i love places that are like DO NOT BE LATE FOR YR APPOINTMENT. YOU CANNOT BE LATE. IF YOU ARE LATE FOR YR APPOINTMENT WE WILL CHARGE YOU ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. then you get there early just to sit in a waiting room 45 minutes past when yr appointment was.

english's pronunciation rules are absolute bullshit poopoo made up crap but one of my favorite side effects of this in written english specifically is like. altering the spelling of a word in such a way that it's technically pronounced the same. but reads very differently when your eyes go over it in written form. and that sort of dissonance between the proper spelling and the altered spelling producing the same basic sounds in your brain creates an unprecedented level of comedy.

the eurocentric mind simply cannot fathom the idea that deserts are large carbon sinks, that they are complex ecosystems that host a large amount of life and a life that cannot exist anywhere else. and that is why they think turning deserts green is somehow a good, or feasible idea. a desert is not a wasteland. the dying plants that you plant on top of it because they cannot deal with the heat though? that’s a wasteland!

Something that I first applied to working with children, and have applied in a limited form to working with adults: you don't need to tell someone when they read your instructions wrong. Sometimes it's enough to point out what they did right and then whatever they didn't do? You ask them to do it in more precise words, and you make it sound like it's a new request. Remarkable how fast things get done this way.

(sorry op this isnt your fault) ok hi hello my name is rockofdoom and i'm here to explain to you what outer wilds is. are you tired of people telling you that this game is really good the best game ever i promise, refusing to elaborate, and then expecting that to be enough to convince you to spend real human dollars on it? this is the post for you!
[THIS POST CONTAINS NO SPOILERS. IT IS JUST LONG. TABLE OF CONTENTS BELOW CUT.]
Today, I'll go over: I. What is Outer Wilds? II. What is the gameplay actually like? III. Why is this game good? IV. Ok, cool. Why the HELL are people so cagey about it? V. Should I buy it?
Feel free to skip to the sections you care about. Let's get started!
I. What is Outer Wilds? Outer Wilds is a narrative exploration game about exploring a solar system and uncovering the lost history of the ancient alien civilization that left ruins throughout it. You play as the newest member of Outer Wilds Ventures, a ramshackle astronaut program run by the inhabitants of planet Timber Hearth, and you carry with you the only device capable of translating that alien civilization's written language. During the game you'll explore various planets and locations in order to find and decipher the lost history of your own solar system. II. What is the gameplay actually like? The gameplay of Outer Wilds consists of two main parts: 1) exploring the 3D environments of Outer Wilds' completely open-world solar system 2) reading the conversations left behind by the alien civilization. You spend a lot of time flying around beautiful hazardous locations, in both your spacesuit and your spaceship (both of which have intentionally finicky controls that require practice but are quite delightful to play with), you spend a lot of time reading dialogue and conversations, and you spend a lot of time thinking about where you want to go or what you want to look for next.
III. Why is this game good? Different people will have different answers for this, so I'll list a couple reasons and details here. First, the game is just immaculately crafted. The art is beautiful, the writing is entertaining and intriguing, the environment design is frankly unmatched. The game provides a robust note-taking system so you don't need a notebook or anything to play it, but it will still often have you feeling lost while you explore the game's mysteries -- which is a delightful part of the game, if you know to expect it. The game's open world is hands-down the best one ever put into a video game. The entire solar system is rendered at all times and flying your ship between and onto the game's various planets is a genuinely stunning experience. But perhaps most importantly, the game's narrative is a breath-taking gut punch. The player is so thoroughly a part and participant of the story, a story that could only exist in the medium of games. It also has the high honor of being one of the only games that has ever made me cry.
IV. Ok, cool. Why the HELL are people so cagey about it? Outer Wilds is often compared to a metroidvania by people who have played it, and for good reason. However, the only thing the player ever gains during the game is knowledge. When you encounter a problem, the solution is never to unlock a new ability or piece of equipment, and is instead always to find a relevant piece of information in order to learn how to overcome the obstacle. This means that learning details about the story or world before you actually encounter them in the game has a material impact on your gameplay experience. Take it from me, a bitch who normally does NOT give a shit about spoilers and whose favorite pastime is re-reading books, knowing less going in is better. So, out of fear of genuinely harming the experience of a game very special to them, people clam up to avoid saying the wrong thing. And fail to explain what the game even is, as a result.
V. Should I buy it? I heartily recommend doing so, but I don't know you! If what I've said here piqued your interest, go ahead! This game is absolutely worth full price, and its DLC is absolutely worth it as well (it essentially adds an extra storyline that really fills out the experience even more, and the game was already my favorite of all time without it). If you can grab it on sale that's great too! However, this game is a 3D game. In a big, physics-based open world. It's not the hardest game to run in the world, but there IS hardware that will be unable to run it. And it kind of pisses me off that no one mentions this. If you're on a laptop or low-power device, probably don't spend your money on it!
Conclusion Outer Wilds is my favorite game of all time, and I love sharing it with people! But also, it is not going to be everyone's favorite game of all time. Because not everyone loves the same things. In my opinion there are few worse feelings than being dropped into an experience that is just not for you by an excited friend who is really emotionally invested in you having fun. It feels disappointing, it feels like you're letting people down, it sours any enjoyment the game could have given you, terrible! Hopefully now you have a better idea of what this game is, and can make an informed decision over whether or not this game is for you. If you decide to play, I hope you have fun uncovering the secrets of the universe! And if you don't, I hope you can rest easy ignoring every post like this one forever, secure in the knowledge that no. You don't have to play this game. Thank you for reading!
outer wilds is on sale. get it now. don't look up anything about it just play it.

You do not owe your partner(s) sex. I mostly see this passed around in the asexual community, and it absolutely needs emphasis there, but this applies to anyone of any orientation. You never owe your partner(s) sex under any circumstance.
If your sex drive or libido is lower than your partner’s, you may feel obligated to “keep up” with them to make them happy. But you have a right to say no, or not be in the mood, or be too tired, or just not want to right now. Your partner(s) should respect your right to say no and your bodily autonomy.
If your partner(s) try to harass, manipulate, or coerce you into having sex when you say no, they’re an asshole. Having said yes in the past does not mean you can never say no. It is not your responsibility or obligation to provide sex. You do not need to violate your own boundaries to make someone else happy. Your partner(s) should respect your right to say no, and if they don’t, they don’t deserve you.
Your body belongs to you, and you decide what’s best for your sexual health. Happy Pride
