white australian journalists being like “ we don’t really know about police brutality down here :)” as if 432 Indigenous Australians haven’t been killed in custody over the last 29 years- 29 years since the royal commission into Aboriginal deaths in custody. Indigenous Australians make up 2% of the population but 27% of the prison population. The highest rate of incarceration of any group. Literal 10 year old Indigenous kids have been put in prison. The Australian media landscape is too white and too owned by rupert murdoch. We do not have good reporting on Indigenous issues because we do not have enough Indigenous reporters and they are not given any space in the mainstream.
