She was fine with walking, but her feet still managed to pick up an ache by the time they reached Andy's place. It looked pretty sweet, a cute family home complete with a car in the drive - and a cool one at that.
"So - you think anyone's", Circe's sentence was cut off as Andy snatched her by the wrist and yanked her around the side of the house. She just about managed to stay on her feet instead of toppling over.
"A little bit of warning next time would be helpful", she hissed in a tone of annoyance once they were in the new hiding place. Still, she was curious, leaning her head back to try and get a peek around the corner.
It took a little while since they were on foot, but the pair eventually made it to Andy’s house. One glance at the driveway told Andy that his parents were most likely still at home; their only car, which was Ben’s black and green Mach 10, was parked in its usual spot in the driveway.
Andy inwardly cursed, hoping that maybe his parents had been picked up by Providence and were away on a mission, thus leaving the house empty. However, his hopes were quickly dashed when the front door started opening.
Andy panicked, definitely not wanting his parents to see who he had brought home with him, so he acted upon the first thought that entered his head. He grabbed onto Circe’s wrist and all but dragged her around towards the side of the house at a sprint, hiding by the gate that led into the backyard.

"What the- where'd you go, brat?!", Skalamander snapped as he twisted his head around to try and see where Kinjiro had vanished off to.
Sidling in behind the confused E.V.O., Circe just waved a hand casually down by her waist, as if beckoning, before walking hurriedly deeper into the castle.

"The gods and stuff?", Circe repeated, with a tone of disbelief. "...You aren't a Jehovah's witness, are you?"
Tumblr media
Jokes aside, she was getting ever more curious. Seeing as he got lost without a car suggested some teleportation gig gone wrong, but the mention of gods....that was just strange.
She stayed standing, as she queried, "I have an open mind. Why?"

"Yeah… You’d be guessing correctly."
Nico didn’t want to have to brief a stranger on the manner of the world in regards to mortal sharing it with monsters, hybrids, divine beings, and above all else, about how he was a demigod. At the same time, he was indisposed to the notion of telling anymore pointless and poorly thought out lies.
”Uhm. Before I tell you anymore, could I ask if you believed in like… the gods ‘n stuff?”

"It's not family life. But they're the only people that will accept me, not look on me as a freak", Circe retorted. It wasn't even perfect life but it was all she felt she had. "I know you have people that are like that, but can you honestly say that all of Providence don't look at you as a liability, as a monster. Because that's what Providence does, Rex. They think of us as monsters."
Then Rex kept talking. Hurting people. Innocent people. It made Circe think, think hard. Gritting her teeth and balling her hands into fists that she pressed against her head, she snapped angrily, "No-one in the world is truly innocent! I'm sorry Rex. I can't let you go through with Providence's plans."
She didn't know who to trust. The Pack? Rex? But right now she had her orders and she was going to stick to them.

"You lecture me about Providence using me when you’re a part of the Pack?" Rex was having trouble holding back his opinions at his point, just wanting Circe to understand who she was dealing with. "Oh, so the Pack is one big happy family? Perfect life? Van Kleiss is the hero of this world?" He angrily replied.
Even when Circe was trying to regain her composure, the teenager was still glaring daggers. The Pack was worse than Providence. He had Six and Holiday and even though White Knight was a stick in the mud most of the time…that was his family. The thought of Providence using him caused an unsettling feeling to form in his stomach because that’s what he was always afraid of. They don’t care. They don’t see him as a person, they see him as a weapon.
"Look- I don’t want to lie to you, Providence got word about the Pack being up to something. Something than hurt a lot of people. A lot of innocent people, Circe.”

In the short ride, Circe found herself holding on surprisingly tightly to Rex, maybe regretting the whole 'pedal to the metal' comment. She knew he could go fast, but experiencing the speed herself: well, she wasn't looking forward to a second ride. Or maybe slower. But she refused to say it. Pride wouldn't let her.
She slid off the Rex-Ride just before it was deactivated, openly chuckling as she noticed the fact Rex had swung into a parking space despite the fact the ride had just been disassembled.
Tumblr media
"Of course", she replied smoothly, stepping past Rex to enter the arcade, with a strange feeling that mixed nervousness with excitement.
The building's floor, spread out with games and machines, blinking multiple lights and belching out noises that varied from pings to outright krakows, made Circe stop in her tracks however. It was all so insane, all so...loud! But there were a fair few other teenagers mixing around the arcade machines, in their various rabbles and pairs or just playing solo. She felt she and Rex would fit right in.
Ha. The surprised expression on her face wasn't selling that theory.
Rexy? He hadn’t heard that used in a long time. The last user had been Beverly, he thought, and that was just because she was fond of using pet names. It sounded a little weird- though surprisingly pleasant -coming from Circe. They’d been so frigid, and stiff to each other on previous encounters that Rex had half-expected the girl to start addressing him by last name only.
Tumblr media
"That’s one way to look at it," Was the sole response Rex replied; mostly because the E.V.O was focused on trying to relax his shoulders and muscles. He knew that Circe was only holding on so as not to fall off on any of the sharp turns, but that didn’t make it any more unnerving. However, Rex was sure that once they got moving, he’d forget all about it. Burning off fuel in rides tended to put him at ease that way.
He glanced back, suppressing a smile. “You know it.” Then the teenager did just that; he gripped the handles again and drove his foot down. They shot off down the road, with Rex expertly navigating them to the nearest game arcade.
Tumblr media
“‘Kay, we’re here!” Rex called out in just a few minutes. He swung the flank of the hover cycle near the street curb, and the metal lifted a bit from momentum before settling again into a parking space. ‘Course, they wouldn’t need it, but he still liked to keep to the street rules (if only so White Knight trusted him enough to get a real license). Rex deactivated his nanites and stepped down once the Rex Ride had retracted and disappeared.
He walked up to the arcade door, swinging it open one-handedly. He motioned for Circe to go inside. “Ladies first, amirite?” Rex grinned.

Circe held down a smirk as Skalamander started back, not used to having his authority rebuked by some new E.V.O. kid.
"Pah. I'd like to see you prove it", he grumbled. Circe raised an eyebrow and squeezed Kin's wrist, as if to say 'Go ahead'.
