You will not know what to look for, you won't be able to communicate with the fundraiser owners. You will be guessing in the dark. We have told you several times, leave that to us. Do not do it yourselves as you risk either causing distress or confusion for actual Gazans or platforming scammers.

If you're not sure if a fundraiser is legit, do not post it. You're not the authority here. listen to Palestinians for once please

Also, there are some people who aren't palestinians claiming to vet fundraisers but actually are just checking if I or Hussein or another palestinian have posted the fundraiser on our blogs, without even mentioning that we are the ones to vet the fundraiser. We are not losing sleep just so you can neglect to credit us.

Like genuinely not upset that people are working on boosting these fundraisers. that's a good thing. but give credit where it's due please.

I hope western leftists know that standing for a free Palestine is not the end of decolonization. I've seen far too many white leftists who proudly stand for freeing Palestine which is good but then get nervous and apprehensive at the idea of decolonizing the very land they are on. Norway will recognize Palestine but actively tear down Sámi liberation. Liberation for one people means it for us all. If you support Palestinian liberation but deny it for the Indigenous people of the land you're on then you didn't stand for Palestinians or any of us to begin with.

watch for this as you scroll social media this evening:

israel today dropped a bomb on a refugee camp located in rafah, which, as a reminder, had been sold as a safe zone.

remember that this camp is made of tents, not buildings. this strike was dropped directly on families in the dead of night, with no shelter to protect them. many people have become trapped by the burning tents. we don't have a death toll yet, but it's likely more than 50.

the images coming out from this attack are among the most graphic we have seen out of gaza. do not look them up unprepared.

I advocate and love QPRs as much as physically possible but I think it's also equally important for people to understand that it's not the "aroace relationship". Like it feels cheap when people only see it as an option to ship characters who explicitly don't want a romantic relationship as a gotcha moment cause amatonormativity is rooted so deeply within that they literally cannot fathom a person being without a partner or anything and being happy and fulfilled. Queer platonic relationships can be literally anything and are for anyone. Even allo people can have them if they want. They can be so varied and can take on so many shapes and forms.

It's bizarre to restrict them only for when you want to ship a character but they're aroace. Like, sure, yeah QPRs are an option for that, but they are so much more than just an "erm acshcually" moment for when you want to ship a character.

The Weill Cornell Medicine commencement was held earlier this month where a medical graduate from Gaza used his time on stage to condemn the university and its leadership for their complicity in the genocide on Gaza and implored his fellow graduates to stay true to their oath and stand with the hundreds of healthcare workers who have been killed by the IOF. In response the university have done everything they can to minimise this young graduate from speaking truth to power from his own graduation records by cutting away from him during the ceremony’s livestream and erasing his time on stage in the released footage.

My brother is going to nationals!!!

If his team can get funding.

I'm super proud of him and his teammates who have worked insanely hard this year to qualify. By the end of his freshman year, my brother was running a mile in just under five minutes, and this year he shaved twenty whole seconds off his personal record. In the relay race that qualified for nationals, he has been running 400 meters in less than a minute.

The thing about a relay race is you really need four fast runners to make it work. The team that qualified for nationals has two seniors, a junior, and my brother, a sophomore, and so it is unlikely that he will get another chance to go to nationals in his high school career, cause the fastest people are graduating and there aren't any promising freshmen. This is also the only chance the seniors will get, because the highschool has never been to nationals before and they're graduating.

I, and everyone on his team, would be ecstatic if anyone could donate. We've gotten to over $2000, but his coach says the high school is very unlikely to chip in at all if we don't get to $8000 after the big fundraiser this week, which would make going a lot more difficult. I don't expect to have any actual fundraising power on this platform, but I need to at least try. He's so excited about this opportunity and I don't want to see what happens to his enthusiasm and passion for running if he doesn't make it, because he has been putting every ounce of his soul into this team.

if theres anything ive learned about science communication both online and offline its that people love unusually large or small versions of a creature. nothing really reaches across the barriers of age, education, or language like that does. if it has another interesting factor that seems mildly upsetting or surprising but not offensive to broad human cultural norms, that is a plus but its not required because even then for a single moment everyone is like damn, yeah, thats pretty big or small, and then even if they remember nothing else they might remember that the creatures are coming in Sizes. you know
