Economies of scope exists when the production of one product or service reduces the cost of producing another related product or service. Economies of scope can occur when products are co-produced by the same process, the production processes are complementary, or the inputs to production are shared by the products.

Economies of scale is not as complicated as people may think. Put simply: As a business produces more goods/services it can leverage its fixed costs (costs that don't change with production levels, like rent or equipment) while lowering its variable costs per unit (costs that change with production levels, like raw materials, labor costs, inventory costs, etc.). The result is a lower average cost per unit (economies of scale). Economies of scale can be achieved by developing processes, training staff, leveraging technology, investing in manufacturing equipment, managing your supply chain, and expanding your market reach.
