bratz dolls were so evil i fucking hated them the second they hit the shelves in 2001. i remember the first time i saw them advertised in a catalogue for toys-r-us and felt so insulted as a female, i think it was the first time i ever felt that way . i just knew at a tender age that something misogynistic and nefarious was afoot even if i couldn't understand why i found them so deeply insulting.. nowadays a good percentage of the women who played with them as kids aspire to look like them through heavy make up and plastic surgery . 8 year old me was right
