The clothing world is whole again....Mark Rykken is back.👏👏👏👏
Rykken Returns
I enjoyed an hour on the phone today with an old friend. Marvelous Mark Rykken, my Sartorial Sensei called me to share the exciting news about his new venture, Britches Bespoke. If you’re at all a menswear enthusiast and thinking about bespoke clothing Mark is your man. He has an elevated taste level that one develops only after years in the custom clothing business.
Rykken has the fabrics, the tailors, and the taste to make even pasty old men look good. His teaming with the resurgent Britches is a return to home for Mark who began his career in tailored clothing with Britches of Georgetown four decades ago.
Mark’s suits are modern take on the classic drape, a cut that flatters every man. Nope, none of that too-tight silliness that was in vogue with the po-mo eunuch crowd a few years back. Gave yours to your kid brother, didn’t you?
The Marvelous One told me he will also be offering custom outerwear. Channeling my inner Joe Gillis, I may need a vicuña polo coat .
I own only five Rykken suits and I’m psyched that Mark is back. It’s time for more. Oh, and maybe a midnight blue paisley dinner jacket. Fundraising season and associated events are not far away.
You can meet Mark at his trunk shows in NYC or Washington, DC. I’ll catch up with him this September. If you go, tell him Shelly sent you.
