Favorite thing about the rewrite so far is making the Lute equivalent (Umbra) seem actually dangerous tbh. She's not just like. The Bitch:tm: or whatever but actually very much believes in what she's doing and is willing to do fucked up things to continue it.

It'll be sad not to see her for a bit as we move into arc 1: Pride, but... Then we get to the genderfluid baddie Lucifer so we take small Ws

Hi! :] For the little edits/changes ideas post have you considered doing edits of charlie with a more gold/blue palette? Something that would fit more in heaven given her character o: that or lucifer with something more violet since that's the biblical color of Pride?

(This was really really fun to do, like making alt color palettes for a fighting game lmao, also excuse the janky pixelated lineart, I am NOT good at extracting it)

I didn't make any alterations to add patterns or anything, just flat fills where color already was. I think they turned out well!

For the pride purple, I added a golden undershirt since I think it contrasts well and all

The heaven design has the original pilot pupils, with a lighter pink blush as more human-ish features on her design. I wanted to keep the yellow pants, but I thought they might be a bit too bright and attention grabbing so there is an alt.

Velvette has been so fucking hard to figure out because her og design is just kind of a human person with red eyes and a lot of her symbols and motifs are the same as Val.

for my design, i decided to make her Frankenstien-y because in life she was always contorting and changing her appearance and personality to be what people want. so it's like she's a stitched-together amalgamation of all the different personas she's had over the years.

Hey, long time no see! Today I bring you the controversy king - Alastor the Radio(?) Demon!

As I already mentioned before, my reading of Overlords is different. They are, mostly, OLD. Alastor is no exception, in fact, he was one of the first successful overlords in Hell, who was once close to Lucifer, Lilith and Eve.

So what's his deal? Alastor's real name is long lost in memory lane. He died around 500 B.C. somewhere in Ancient Greece. He was a shady figure that used miscommunication to indirectly kill people, or watch them suffer. He got away from justice and died while wandering the woods, when a hunter mistook him for a deer and shot in the heart.

Alastor kept using his skills of communication and miscommunication in Hell. He created the first alarming and surveillance systems using his acquired souls as transceivers.

Now speaking of design. Stable parts of his design are deer features and blood stains on hands. In general, I decided that Alastor, when summoned by a mortal, would choose to keep some of his summoners' appearance. He would change it alongside a small part of his personality every once in a century. You know, that's how immortals have fun. His last persona is a radio host serial murderer that summoned Alastor to get rid of evidence in exchange for all the souls of those he killed (except those who went into Heaven) and his own.

Alastor is fascinated by radio and believes that it is the superior communication tool. After he found out it exists, he adopted the nickname "Radio Demon", omitting his previous alias "Miscommunication Demon". He uses his monocle as both a receiver and a mic. So yeah, no one-eyed staffs, everything's pocket-sized.

Ten years prior to the main events, Alastor gets injured during the extermination, and Vox, one of the younger overlords, uses his weakness to take the majority of Alastor's souls and his title as one of the most powerful overlords. Alastor went into hiding for sometime, only to reappear and meet Charlie, Lucifer's previously-hidden daughter...

(Just so you know, this is partially traced over Alastor's official art as most of my first passes are.) I know I have other WIPs but but but but I wanted to start something new :'] I promise I'll line and finish Angeldust's info soon.

I struggled with Alastor a lot. I really wanted to incorporate the cathedral/gothic style of radio into his design because I feel like that's the most iconic radio style. I tried to make it his mouth at first and that didn't work out. The radio eyes are something that I really really fell in love with (I'm still trying to decide if I want his eyes to emote though...). I wanted his colors to be monochrome sort of vintage browns with a single pop color.

Final thing, Alastor is a big mystery of Hellbound Hostel. He presents himself as a good devil, a hellborn, and makes temporary deals with very few to no downsides for the people bound to them. The truth about him gets unwound over time, and I think that'll be more fun to show rather than just tell!

rambling below the cut! (gonna be shorter this time srry)

- first of all hes irish now bc i do what i want. he lived in dublin

-died in 1978 at 67 yrs old, lived through the troubles

- was married

-took up a job as a really shitty magician (hes good at tricks its just that he has the charisma of a mouldy loaf of bread you left alone for a week before dealing with it)

-used his card skills to cheat at poker and spent most of that money on beer

- died of a heart attack

-made an indecent living as a minor overlord by cheating at Soul Poker™ (poker but you gamble your soul)

-eventually people found out he cheated and they got Angry so he turned to alastor, who promised that these people would forget all about his lies if he gave alastor his soul

-on a very tight leash, he rarely gets time away from alastor and has to deal with him breathing down his neck at all times

-technically his henchman

-bonds with nifty over working at the hotel and having to deal with alastor and they gain a kinda father-daughter relationship

-he encourages her sci-fi writing

-supposed to only supply non-alcoholic drinks at his bar but sneaks in real ones anyway

-chronic bet-placer, usually with nifty

-dog sinner bc. he is loyal to a fault (to alastor) even though he doesnt want to be
