... and, we are BACK (a day early too 🥳). I hope y’all have been having a good month haha, works been really busy and an adjustment on my end but I’m feeling motivated to learn more and become a better designer/illustrator 😤😆!!! About this comic - I guess there’s a lot of mixed feelings on Valentine’s Day (for alloromantic and aromantic people alike), but I wanted to throw my take as an aro out there anyway 😅 I think that as someone who grew up without many friends, and certainly no close friends, appreciating the wonderful people who are now in my life is really important for me 💚💚💚 I don’t take friendship or kindness from others for granted, and I wish that it was more common to show the same appreciation and care for all the people in your life like people generally do for a romantic partner. I think that was the ACTUAL best part of Valentine’s Day as a kid (bad puns aside, Ofc 😉), which was what I was trying to get at here 🐸✨ As with last time, the card files are in my google drive folder in case some of y’all wanted to print these out (a bit late this year, I know 😭) or send them to your friends 😊 I hope y’all enjoy, and let me know if you do share them haha! I’d love to see 💚🐸
[Image Descriptions:
Slide 1: Celia is standing in front of a table with various pink themed treats. The table itself is pink, and on the back wall are streamers with pink hearts.
She is shown wearing her usual outfit of a crop top and high waisted jeans, however this time she is wearing a pair of ridiculous pink rimless heart shaped shades on her forehead and a very fluffy pink feather boa.
“It’s that time of year again - the dreaded, beloved, apathetically regarded: Valentine’s Day.”
Slide 2: Celia talking to the viewer now, pushing up the glasses. “I feel that as an arospec person, I should have a stronger opinion on it but …”
Slide 3: Celia now standing with her hand on her hip, and her other holding the glasses which she has taken off. “I just, don’t really care? I don’t know anyone that celebrates or gets super hyped up about it.”
Slide 4: Celia talking with some doodles drawn in the background. “I don’t feel like I’m missing out, and (don’t hate me but) I don’t like chocolate … so I’m not excited for sales after either.”
The doodles show her giving a thumbs up to a couple holding hands, and her walking by a valentines chocolate discount sale and shrugging.
Slide 5: Celia looks somewhat abashedly down, “But … I do miss one thing about the holiday now that I’m an adult.”
Slide 6: “I really liked giving out valentines to all my classmates as a kid!”
A drawing of a younger Celia, handing a “You’re a hoot” heart shaped valentine made out of red construction paper,
Slide 7: “The puns and cheesiness was really fun.”
A young Celia, now standing at a table covered with valentines she received. She says: “I wonder what everyone wrote this year!”
Slide 8: Celia gesturing with her arms out, “I think it’s nice to show the people in your life that you appreciate them.”
Slide 9: Celia holding a bunch of pink and red cards, “Since I missed it so much, I guess I took matters into my own hands (again) ... “
Slide 10: A photograph of the “Pal” -entines and stickers that Celia designed. They include multiple drawings of frogs, a cactus giving finger guns, a smaller baby cactus, and a frog wearing a fuzzy sweater. The cards have puns like “you’re such a ponderful person!”, “You are always welcome at my pad!”, “I’m so glad we pricked each other!”, “I will never froget you!”, and “Ribbit ribbit, you’re cool I’ll admit it!”]
