“ Because I don’t want my daughter fighting a battle she cannot win. In a scenario where all three of us are confronted by Salem, I’d much prefer if you were to take Gale and run while I fight Salem instead, distracting hre so that you may get away- I would not allow myself to end up dying, of course. I would never allow myself to die on the both of you. But I feel it to be far wiser if you were to leave fighting Salem to me in order to protect Gale and to preserve your own life. As again, you cannot even properly heal and you cannot even use magic either. Whilst I have a whole millennium of magical experience under my belt. ”
Elvira says, looking at Nera with a serious face. She knew Nera wouldn’t like this much, but to Elvira it was the wisest thing to do. To let her fight Salem instead whilst Nera took Gale and ran. Elvira wasn’t the self sacrificing type, but in situations like this there weren’t many options.

Elvira nodded as Nera asked her whether she was certain about Nera knowing this.
“ I am certain about you knowing this, dear. It’s really not a big deal for me. I’ve long moved on. And as said, I think you deserve to know. ”
Elvira smiled before she returned to being more serious, now truly beginning to explain the answer to the questions Nera had asked.
“ But anyway, to answer that- I come from another world, as you may have figured. A world in which there were two lands, a land for humans, and one for witches. They were respectively called the Land of Humans and Land of Witches respectively, rather lazy names if you ask me but that’s besides the point. It was a world in which humans and witches- who could cast magic- were separated, even though the only difference between them was the capability to cast magic and the fact witches could live indefinitely unless killed. But humans fear what they do not understand, so of course things turned out that way. ”
Elvira soon put her hand on her chin as she paused inbetween answers, due to the fact it was a long story regarding how she got to this world to begin with.
“ Where to begin on how I got here exactly...hm...It was indeed via magic, yes. I was...around a hundred years old at the time and I’d just processed all of what I’d gone through, and decided I wished to leave my world and go elsewhere in order to experience new things. To leave behind the past for good as well as my rather lackluster homeworld. And that’s what I did. I was- and still am- the most powerful witch of my world, after all. Tinker a little with magic that a normal witch would have nearly died to try and cast and...here I am! Well, I didn’t exactly send myself to another world- instead, I transferred myself to the sea inbetween worlds. A traversable void of black with various bubbles containing worlds within them littering the space. And after transferring myself there, I could go wherever I wanted- after all, there isn’t any gravity there, so I could just float around till I found somewhere I liked. Your world is one of hundreds I have visited so far. I’ve been traveling worlds for over nine centuries now after all~. ”

"Grandma!" Gale holds Elvira's hand and smiles looking up at her. "Can we practice more magic today? I wanna be better."
Tumblr media
Elvira blinks as the little girl grabs her hand so suddenly, looking at her in confusion for a brief moment until she said that, making the purple haired witch smile softly. " Of course we can, dear. So long as you're ready for more of my strict teaching. " Elvira could be rather strict whilst teaching, but she was like that out of a wish to help Gale become better, for magic was a difficult art to master. But she believed in Gale and her capability to master her magic someday. For now, however, she would continue to help her train best she could.

"M-Mom?" Nera appears somewhat nervous as she approaches Elvira. "Can... can I ask you something?"
She hesitates for a moment, lowering her head. "Is... Is it normal for girls to like... other girls?" There's blush forming on her face. "L-like... as more than friends?"
(She's probably around... twelve/thirteen at this point?)
Tumblr media
Elvira blinks a few times in surprise, never expecting for Nera to come to her about this. But she then simply grins and nods as she responds.
" Of course it is, dear! There are many young ladies like you out there who also like other young ladies, and it's completely fine. In fact, I like other girls myself! It isn't anything to be ashamed of. Though you must tell me who the lucky girl whose managed to get my wonderful daughter to fall for her is, if there is any! "

(Before Volume 1) While they were out shopping, little Nera quickly stopped and tugged on Elvira's sleeve to get her attention. The small faunus child was pointing at the bakery window display, which was full of sweet treats. She looked like she wanted some.
Tumblr media
Elvira looked down at the little girl who had just pulled on her sleeve, the witch looking up to see what it was she had so wanted Elvira to see, her eyes widening slightly as she took in the revelation. Nera wanted some sweets. A smile quickly took root on Elvira's expression as she chuckled and put her hand on Nera's head affectionately.
" You would like some sweets, dear? Of course. Come now, let us go get some for you. "

Nera approaches Elvira and gently hugs her, sighing softly as she tries to relax. The paranoid feeling still hadn't gone away, but it eased a little when she was in Elvira's presence.
"I feel like I don't say this enough anymore, but... thank you. For everything you've done for both me and Gale." Tears seem to well up in her eyes for a moment. "....Mom."
Tumblr media
Elvira's gaze softened as Nera hugged her, a smile on her face as she gladly hugged the woman whom she considered her daughter back, petting her little comfortingly.
"There is truly no need to thank me, dear. I am simply overjoyed that I have been able to provide you both with a good life. I will always be here for both of you, no matter what."
And she meant that. Given her immortality, while she would indeed have to watch Nera and Gale die, she would also be able to be there with them for the entirety of their lives. And the latter fact was what mattered to her, that she could be there for them until their last breath.

The purple haired witch was unfazed by the actions the man had taken, a grin still present on her face as once he’d begun to speak it allowed the witch to tell that he had gone behind her and for her to turn to him rather quickly.
“Interesting little trick, but ‘fraid I’m not particularly that impressed. My people can do things like that and more far beyond your wildest imagination. I could give you a demonstration; however...I don’t know if you would find it particularly enjoyable.”
She was completely and utterly fearless; some could perceive it as foolish, but others who knew her capabilities would probably know she wasn’t being an idiot; she knew when she was outmatched, which she could she was not by any means outmatched in this potential battle. So instead, she chose to mess around with the man a bit, clearly backhandedly threatening him as she even winked to just make it more irritating.
