"Oh, no, it's fine. I'm not undercover or anything." Zenkichi assures Maruki with a slight smile, waving off his concern casually. ...It feels like he's undercover, though. He often feels that way nowadays, after everything he's learnt since meeting the Phantom Thieves for the first time... it's a ridiculous habit that he really needs to shake off, but maybe it just hasn't been long enough yet, because it's always playing on his mind.

It wouldn't do to become arrogant and start thinking of himself as better than others because of it. He of all people knows there's no way in hell he has the right to think like that - and he wouldn't want to. But the secrets he knows now are so extreme in nature that it's hard not to let his thoughts wander sometimes... Like they're doing right now.

"Ah, I don't know about that. I mean, I like to think I'm pretty sharp for my age, but..." Zenkichi laughs - it seems like he's more making a joke than he is bragging. "I find myself surprised all the time."

And isn't that an understatement?

"Besides, you strike me as the type of guy who's a bit more than he seems yourself. Call it my own intuition."

From the look he'd received, it seemed like Maruki had been right on the money as far as that guess was concerned. Not that he was too surprised, but it was nice to know that he hadn't lost his edge. His perceptiveness had helped him not only in his research and counseling, but in his taxi driving efforts. It was easier to pick up on which people were open to chatting as opposed to who wasn't. Some people wanted to vent, some to brag, and some wanted nothing more than a silent ride. He did his best to deal with all of them accordingly.

He can't help but let out a chuckle at the answer he's given. “I hope I haven't gotten you in trouble for pointing that out!” Was it meant to be a secret? Was Zenkichi meant to be undercover down here, scoping someone out? If so, he supposed he may have accidentally blown the case open. Not that he intended to get in the way of anything regardless. “It's just an old habit of mine.” It had helped him pick up on Phantom Thieves before. Those days were passed now, though, as was the peak of the group's activity.

“If you're an officer, I'd say you're probably even more skilled on picking up on these sorts of things than I am,” he offered modestly. Sure, he'd studied a branch of psychology, but primarily in the cognitive sense, and he didn't use it nowadays. He had to assume his own skills would be rusty when compared to someone who was more likely to survive off of such perceptions day to day. While he was curious about what sort of impression he gave off these days, he wasn't sure it was his place to ask more from him, considering the confession he'd already gotten.

okay apologies for more p5x stuff but like. i want a friendship between toshiro and miyu............... especially since she's the daughter of a politician and ran away from home. there is so much interesting potential there!!

since she was introduced alongside hina, toshiya and yui, i think it'd be fun to put them (+ miyu + toshiro) in like a team/friendship group together. or something. idk where i'm going with this lol

you’re the nicest person i’ll ever meet, probably. with an undying passion to protect those who can’t protect themselves, you’re energetic and bubbly to a fault. it’s cute, watching you run around trying to tie up loose ends. i feel bad for you — out of everyone you know, you probably have some of the deepest trauma, more than anyone’s aware of. this isn’t something that you want attention for at all, and you’d really just rather forget it exists at all… even then, it seems like you can never escape it. i wish you a pleasant rest of your life, full of rippling sunsets and free of prying eyes.

okay haru starters soon but like. i am thinking about villain haru aus for some reason?????? black mask haru???? etc

like i keep thinking about a thread where this villain!haru's self/memory fuses with canon!haru, and she has to come to terms with all that including what she's capable of and figure out what she's going to do/who she is as a person, etc?? it sounds so fun to me. i honestly don't have any ideas for what circumstances would drive her to villainy though, so i still need to work on that.

Haru feels her cheeks warm at Akira's words. For him to want to visit her little cafe... it's such a delightful thought, even if right now, the place only exists in her imagination.

"He certainly is!" she replies then, affirming Akira's words of praise toward Sojiro with a smile. She thinks it's wonderful that Akira has someone to look after him... in fact, she remembers the cold stares and tones of her father, and the emptiness of her own home now, perhaps a part of her is even a little jealous. But it's only a small part of her, and surprisingly, she doesn't feel too upset as she dwells on the thought today. Maybe it's because she's just happy to be here with a friend, or because of Akira's words earlier.

"I bet he'd be happy to hear that. Really, he's been a great help to all of us this past year, hasn't he? Maybe we'll have to do something to thank him some time." He even helped shelter the Phantom Thieves, despite the difficult situation that could've put him in... not to mention everything he's done for Futaba.

"Heh, I'm looking forward to seeing Cafe Noir." He smirked with another chuckle leaving him. He knew that she was a hard worker and wouldn't give up on her dream since she came so far and overcame so many obstacles in her life. Needless to say, Akira was very proud of her.

Leblanc's cozy atmosphere seemed to attract a lot more people lately, coupled with Sojiro's stellar coffee and curry and kindness beneath that rough exterior. It's the little things.

"Mm, I will, and he's been treating me well enough. I'm not a free loader, but I feel bad that he feeds me and puts me under his roof for free, y'know? Not that I'd have another place to stay, but... yeah, I really appreciate what he's done for me. He's almost like a father to me." He's a lot better than his real one, that's for sure.

"Plus, I think he treats you guys as family as well. He's a great guy, isn't he?"
