Spoilers for Gale's new little pre-epilogue in the Elfsong

but I was hollering the other day about the song "First Light" by Hozier--another Galemancer had Tim recite the lyrics in Gale's voice on Cameo and aside from that Hozier's music is so Gale-coded

Anyway

Was hollering about how, because Ros is a half-elf, she doesn't sleep as much as Gale needs to, so she's typically the first to wake up. She sees him waking up, she gets that moment whatever, whatever, and I think Gale is maybe jealous (?) that he doesn't have that opportunity. Between the fact that he has to sleep 2x as long because he's human and the exhaustion of being on the road (and how well he probably sleeps beside Ros, Tav in general, finally feeling safe), even if he tries really really hard, he just isn't able to wake up before Ros to see her waking up, in that beautiful vulnerable state in the nascent sunrise etc etc

SO TO SEE THEM in the Elfsong, he's up first, he watches her wake up. (In my hc) he is finally rested enough to stay up however long and/or wake up before her--because I imagine Ros is fucking tuckered OUT after defeating the elder brain, and she's not expecting anything like when he asks her to join his family and move back to Waterdeep

Long story short I'm moving "First Light" to the epilogue portion of my Gale/Ros playlist and it's all thanks to that update 🥹
