You know a lot of season 1 shows how similar Sam and John are, subverting the implication in the Pilot and in 1.08 that Sam is the black sheep who didn’t fit in the family and Dean is just like John. But one way in which Dean and John are similar is… crying. Like unabashed crying. I am rewatching 1.21 and 1.22 and keep randomly noticing John is actually crying (also in 1.16). You almost don’t see it sometimes. Sam on the other hand, in this regard, is more like Mary.

i know pk definitely has a post abt this but. sam complaining abt dean flirting with the bartender ("use your upstairs brain!") instead of doing something useful (flirting is literally a technique to get info sammy) while dean literally got them their first and only lead (the strange symbol in the blood splatter). and then sam "punishing" dean into pulling his own weight by putting him on research duty while sam stalks meg and literally watches her undress from "downstairs" after dean had just been ribbing him abt how maybe sam's just into meg and maybe he's "thinking too much with his upstairs brain" (which dean says in a way that implies sam's downstairs brain is into her) like. sam is a hypocrite what's new lol

(also the way dean literally gets ALL the info and lore on this case. yet sam still has to make digs insulting dean's intelligence. as if dean hasn't been working solo for years and doing his own research)

ohhh whenever i see meg 1.0 i am reminded how much i prefer her. she's a completely different character from meg 2.0. same with ruby. the blondes just do it better (i say as a brunette)
