Aston Martin One-77 (property — before being seized by Swiss authorities — of the son of the leader of one of the most corrupt governments in Central Africa)
In keeping with its tradition of producing limited edition, hand crafted exotica for the wealthy aficionado, best exemplified by the DB4 GT Zagato of the 1960s, Aston Martin previewed its proposed One-77 'hypercar' at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. 'The finished One-77 made its official debut in April 2009 at the Concorso d'Eleganza Ville d'Este, held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, winning the 'Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes'. Designed by Marek Reichman, it was the fastest and most powerful Aston Martin ever built, with a top speed of 220mph, and also the most expensive, carrying a price tag of £1,150,000. Hailed by its maker as "possibly the world's most desirable automotive art form", the One-77 with its long bonnet and short tail was every inch the classically proportioned Gran Turismo, combing muscular pugnacity and feline grace in equal measure. A two-seater closed coupé, the One-77 featured advanced technology in the form of an immensely rigid and lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis, which carried a seamless body traditionally handcrafted in aluminium. Made from a single sheet of aluminium, each front wing was said to take one craftsman three weeks to produce. Other state-of-the-art features included bi-xenon headlamps with integrated LED side lights and direction indicators, LED rear lamps (fog and reverse), carbon fibre front splitters, carbon fibre rear diffuser, and active aerodynamics with deployable spoiler.
Providing the horsepower needed to breach the magic 200mph barrier was a stretched (to 7.3 litres) version of Aston Martin's existing 48-valve V12 engine. Extensively reworked by Cosworth Engineering, it produced 750bhp and 553lb/ft of torque, and was the world's most powerful normally aspirated road-car engine at the time of the One-77's introduction. Cosworth's extensive re-engineering included fitting dry-sump lubrication, which enabled the V12 to be carried 100mm lower in the One-77's chassis than in that of the DB9. Like the V8 in the One-77's Vantage sister car, the V12 engine was mounted towards the centre of the chassis, well aft of the front axle line in the interests of optimum weight distribution, to which end the six-speed automatic/manual transmission was located at the rear in the form of an integrated transaxle. Power was transmitted to the limited-slip differential by a carbon fibre prop shaft encased in a magnesium alloy torque tube, reaching the road surface via 20" forged alloy wheels - 7-spoke or 10-spoke - shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.
Unusually for a road car, the One-77's all-independent suspension featured pushrod actuation of the adjustable mono-tube dampers, a system more commonly found in modern competition cars. There were double wishbones at all four corners: the front incorporating anti-dive geometry, and the rear anti-squat and anti-lift. The suspension was also electrically adjustable for both ride height and rate change.
The rack and pinion was power assisted, delivering 3.0 turns lock-to-lock, while the steering column was adjustable for both tilt and reach. Braking was supplied by carbon ceramic discs all round, gripped by six-piston callipers at the front, four-piston callipers at the rear. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and traction control were all incorporated in the interests of controllability and safety.
Releasing the driver's door, which swings out and arcs upwards, the One-77's fortunate owner would be confronted by a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, electrically adjustable lightweight memory seats, and dual-stage driver/passenger front airbags. Other interior features included automatic temperature control, a trip computer, and touch-sensitive map-reading LED lights. Powerfold exterior memory mirrors came as standard, while front/rear parking cameras were an option.
Number '35' of the 77 built, this EU model has a legend engraved on the door sill stating that it was 'Hand built in England for Theodore N'Guema Obiang Mangue'. Finished in red with red-piped cream interior, the car is offered with Equatorial Guinea registration papers.

New Mahindra Pik-Up Double Cab Reviewed
Early October 2017, Mahindra launched the updated version of its next-generation Pik-Up in Gauteng. Women on Wheels was there to experience what Mahindra promises will make competitors sit up and pay heed.
In South Africa, bakkie fans have various reasons for their product preferences, whether it be for work, play, or simply the pure joy of owning a bakkie (or simply their love of the model). Apart from its affordability in South Africa’s tough current economic climate, bakkie owners most likely value its combination of comfort and capability.
It appears that Mahindra has tapped into this. The new double cab Mahindra hosts a variety of features to satisfy these desires, with a price tag that should appeal to a broader range of consumers. It now comes with a six-speed manual transmission, increased turbodiesel power with 103 kW, a much more attractive interior than its predecessor and a towing capacity of 2 500 kg.
Robust and rugged, a real outdoorsy adventurer
On the outside, it might look somewhat outdated when compared to some of the other new bakkie brands launched this year, but I like that it’s got that hint of old-school originality quirk to it. As much as I love the look of the latest bakkies out there, the new Mahindra Pik-Up gives the impression of a real off-road, outdoorsy adventurer, perfectly suited to South Africa’s diverse and often harsh road terrains.
The upgrade does, however, give the new Pik-Up a slightly more aggressive and modern look, with emphasis on the front-end styling. The most significant changes to the exterior include a new grille, headlights, bonnet and foglamps. Headlights on either side of the grille are also completely new with a new curved LED daytime running light signature, or “eyebrow” as Mahindra names it, for the top-of-the-range S10 derivative.
Convenience and comfort
I had quite a lot of time inside Mahindra’s new Pik-Up while driving from Lanseria International Airport to Magaliesberg. While we usually pair up or have at least one driving ‘buddy’ on launches, I was assigned to my vehicle without a driving partner. At first, I was somewhat apprehensive about having to navigate myself in a car I’d never driven before, but it didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable and confident. In fact, I rather enjoyed having the cabin to myself as I could take in all that it had to offer, without any distractions. I was also grateful for the S10’s built-in Navigation system that directed me through every town and highway road, very precisely and timely.
Seating positioning in the new Pik-Up is raised and you sit pretty high up, while visibility through the windows is unobstructed. Seating is further made comfortable thanks to improved upholstery and the flagship S10 derivative adds driver convenience with a multi-functional steering wheel, as well as remote central locking and cruise control.
Driving impressions
Mahindra’s new Pik-Up’s six-speed manual gearbox driving rear wheels is what I enjoyed the most during my test drive. Gear-changing is efficient and smooth, while its in-gear acceleration and pulling power are sufficient. It has an updated 2,2-litre four-cylinder mHawk turbodiesel engine with an impressive torque of 320 N.m which is reached at 1 600 r/min.
The entire range of the new Mahindra DC bakkies is fitted with an electronic Locking Differential as standard, so there’s no need to sit and fiddle with buttons or to wait for activation lights during your off-roading excursions. We had a quick go at some off-roading with the new Pik-Up once we reached Magaliesberg and although the terrain going uphill was extremely uneven and rocky, I remained pretty comfortable and solid behind the wheel.
Safety conscious
Mahindra’s done a good job at providing enough safety features as standard on some models, to give someone like myself, a somewhat neurotic and safety-consciously minded driver, peace of mind. These include ABS, EBD, Dual airbags, Crash protection crumple zones and a Collapsible steering column.
They’ve also added three headrests for backseat passengers, three-point seatbelts, as well as two ISOFIX anchor-points at the back of the Double Cab S10 models.
The new Mahindra Pik-Up might not be as refined as bakkies like the Ford Ranger or the Volkswagen Amarok, for example, but it’s certainly a great alternative to the bigger players and for customers looking for a more affordable bakkie capable of heavy loads and off-roading adventures.
Pricing
The Mahindra double cab pricing includes a 4 Year /120 000 km Warranty and roadside assistance, and a 5 Year / 90 000 km Service Plan. Services are at 20,000 km intervals or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

