit hard since I don’t live in the city and I need a place to sleep if I want to drink alcohol or I have to leave a party early because public transport only goes untill 00:00. I have made efforts to meet new people. I joined a sorority kind of thing and I’m just starting to meet people which I hope will lead to great friendships, but right now I’m not really in the place I want to be. Studying is going well so far and I am blessed to have a family like mine so I have little to complain about. The whole social situation is just getting to me from time to time.
This time, going to university and living the ‘student life’, should be about partying and meeting new people, but I feel like my limited time to get out and go crazy is slowly passing by and I’m just wasting it. I wanna go out and have fun, but I feel like I don’t have a lot of people I can do this with and that meeting people is a bit hard. And that saddens me some times, like now. I don’t know if I’m allowed to feel this way or if I’m feeling to sorry for myself and I should get my ass kicked. But yeah, that was it.

Ok so this post is extremely long and I put it all together for my blogs Feeling sad page but as I don’t have a huge amount of followers I realize so many people are not seeing this information so I’m posting it here too!
alternatives without harming yourself:
holding/squeezing ice.
splashing your face with water.
getting a rubber band and snapping it against your skin (this could hurt, though it’s better than other ways that people usually choose to self-harm).
take a hot shower or bath.
eat something sour. it will take your mind of the urge. (lemon, sour lollies)
massage where you want to self-harm.
get a red pen or red paint and draw/paint over where you usually self-harm.
remind yourself as to why you shouldn’t do it. (scars, harms organs, leave memories etc…)
describe what you are feeling. (is the urge/pain in your chest, fists, legs, arms, head).
killing yourself will not help. it is not a solution.
you have your whole life ahead of you. you have so many more years that you can accomplish things in. for example;
having a family.
getting married.
to watch the sun rise.
to watch the sun set.
to save someone else’s life.
finish school.
get your dream job.
to laugh.
to smile.
to go camping.
travel to new places.
to wake up every morning to the person you love.
friends.
family.
to keep that promise you made.
to accomplish a goal.
to meet your idol.
to listen to new music.
theme parks.
video games.
chocolate.
to be able to look back and say “i made it”.
what you’re going through is temporary.
in case you need to hear this:
you are loved.
you are wanted.
you are needed.
you are beautiful.
you are handsome.
you are important.
you are not alone.
you are okay.
you are strong.
you are worth it.
you are smart.
you are not a failure.
you are useful.
you are going to be okay.

Hello
Hi everyone. I don’t know who will be reading this, but I thought I’d introduce myself. My name is Adrienne, I am 18 years old and I’m a Dutch business student. I started this blog to keep track of what I’m doing, what is keeping me busy, what I want to share with the world and what I want people to hear. So that I hopefully can kind of trace back how I’ve grown over time.
A few things I’m passionate about: - feminism - equal rights - empowering men and women - growth - fashion/personal style - music - memes
Hopefully, I will keep posting and sharing frequently instead of forgetting to.
Have a good day! :)
