Had some ideas in the car today.
What if instead of becoming an AI, Raiden was actually taken over by Vitallum? He'd be an apponent at some point that Snake would have to fight and convert to his side...
Also I can't decide whether its cooler for Vitallumians to remain mysterious with no features, or if they should have glowing spots that can act similarly to rudimentary eyes...

Just realized I forgot to account for Snake's tail in his weight. So.
Assuming it's about the same size as his arm, that adds another 115 pounds.
Which makes him 802 pounds in total.
Help. 😭
I'm... Oh my god I'm still reeling lmaooo
I decided to calculate Snake's weight because I've already got a height for him (6'3"). And.
Okay so I'm comparing Vitallum to silver conductivity-wise because it's the most conductive metal and with Vitallumians being sentient their thoughts have to travel some way-- anyway.
Snake has had his entire skeleton and left arm replaced with Vitallum. Originally he weighed about 263 pounds, but after his partial conversion he weighs. Lmao. He weighs 687 pounds. Realism in one way makes everything else unrealistic LMAOOO
It's okay though, he's got artificial muscles, they probably adapt better than regular human muscles
Good god this is so funny to me for some reason

I just realized I could do something cool for a potential antag/foil
Snake is a experiment, and normally experiments have trial runs, right? What if there's an escaped Snake out there with a way darker perspective on life?
I could do the cliché evil twin...
I have to think way more about this omg
Ohh I just got a good idea pertaining to MGA. Yes. God yes. Okay I need to draw dark Snake when I get home

I think I'm gonna go with vitallum because I remembered it randomly while driving home from work
I've been thinking about looking for new names for verexx but then forgetting to research my ideas
But now that I have I actually need to brainstorm a bit more
My idea was to make a compound name from latin words, but they don't really seem to go together...
Something like "living metal", but then the latin is like so:
living = vitae
moving = motus
metal = metallum
iron = ferrum
Maybe I should try a different language, or a combination of languages... As it is, here's the ideas I have- (dormant ore/animate species)
verrum/verrous
vitallum/vitallumian
...Yeah that's pretty much it, my brain is full of fluff right now. I accidentally added a poll and can't get rid of it so maybe I'll turn it around and use it

Speaking of lore changes, I'm not really satisfied with Raiden, but I'm not sure what to do with him...

I've been thinking about the lore to Perfect Snake's universe and I'm considering changing how the enemy aliens work
I don't have a lot thought up, but I've been drawing a little inspiration from Houseki no Kuni, specifically Cinnabar's mercury
Like, the Verexx (I'm probably gonna change the name) can secrete a liquid metal that converts whatever it touches, and the mineral itself that the aliens are made up of will have slightly different configurations... So while one type will be immune to conversion by the same type, it's also possible to convert another type to a different type

Redid Snake’s reference image and changed things up a bit!
Also drew Otacon, and... Raiden, just in time for April 30th!
A few things to note...
Tails, because why not.
Raiden’s helmet is actually his face. The front lights up as a display and can show emotes, symbols, and even a digital image of his face!
Also, casual outfit for Snake that was more just having fun designing something funky.
Hmm, and last thing, Otacon doesn’t have a space suit because he only accompanies Snake on missions in his small form.
Throws a peace sign up and fades into the background.

Tentative Raiden lore time!
Okay so some exposition here...
By 2172 technology had advanced enough to create fully sentient AIs. Almost like the Patriot AIs, but they could function independently of other AI. This is... probably going where you think it's going.
At first, AIs were meant to be household helpers. They'd turn on the lights, start your coffee and turn on your shower for you, welcome you home when you open the door, all the good stuff. They're programmed to obey your directions without question.
Then companies started putting these AIs in mobile bodies.
Now suddenly you had AI that looked almost like ordinary people (but still with a certain level of uncanny valley to distinguish AI from humans). People that couldn't disobey. Yeah it's going that direction.
While there were a good amount of AIs treated with respect and dignity, other AIs faced darker problems. Problems that caused an error to surface in AIs' systems.
Emotion.
Fear, anger, disgust.
But you can't have dark without light.
AIs who experienced the error also felt happy and relieved and excited.
At the same time, the few cases of AIs that had been treated well hadn't developed this error and thus couldn't empathize with their fellow AI.
It got to the point where these emotions caused another fault in the AIs' programming. They started asking questions. They were innocent enough, but soon became unsettling. Humans started to react, and not very well.
Fights broke out often, leading to a great number of casualties, both human and AI.
Eventually the governments of the world were forced to consider the gravity of the situation and in 2231 passed a series of laws.
Further creation of AI was now strictly limited. Only a select few companies were given permission to do so. The sale of AI units was completely suspended and made illegal. AIs were declared independent persons and were free to choose for themselves.
Of course, it was quite some time before these laws were fully enforced.
The companies that made AIs eventually shut down or moved onto other endeavors. After all, what's the sense in making AI if they can't be used?
Eventually, as AI became more accepted, these old facilities were bought out by prominent AIs and repurposed.
A highly controversial experiment was started... The conversion of living things into AI. Not out of malice, but a scientific curiosity to see if it was possible.
At first it started with animals. The results were promising, and the project began looking for human volunteers. Raiden caught wind of this and managed to get in.
By this point, Raiden didn't remember much of his past. He'd backed up memories and experiences to external drives so many times, it was hard to recall anything that wasn't important to his current task. It was all still there, but inaccessible to his frankly astounding half-functioning brain.
So Raiden became an AI.
He was able to recall everything with great ease and speed, and while the adjustment certainly was hard, he felt invigorated to continue his mission.
Several months later the computer systems of the research project were broken into and leaked to the public. The project sparked outrage and fear in many circles, and rioters soon overtook the building, destroying what was inside.
The faint distrust between AIs and humans soared, and civil wars broke out globally. Raiden swore to see an end to the fighting, he himself having been a product of the conflict's cause.
It took several generations for a reform to happen. The two sides reached an agreement, and laws were once again revised. For the forseeable future, AIs were only allowed to be repurposed (reborn), and could not be created at all.
Since then AI numbers have dwindled dramatically, many AIs choosing to live to the full extent of their artifical bodies' capacities and not being repurposed.
In modern days, what few little AIs remain have dispersed throughout the galaxy, disguising themselves as cyberneticized humans and continually repairing and upgrading their bodies to live long past their life expectancy.

Hmm... What if Otacon was not a tiny bug...
Snake proposes this and the scientists are all like “Okay, we will make an exception because he looks very polite.”
