Dirty Art Club - Rosslyn’s Crypt

I found this group a few days ago and I haven’t stopped listening to them since. They’ve got two (brilliant) albums which you can listen to here. They’re just about to release a third on the 28th May. 

(I am now going to explain in very wanky terms why I like this music )

This song in particular reminds me of early noughties Ministry Of Sound ‘Chillout’ compilations which were kind of my ‘bread and butter’ growing up. In particular Vol. 2 was a very influential record for me (Smoke City, Bentley Rhythm Ace, The Herbaliser etc).

Part of my development taste-wise was due to my dad and his love of house music/hip hop. As I kid I not only loved S Club 7 and all the usual nineties faves but also Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and The Avalanches (Since I Left You is still my all-time favourite album). 

Funnily enough for the past year or so I’ve been getting back into this kind of stuff after nearly a decade of obsessing over guitar music (a rite of passage, I think). It’s nice that the two can co-exist within the framework of music taste (lol at that sentence).
