WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE TRUE TO ONE SELF?

The valley of amazement by Amy tan Is about the girl with six finger. She think that she's not true to herself because her parent chose to Amputate her finger without asking her if she want to do it. Having a six finger is not a burden for her, but still her parents chose to Amputate her finger. For me being true to ourself means loving ourself. Accept who we are, accept our imperfection and flaws. We need to love ourself to be able to be true to ourself. Voice out our thoughts and opinion and don't let anyone decide for us. Say what you really feel and what's going on inside your mind. Sometimes, we need to voice out our thoughts even though that truth will going to hurt other people. Being true to ourself is voicing out what we're thinking even if it's against the decision of other people. It is important that we are being true to ourself for us to be genuinely happy. If you'll continue not to be true to yourself for the sake of others, you will not going to experience what the true happiness is. Don't be afraid to show who you really are. People who truly care and love you will always stay at your side whatever happens, they will be by your side to support you.

APO ON THE WALL: The real happenings during Ferdinand Marcos Presidency and Marcial law.

APO ON THE WALL by bj patino is a good poem. It's about the child's point of view about his father and and his father's boss called "APO" which refer to our Former President Ferdinand Marcos. I liked this poem because it gives us Knowledge about the real happenings during Ferdinand Marcos Presidency and Marcial law. Nowadays, there are lot of negative comments about our former President Ferdinand Marcus because of the chaos that he did during his Presidency, especially when he declared Marcial law. But, we should not forget that Ferdinand Marcus also did many things for our country. During his Presidency it lessen the crime but the negative effect of it is that he violent the human rights. I'm happy that I read the poem APO ON THE WALL because I learned what are the real happenings in the past, especially when the time of Marcial law was declared. The message that I got in the poem is to have respect and discipline. I appreciate what happened in the past, because it help us filipino to have a good life in the present. I feel lucky because we did not experience the things that the people born during that time experienced. This poem makes us Filipino, especially the millennial to be aware on the real happenings in the past, because nowadays,people rely on the information that they hear without knowing if what they hear is true or fact.
