Santana looked in her compact mirror for a final time before stashing it away in her bag, her hands coming up on the desk to twist together anxiously. She could not be this lame. Getting nervous about meeting somebody was for the likes of Blaine and first years, but Santana refused to be that person. So she might have changed her outfit once or twice, maybe three times. So what? She liked to look her best, no matter the occasion, and the tight dress she was wearing happened to make her look fan-fucking-tastic.

It was just a study session, that was all. Santana picked up her pen, tapping it restlessly on the table while she waited for Brittany. Brittany Pierce. Otherwise known as the girl Santana had been hopelessly trailing after for going on a year now. It wasn’t her fault that Brittany happened to be cute in those rubber boots, or funny, or witty, or beautiful. How was Santana ever supposed to stand a chance against that?

She couldn’t, that was the truth, and Santana had long ago stopped fighting the ever growing crush she had developed for the other girl. Santana hated that word – crush. She wasn’t a fourteen year old girl swooning over some boy band, she was twenty for crying out loud. Old enough to know better.

Not that it stopped her from leaping up at the sight of Brittany walking into the library, lifting a hand to wave her over eagerly. Santana cursed herself, trying to tamper down her enthusiasm as she slowly returned to her seat and worked on regaining her composure. “Hi,” she breathed out, smiling across sheepishly. Keep cool.
