andrew came downstairs from the office to give me a hug and seemed really worried about me and it turned out that i had reblogged a picture of a jellyfish with the tag “sometimes i wish i could be this” and while i had meant “beautiful, ethereal, and full of light” he had interpreted it as meaning “brainless and totally free of the burden of consciousness”

You know your school trauma is bad when you can’t watch the Simpson’s Episode “Bart gets an F” without having a breakdown. I started crying while watching it, and I hastily wrote this quote down on in my notes, which I think speaks volumes to the Educational System:
Can we please stop teaching kids that their potential is wasted for life at the age of 7, and that their entire worth as a person is dependent on a fucking alphabet letter? Because this is the kind of identity crisis you leave kids with.

This is amazing- Student Paula always loved the traditional red Swedish cottage with yellow doors. Her sketch (above) would form the blue-print for the one she would build. She worked with natural materials and sought upcycled pieces from reclaim yards - for example, the chassis was made using an old boat trailer.
When it was finished, it was delivered to a borrowed lot. It does not look like a tiny house inside.
The cottage has been kitted out with everything Paula needs - including seating lined with cushions and a set of table and chairs where she sits to eat, read and catch up with friends - after coming home from her job as a nursery teacher. And, it’s wallpapered.
Living completely off-grid, Paula uses the wood-burning stove to cook and heat. She really roughs it- She collects drinking-water from the nearby farm and a hole in the ground serves as a fridge. She also collects rainwater from the roof and washes in a nearby lake. A small solar panel generates electricity.
The ceiling serves as extra storage for important utensils such as an oil lamp and a basket used for foraging and gathering homegrown fruit and vegetables.
Her sleep loft is a cozy nook above the kitchen.
Vintage tins and jars in the kitchen add to the warm, cozy vibe of Paula’s home while providing somewhere to store food. It’s so cute, and I think it has a lot to do with the addition of wallpaper.
