Glass tower clams
A type of rudists that first evolved "roots" to better hold themself still in reefs , then evolved to connect each other into "towers" that can reach up to 1 meter in height. A very social species , they are known to perform synchronized moves to scare off predators or share food with each other. The bottom members of "towers" are always the oldest and biggest individuals which form base for the rest of "tower". Sometimes those elder members are already dead when "tower" is formed but they still do their main function.
