22 Days away from DSE

So, I’m back onto this hell site. Who would’ve guested? Definitely not me.

I’m back here again cause I need somewhere to write down my thoughts, pen and paper just doesn’t do it for me cause it takes too long and frankly I just don’t have that kind of patience or time. So I’m here.

I’m 22 days away from the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Exam. I am not ready.

There is so much I need to study and memorise. There are some many copies of past papers I need to do, but I’m afraid I’m burnt out already.

You see, the thing is, I don’t hate studying, I just hate that I doing the same thing everyday, especially in this pandemic. Omicron is really kicking Hong Kong’s ass and I can’t go anywhere. Everyday, I wake up in my room, I eat breakfast, and then I lock myself in my room for a whole day. Occasionally, I leave the apartment to buy lunch, but that really isn’t enough for me. My only interactions with people is with my parents. I am so jealous of my peers who is so carefree about this whole pandemic thing and just go out with their friends. I really don’t like staying in one place. Hell, I got tired of my school. I’ve spent like, what, 6 years in this place, and it just gets worse and worse. It’s not bad in a ‘ I got bullied and the teachers are mean’ type of bad, it’s just that it’s boring. I’m really interested in English Debate but nobody in my school cares about it because they think it’s too difficult. I really like learning about world policies and social science but my school never has any space for us to learn. I enjoy western media like animation shows, songs and books, but most of the people in my school don’t. For 17 years, I’ve really had anyone to talk about my interest with. Some people think I’m showing off my ability to read English but I just wanted to share what I like. I’m so tired.

I don’t hate studying. I just hate HK’s education curriculum. It’s boring. It’s mundane. It’s crushing.

Gen-Z art is absurdism. Why? Because life sucks and we don’t want to be reminded of it. Whenever makes a joke about the economy we just think about how fucked up late stage capitalism is. Whenever some dude makes a sexist joke about his wife, we realize he’s a misogynist and no longer want to talk to him. Classical art is boring because it depicts tragedies or wars, when we live through tragedies on a weekly basis, it’s lost it’s charm. Modern art is also boring because it’s only considered “artful” when a rich person says it is, any meaning the artist ascribed to it is stupid because they only did it for the check and have decided to hide it. And dark humor is fine because it allows up to cope with our shitty existence but it’s more of the millennial’s thing, because they grew up in a time when the chance the world could be fixed was far greater. But Absurdism is different, that’s literally the whole point of Absurdism, to make no sense. It’s so detached from what’s going on that when we see it we forget our own fucked up lives for five seconds. We have no choice but to laugh because, this thing made us happy, it made us forget life, and so I present to you another piece of fucked up absurdist art so you can forget US imperialism for five seconds.

My friend asked how I learned to cook and the answer is I didn't. I know like 5 things about cooking and they are:

Always use more garlic than the recipe calls for

"Ehhh fuck it close enough" is a great measurement tool

Find like 5 recipes that you like, adjust them how you like them, make them until you hate them

Clean as you go

If a recipe is from a mommy blog, you will need more spices

For anyone not keeping up, Trump held a rally earlier today, told his supporters to storm the Capitol building with him, then went to hide in the White House.

Protestors tore through 4 layers of barricades and are fighting cops to get into the Capitol building. A possible bomb was spotted and the Madison and Cannon buildings have been evacuated while a bomb squad was called in. And just now the Capitol has gone into lockdown.

But also Pence issued a statement that he is not doing anything with the electors and McConnell denounced Republican senators’ efforts to stop counting the electoral votes.

And as I was writing this, the protesters breached the Capitol and Pence was pulled from the Senate chamber.
