if Shi’al were part of Star Wars canon and got her own show, it would cover her role in the earliest days of the Empire. It’d give a closer look at the Press Secretary that fans got to meet in the Original Trilogy, answering the question of how precisely Palpatine manages to twist her moral code to the point that she became the very same corrupt politican that she once fought to destroy. I feel like it would be very similar to the Obi-Wan show and maybe even Andor in terms of structure and tone???

But like … listen. The opening scene is Palpatine’s first speech to the senate as Emperor, with Shi’al standing at his side. Throughout the speech, there are glimpses of the visceral reactions that those who knew Shi’al during the Republic and are sympathetic to the fledgling rebellion (Bail, Padmè, Obi-Wan, et. al), would have to Shi’al — former GOLDEN CHILD OF THE REPUBLIC — willingly allying herself with Palpatine.

You get to see what the earliest days of the empire were like. You get to see further developments of Palpatine as a character. A central message is “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. Shi’al probably becomes one of the most controversial, polarizing characters in the fandom. Genre-wise, it’s a political thriller.
