Summary: You hold a ball, and a man who you've longed despised, attends and graces you with his presence under a guise.

Basically— a Diluc-centered fic with slight mentions of Zhongli, Thoma, and Childe!

— Diluc "The Man Who Scorned You" Ragnvindr and your true love whom you turned your back to and presented with your harem of 8 men against him, hides behind a guise on one fine evening of a masquerade ball you held in celebration of your birthday. He may hide behind a guise, yet you deeply knew his every mannerism, his choice of words, and his familiar scent— one that which you couldn't forget. One that you've loved so much in the past, but not anymore. You could recognize his gleaming crimson eyes behind his mask, you could never be wrong with your suspicions of this certain "Lord from a Long Forgotten Name" that attended your ball.

He had longed scorned you, replaced you, rejected you— or so you thought.

And yet here he is, attending your ball with a fake identity, that which you could actually see-through.

Here he is, asking you, the most benevolent emperor of your kingdom, the actual person he'd choose to spend his whole life with— for a dance. Striding elegantly towards your direction, he ignored the looks people give him who thinks he's being too bold, a "no-one" approaching the emperor just like that. Yet you looked towards his direction.

He stops walking as soon as he reached a certain distance in front of you— crowds gathered round, murmuring and whispering gossips that will circle the kingdom's villages tomorrow.

He gently puts a hand on his chest, and then bowing in a refined manner. "Shall I have this dance, Your Highness?" Diluc eloquently inquires you with a poised and calm demeanor.

Deep inside, he was scared of what could happen next. He knows you've longed hated him. He knows he didn't accept your love to fulfill his father's wishes. But he still desires to see you one last time. This time, at least.

To the Archons he prayed his silent pains and wishes, on the day prior to the date of your ball.

Your consorts are on the guard at the sides, but your most loyal knight, Zhongli, could also sense the identity of the man asking you out on a dance- and so he stops the other consorts from doing any rash action. As much as he wanted to attack Diluc right then and there— Zhongli felt like there is a force stopping him, a force calming his anger down. And so he remained composed, yet alert for the next actions Diluc could possibly make. "Trust Our Highness's judgment. There is no danger with this man," he reassures them. "How could you tell? You are well aware that there's many going for the emperor's head and it's dangerous!" Childe argues. Hearing this, Thoma swallowed a lump at his throat- for he clearly knew that was his job to do, as ordered by The Highness's step-brother.

A heavy pang of hurt strikes your heart the moment you realized the identity of the man who gracefully asked for a dance.

It's him.

But why is he here?

What does he want now?

All Diluc wants is you. Nothing more. He didn't chose the decisions he made for himself- but for his beloved father and people. He is heartfully against the events that happened. But all he could do was accept this kind of punishment, as he thinks that he deserves such- for hurting you and rejecting you.

Now, Our Dearest Highness—

Diluc is patiently waiting with a hopeful gaze and a hand stretched out, perfectly still with shaky breaths that he tries to hide. You glance at him one more time- your gaze filled with hesitation, hurt, and revenge. But it seems like there are feelings that you've also been trying to conceal, don't you?

So, will you accept Diluc's Ragnvindr's offer for a dance? Or will you turn him away like how he did to you back then?

The decision will always be yours, and yours alone, to make— Your Highness.

This isn't a request but I have an idea for an Albedo fic, inspired by Mxmtoon's "Mona Lisa".

I was thinking of the reader working for someone or is friends with someone that many people love, and for once, they thought how does it feel to be loved, to be the people's muse, to be an inspiration of someone.

These continuous pondering day by day were silently answered when Albedo gets to meet you and set his eyes on you. Most people would be just ignored and forgotten, by his turquoise gaze, but you.
