Sean's photography is predominately based around coastal regions and so he is also a water photography specialist, using the very best housings from http://surfhousings.com to protect his Canon camera gear. Sean does a lot of assignment work for magazine publishers and the surf industry in general, as well as running an excellent digital archive of Oceanic imagery. Sean also has a business selling his work as fine art photography prints and canvas gallery wraps.

Mahalo Mei, who drove over the island to pick up this beautiful 30 x 46 inch canvas of Pipe Shadowland, which I printed up on Epson’s exhibition canvas and donated to Kamehameha Schools.
Fun fact; this is the very same picture that was used in 2016 as the hero image for the Pipe Masters. You can view the image on my website here; https://lnkd.in/gBTHgynh

Sometimes the best photos occur when you least expect it, like this one which I called “Down The Pipeline” The sun had not risen yet, although it was already hitting the clouds in the sky, which in turn produced this amazing scene at Pipeline. Email me with "Down The Pipeline" in the message bar at info@seandavey for print and canvas inquiries.
This morning's partial solar eclipse, happened here in Hawaii, about an hour after the sun rose and was in its fullest effect around 7.15am. Unfortunately, the eclipse was extraordinarily bright. So much brighter than expected, that the camera sensor had a hard time, capturing the actual eclipse, itself. This was the best that I was able to do with what we had before the sun went behind some clouds.
On this particular day, there was a large bait ball of fish that was bunching up quite a lot, due to some nearby predators. In this particular instance, the fish moved just like a wave in motion except, backwards like if I had videotaped this and played it backwards on TV. Other than being backwards, the motion was exactly the same as a wave breaking.
The last time that I saw a solar eclipse, was back on October, 13th 2004. I captured professional surfer; Flynn Novak boosting an aerial maneuver against a backdrop of an eclipsed sun, during sunset. There will be another one of these solar eclipses here in Hawaii on Monday the 8th, however, it will occur during sunrise this time. It will be interesting to see what I manage to capture, this time...
Leon Mosher was just gifted a beautiful 22 x 30-inch canvas of "All Pistons Firing" - a true masterpiece. The canvas was printed by myself using Epson's exhibition canvas, the same quality that museums all over the world use. If you're still thinking about what to gift your loved ones this season, give them a piece of cool art that they'll cherish forever.
Stoked to share my latest interview with Bold Journey Magazine, where I talk about my passion for photography! Check out the article and let me know which picture is your favorite. Thank you, Bold Journey Magazine, for the feature! #photography #interview #BoldJourneyMagazine Picture by Brandon Ellis.
We are currently transitioning from the summer season to the winter season here in Hawaii and it's just been so beautiful and calm during this process. We've had at least a couple of weeks of almost no trade winds, which results in perfectly glassy conditions for photographing the waves. This location, I've only ever photographed a few times, but I like it because of how close one is to seeing the sun from inside the tube. It makes for some incredibly great looking waves. This picture, I named Amber Kiss.
Sometimes, it’s just a matter of “being there” I was floating around in and amongst the waves, but the sun was disappearing often, which was making it tricky to get just the right shot, however, there were moments in between. It’s shown here as a 38 x 60 inch canvas. You can also visit this image on my website here: https://seandavey.com/shop-galleries/rainbows/rainbow-wave/ I only use the finest materials, including Epson’s exhibition canvas for museum quality art canvases.
I just did an interview with the online site; Canvas Rebels. We discussed how important it can be to step out of the usual comfort zone to create truly different imagery. As an independent art photographer, I'm absolutely all about using those different angles and creative techniques, in order to produce truly special imagery. https://canvasrebel.com/meet-sean-davey/
I just printed this beautiful 30 x 48 inch canvas for Mikey Bruneau, here on the North Shore. I have no doubt that this will become a family heirloom. I printed it on Epson's exhibition canvas, so it will last a very long time. You can look at a wide variety of print at my website, here: https://seandavey.com/shop-galleries/ Email me at [email protected]
Surely, one of the best surf lineups that I have photographed over the years, this is Sunset Beach in Hawaii under a very strong trade wind but also a relentless North West swell, This was actually during the 2009 World Cup, which is probably the reason that we see only two surfers in this picture. The funny thing about this particular image is that it was lost for several years and I just happened to find it a few days ago. I just took an order for a 30x40 inch canvas of this picture. Cheers, Mike. If you'd like to hang this beauty in your home, just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll custom-print you the perfect print or canvas and I won't make you wait. I typically turn most orders around in just 48 hours. One more thing, I sign what I print. Having me print it and sign it, makes the print much more collectible and valuable over time. Finally, I'm using Premo quality papers, inks, and exhibition canvas from Epson, so you know you can trust the quality of my creations. Mahalo
I just completed another podcast this time with Scott Harrison over at Salt Sessions. We discuss my career with photographing for surfing magazines and how I like to "shoot different" Check it out here on YouTube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxFP4ciLcaQ
I just printed and stretched this very cool 30 x 44-inch canvas of our late friend; Mikala Jones, for his brother; Dan. There will be a paddle-out ceremony for Mikala held at Rocky Point, on Saturday, the 26th of August at 3 pm.
Another stunningly different wave image from the Daveys Wavey Gravey collection is this one called Crown Of Creation. The incredible light show created by the rising sun, turned this picture into a total masterpiece.
I called this one Over Easy because the yellow in the sky reminds me of an egg yolk. That and the lip of the wave is over that area of the picture, so Over Easy, it is. You can see more of my waves, here at Davey's Wavey Gravey; https://seandavey.com/gallery/daveys-wavey-gravey/
