Today is my birthday. So forgive me for talking about my favorite pokemon in length

Did you know Whimsicott is peak pokemon. It's literally a combo of whimsical and cotton, because it's whimsy!! And it's Japanese name may be a combo of elf and wind, which is also COOL!!

It's both based on a cotton ball AND sheep. It's sheep ties are strengthened because it represents April in the Unovan horoscope, aka Aries which is a ram. There's also a mythical plant that's the "sheep growing plant" (Vegetable lamb of Tartary) which was used to explain how cotton was made in the middle ages and it could be inspired by that.

The designer of Whimsicott is Atsuko Nishida. Who you may know as the creator of Pikachu! She also funnily enough designed my favorite pokemon as a kid, Leafeon. She's a great pokemon designer thats been around since the very beginning. And I got to appreciate her for all the cute pokemon she made, especially the best one

Whimsicotts can be very devious little pokemon. They ride the wind and can seemingly enter a house through a gap, no matter how small. They might move your furniture, hide important things and leave cotton balls in their wake for a bit of fun mischief. Violet's Pokedex entry about it has to be my favorite. "It rides on the wind and slips into people’s homes. After it has turned a room into a cotton- filled mess, it giggles to itself and takes off." Its 2 possible abilities are also either prankster or infiltrator, very fitting ones for its status.

Whimsicott isn't even confined to just Pokemon, being a trophy in the 3ds Super Smash Bros game.

Whimsicott is the best pokemon, it's so friend shaped, it's whimsical, it's fluffy, it's mischievous. I love Whimsicott. To end things off, here's a collection of Whimsicotts I love

i love comparing pokédex entries for the same mon between different games bc almost all of them will be very brief, matter-of-fact, purely scientific without any first person pronouns or personal information about the author. and then you get to the legends arceus entries and laventon’s writing stuff like ‘ngl i still don’t understand this species’ ‘i tried petting this pokémon once and it bit me’ ‘i live in fear of this thing’ ‘man i miss galar. who said that’
