YES THEY DO.....yes they do. for splatoon 3 theyre in usernames + splashtags and theyre just in usernames for splatoon 1 and 2. here's a (sloppy) guide i made for my friend for (some of) the splat 3 characters

(some names are also from lobby players you get when youre offline... buuuut i typically dont go by those cause there's usually a better alternative, unless youre agent 8 lmao)

in official merchandise theyre usually referred to as the species + gender (splat 1+2) or species + ink color (splat 3) (ex. veronika is referred to as inkling (yellow))
