Fresh out the slammer x high infidelity is so perfect in terms of a mashup bc the theme works backwards as much as it does forwards - the resulting 'story' being told applies to both Crouton->Joe just as much as it applies to Joe->Ratty in the sense that both times she ended up describing the sinking relationship as feeling like jail, and both times she sorta fell for someone else in her mind before the rs ended

was talking to a couple of mutuals about this. taylor has been nice her whole career. like ofc she’s been in chart battles before, but she’s always been gracious with things like first weeks, and uplifts new artists, etc. regardless, people in the industry are just so comfortable shading her and making sure they somehow discredit her. they all wanna prove that they are on her level when that’s just… not true… and i think 20 years into her career, being the biggest artist, she has earned the right to be petty and fight back. it’s just funny that she barely has to lift a finger to make them move and show all their cards.

like renaissance and eras are long shows because the musicians have large discographies spanning over a decade and loyal fan bases who don’t just want to hear new music, but also beloved deep cuts. it doesn’t come across as unnecessarily long, it’s what fans want, because these musicians have longevity. billie thinks because she has awards that means she’s in the same class as beyoncé and taylor - and maybe she will be one day! - but right now she is not. “i wouldn’t do three hour shows” you kinda couldn’t even if you wanted to. you don’t have their longevity or their status yet!! you haven’t earned it!
