something tragic i noticed while replaying living world season 1 is how they changed braham's crush on otillia. originally, when you ask him about her during the battle for cragstead, he says mostly that she's really pretty. but in the new version he says she "really helped him with dealing with his mother". like i don't dislike the change, but i just thought it was so charming and so 16 to have him fawn over her like that

I still remember the streams and the calls each evening

Doing dailies together, running dungeons, playing story

I've never touched an mmorpg before. It was a friend of mine that introduced me in turn. I never played a game with mouse and keyboard before.

I was so scared and so so lost at the start too. I almost stopped playing after the first day because it stressed me out so much.

But it captured me and Im beyond happy it got you too.

Sometimes, I think about how many lucky little things pilled up for me to fall in love so much with GW2 and how easily I could have ended up not liking it─

First, I got lucky that my friend (and now roommate) @/salad-tales got introduced to the game and she talked about it to me. I told her I'm not a mmorpg player and so she could spoil everything to me since I would never play it. This is her talking so much about the story that drew me in.

I got lucky she took me by the hand and guided me for a very long while to play the game. Again, I'm not a mmorpg player and I'm coming from games that give extensive detailed tutorials in-game and a lot of them have a linear narration that tells me what to do next. So when the game left me in the open and I had no indication to what to do next I was already fucking lost right outside of the tutorial fkjzef

I got lucky I chose Sylvari. I find humans boring. I dislike the disdain mentality of most Asura. I dislike war stories close to how it works irl (we already have enough irl) so I'm not interested at all in Charr when I noticed it. I love my son Braham, but goddamnit I often forget Norn exist because I see them as big humans. So I got lucky I chose Sylvari because I would have stopped playing pretty quickly since I'm more attached to story than gameplay.

I got lucky I discovered Tekkit/Blish HUD and I cannot play without it anymore (I mean, I could, but that would be less pleasant to me), especially for the Jumping Puzzle.

I got lucky I was noticed by someone who invited me in their Guild, because... I'm a solo player. I'm afraid to meet new people. My only knowledge of Guild in mmorpg are all the drama or "we were already friends". I don't ask for help, I was far from end-game things. For a long while I was lurking in the shadows of the Guild, scared to say anything and just waiting for them to kick me out eventually. (I'm still afraid to fuck up and I don't participate in a lot of what they do because of that. You can't erase 20 years of "I need to be good right away or I'm a failure and everybody will hate me" mentality that easily) .

This is a lot of little things, but I know that if they didn't happen, I wouldn't be where I am today

I find it Absolutely Hilarious How short-term Anet's Memory is. Did they forget designing Rata Primus ? The fact that the inquest contained and controlled dragon magic WITHOUT Having to have an elder dragon tell them how to do it?

Did they forget how Xunlai's designs were all based on older asura golems and work? did they forget how much buggier and unreliable Jade tech is?

So much buggier and so much more unreliable that that lady from one of the Ministries that goes on a world Tour Was absolutely flabbergasted to realize that Rata Sum has been flying for maybe Centuries and Has never experienced a single Power Hiccup??? Anet. Honeybun, Sweetie, no, The Canthans are not more advanced than Asura kind. They never will be. The ONE trait you gave asura is that they're the most advanced species on Tyria in terms of Magitech. And no amount of having Zojja write differently in her Journal will change that. Stop Fellating Humans. Stop trying desperately to make them the center of everything. Let. Other. Races. Exist. For. Once. You gave the humans the Centerpoint of the Sylvari Expansion You made ALL of POF about human lore and humans. You made the ICEBROOD SAGA forsake both Charr AND Norn at the same time by making humans the pivotal lynchpin in the war over the NORN dragon that the NORN didn't even get to be involved in beyond Braham. And of course, now in SoTo , You've finally managed to realize that other races exist... And STILL do everything you can to stroke off and praise the Literal Worst Race on Tyria. The Colonizers. The " Manifest Destiny But Real " . The guys who did everything they can to push other people off of their land. And then Blew up their Citizens to damn the Land to Eternal conflict once they lost. A fate literally worse than death . to be killed and reformed for eternity. Tyria does not revolve around humans. Neither should the story.

Me thinking about how Braham loves Eir so much. He will never give up her memory, or her legacy. He is Braham Eirsson, and he will never let you forget it. Even after she gave him up to lead her own life, he loves her. He saw how selfless she was. He watched her die to save people.

Conclusion: my favourite PS quest is anything about Riannoc and having 30s quests without him makes me very sad