Coachbuilt Chrysler PT Cruiser Embraces Vintage Car Styling
Love them or hate them, most of us will remember the public release of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, with the first models hitting production lines in early-2000 for the 2001 model year. The retro-styled compact car certainly made waves. During the PT Cruiser’s 10-year run, Chrysler made 1.35 million models to keep up with public demand, a surprising number to those who love to loathe them.
Hurtan, a coachbuilding company set in Spain, embraces the PT Cruiser’s retro styling and bumps up the vintage vibes. While PT Cruiser designer Bryan Nesbitt (who also designed the Chevrolet HHR), shaped the PT Cruiser to take styling cues from 1930s vintage cars, Hurtan takes the overall design a step further.
Hurtan’s coachbuilt PT Cruiser, named the “Author Berlina,” is offered in sedan or convertible body styles. The rounded roofline is reminiscent of the original production car, but then the lines flow into a pre-war body style with pronounced fenders, a vintage Bugatti-like grille, rounded headlights, fog lights and taillights, and a continental kit in the rear.
The interior received a more luxurious revamp with many traits of the original PT Cruiser still evident. We assume that by contacting the company, customers can specify specific options for customization to make the car their own.
According to the website, electric windows, power steering, air conditioning, and a dual airbag are all included. Available drivetrains include a 116-horsepower 1.6-liter engine or a 150-horsepower 2.2-liter CRD diesel engine, both paired with manual transmissions, and a 143-horsepower 2.4-liter gasoline-powered engine with the choice between an automatic or manual transmission.
Poking around on the website didn’t reveal much for pricing, but a previous report by Motor1 stated that the pseudo–Art Deco PT Cruisers start at around $40,000, which is arguably a fair price for a luxury coachbuilt vehicle.

Nissan Great Turbulence PART3
Nissan's direct injection explosion!
I've been waiting for NEO Di engine 11.2km/ℓ
The first is a V6, 3ℓ mounted on the Leopard.
Nissan is fine. Based on the 2ℓ engine SR20DE, I thought that the SR20VE with variable valve timing and lift mechanism was released.
This was born with the debut of Cefiro, and is now based on Nissan's representative V-type engine, the VQ30DE, and the VQ30DD.
Appearance.
The specs are a maximum output of 230 horsepower/6400 rpm and a maximum torque of 300 kgm/4000 rpm.
It is powered up from the 220 horsepower of the base VQ30DE. Torque has also improved by 1.5km, and it is clear that direct injection will become the mainstay of the VQ30 series.
Of course, fuel efficiency is also improved. Compared to 9.1km/l in the previous 10-15 mode, it has improved greatly to 11.2km/ℓ. It can be said that this is the power of direct injection.
The car model equipped with this direct injection engine is Leopard. It is a vehicle that makes up Nissan's L-class saloon, but with this direct-injection engine installed, it will inevitably attract more attention than it does now.
Minor changes were also made to the Leopard in line with the installation of the direct-injection engine this time. The exterior has a sporty image, such as the smoke-plated front grille. Furthermore, dual airbags and ABS have always been standard equipment.
However, I am happy that the side airbags, which were an option, are now standard equipment for all models. In addition, a 4WD model with a 2.5-liter 2.5-liter engine and a new grade Gran Sport were newly added.
By the way, this Leopard equipped with a direct injection engine is priced at 3,720,500 for the base XR.
The front grille has undergone minor changes, and the grille of the GranSport has a smoked mesh treatment....
There are no changes in the form from the rear view. XR with direct injection starts at 3,725,000 yen
