So, there's apparently research coming out now about microplastics being found in people's bloodstreams and the possible negative effects of that and I feel the need to get out ahead of the wave of corporate sponsored "be sure to recycle your bottles!" or "ban glitter!" campaigns and remind everyone: It's fishing nets. It's fishing nets. It is overwhelming fishing nets It always has been fishing nets. Unless regulations are changed, it will continue to be fishing nets. The plastic in the ocean in largely discarded nets from industrial fishing. The microplastics are the result of these nets breaking down. The "trash islands" are also, you guessed it. Mostly fishing nets and other discarded fishing industry equipment. Do not allow them to continue to twist the story. Do not come after disabled people who require single use plastics. Do not come after people using glitter in art projects and makeup. These things make up a negligible amount of the issue compared to corporate waste, specifically in the fishing industry. Do not let them shift the blame to the individual so they can continue to destroy the planet and our bodies without regulation.

Learn How To Craft & Cast Practical Magic
I support and promote practical witchcraft. I like deity worship and self work and cute journal spreads (@arcanas-grimoire taught me what journal spreads are the other day!), but you know what I like the most?
GETTING SHIT DONE
Hot, spicy, fiery, volcano take: Deities of witchcraft want us to do practical magic. They have set a banquet resplendent with dishes of personal agency, power, and stewardship of our own lives. They want us to feast, fingers dripping with nectar and butter. Spirits of the land miss us. They want to know us. They reach for us, yearning: what a wonderful world it would be if more humans would see them and learn from them.
Imagine, before you is a golden palace filled with tables creaking under the weight of treasures. The Goat-Footed Man has flung the doors open for you and beckons you. The indwellers of nature reach out for you.
The system & methodology of magic I am going to present to you is a lot of UPG, a lot of warbly British & American reconstruction stuff, and a heaping dose of "this is what I do and it works."
Please do not make a terrible mistake: this stuff I'm writing is NOT UNIVERSAL WITCHCRAFT BELIEFS (which don't exist). Many, many witches, with amazing and experienced practices, will probably totally disagree with me! If the stuff I'm writing makes you feel weird or uncomfortable, that is a great sign that the way I do things isn't the way you do things. Witchcraft is a galaxy and I present to you how to navigate one single island of one single planet. If the atmosphere curdles your blood, I encourage you to not dwell in this farm plot of the arcane; there is so much more out there, and something will be right for you.
The system I intend to present is inherently animistic, involves working with spirits, involves working with gods, and is suitable for beginners. Yeah, I said it. Get those spirits on the phone, let's party.

I think the most harmful thing to come out of consumerism in witchcraft communities is that people have thrown philosophy, theory, self discipline, history, and introspection to the wayside as skills to develop later. While putting the "need" to aquire objects and tools as the most important first step.
What's the point of all the crystals and herbs in the world if you don't know and understand WHY you're using them.
Oh and uh it blocks out poor and stigmatized communities from participating and makes it a luxury hobby. Which defeats the whole point of it historically being a resource for the oppressed and disadvantaged.

Transiting Venus enters Aries
Monday, May 2 - Saturday, May 28, 2022
Venus is said to be in her “detriment” in Aries, as this sign opposes Libra, which Venus rules. There are a couple of opposing principles at play: Venus wants to attract what she desires, while Aries wants to pursue it.
It’s only for 26 days, though, not even four whole weeks - and for some of us, having a ballsier Venus can be helpful. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? We’re also (for better or worse) going to be a bit more open and honest about Venus’ areas:
Art - if we really like something, we’ll say so; we’ll be similarly forthright and honest if we hate something. We like simpler and more direct art, probably louder music and brighter colors.
Beauty - tomboys rule! We like a natural, casual, “sporty” look. Venus can also veer into the other extreme, namely high fashion like a uniform or armor, and aggressive makeup. Red lipstick. Nothing too elaborate or fussy.
Love - direct, open, and honest. Sometimes we don’t say we love someone, but we show it in our behavior or our body language. The downside of Venus/Aries is, we don’t always want to take “no” for an answer.
Money - we need to be careful here, because Aries can spend impulsively, which we’ll come to regret once Venus moves on to Taurus!
Fortunately (or not), Venus makes few major aspects over these 26 days:
a conjunction to Eris and sextile to Saturn over May 23-24
a square to Pluto Rx/Capricorn on May 27
They both seem to me to be focused on the “taking no for an answer” piece of this transit - not just in love, but elsewhere - perhaps a choice, “you can accept the lesson or you can learn it the hard way!”
Placements in Aries might feel like “prettying up” themselves. They can be a little more responsive than usual, a little less blunted and harsh.
Placements in Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn will be challenged by this transit. Sometimes it’s beneficial for us to be direct and obvious, instead of sneaky and passive aggressive.
Placements in Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius can be enhanced by this transit. They have to make the effort, though, and not get lazy.
Placements in Virgo and Scorpio have some adjustments to make. Neither sign much values bold, open behavior; they have to learn that “bold and open” doesn’t have to come across as “obnoxious and crude.”
Placements in Taurus and Pisces may or may not get much out of this transit. It’s almost pesky for them when they’re trying to enjoy (respectively) their comforts or meditations.

420 Friendly Witch Tips
Just so you know, I’m of age in a state where weed is legal. If you’re not in a legal area or age range, I wouldn’t recommend this. And it’s not for everyone! If you’re not interested that’s more than okay! It’s YOUR craft for a reason! I’ve just tailored mine to me a little bit here too.
I smoke on a pretty regular basis, both recreationally and for things such as anxiety and other mental health reasons. I’ve realized that there are a lot of reasons it has such a calming effect. It could be breath work, could be visual stimulation from the smoke swirls, it could be that it’s easier to let my thoughts come and go without lingering on them. Either way, I realized that I could incorporate that zen into my craft. Here are some of the ways I do that!
1. Moon water in your bong
2. smoke cleansing your space/crystals,etc
3.Visualizing internal cleansing as you inhale and exhale
4. Add intent to each hit. After all, you’re taking a deep breath, why not focus your energy on something you’d like to come to fruition? I manifest a clear, level head.
5. I haven’t quite worked with deities yet, but I’ve seen many others say that sharing or dedicating a bowl to your deities can be something they like, depending on who you work with. I don’t know much about deities, so I’ll stop here.
6. Ashes. Weed ashes can be used in spellwork, similar to incense ash and other forms.
7. I personally like to smoke a little, meditate for a moment, and then do a couple of tarot readings. I find I’m more open when I smoke
8. In reference to number 7, I also bought a smoke blend meant to be mixed with weed (or tobacco but that’s not my vibe), that has things like mugwort, lavender, valerian, and more that’s specifically used to help open the third eye and your senses. I bought through the company called Bear Blend (not a sponsor, I honestly don’t think they know I exist). I chose this brand since it’s a small indigenous run business, and as a small town native person, I tend to support as many indigenous businesses I can.
I hope this was helpful, and remember to please make wise decisions based on the laws in your area. I don’t recommend this to anyone underage or in a place where it is illegal. If you choose to make an unwise decision, please don’t hold me liable. And again, if its not your cup of tea, don’t worry about it! Your craft is for you to enjoy.
