warnings: mention of elm street but briefly
AN: I got a week. I ain’t gonna make it. So here we are.
I hung up the phone and ran my hand down my face. Tina had just gotten back from the hospital, Rod’s service was next week and Nancy had just been admitted to another hospital. I took the sheet of paper and pinned it to the board next to the fridge. I left a note for my parents saying I would be over at Glen’s for the night. All our friends were suffering and we were the only ones left. I picked up the phone to make sure he was still home.
“Glen?” I heard a chuckle on the other end and smiled in spite of myself.
“Just got off the phone with Tina. You get the call too?” I leaned against the wall as I played with the cord.
“Yeah. Nancy’s mom called me. Wanted to talk to my parents. They aren’t home right now.” I looked out the window at the garden my mom was trying to cultivate. “How are you doing? Must be quiet without Rod around over there.” There was a sigh and I heard a door close.
“Not quite yet. Rod’s folks are over. Collecting his stuff.” I sighed too. “You coming over later?”
“Yeah. If you’ll have me.” I ran a hand through my hair. “I can stay home if you’d rather come here.”
“Nah. Don’t want your parents in a pickle. Besides it’ll be nice to have someone over. It’ll be like old times.” We settled into a comfortable silence. “You going to head over soon?”
“Yeah. I’ll be there in twenty. Love you.”
“love you too.” I hung up and went to pack a bag. I threw it into my car and set off for the apartment building. I buzzed Glen and waited for the door to open. Once it did, I climbed up to the apartment. The door was already open and Glen was waiting for me.
“Hey.” He took my bag and pressed a kiss to my cheek. “Rod’s folks just left. Now it’s just quiet.” I took his hand as I followed him into the apartment.
“Don’t forget you’re always welcome at my place. My parents rarely ever give you a hard time.” He tossed my bag to the side of his desk and sat down on his bed. Laying back, Glen turned on the tv and held his arm open for me. I laid down next to him and put my head on his chest. “It’ll get you out of here for a bit.” A kiss was pressed to the top of my head.
“Something is happening to everyone except us.” He muttered. “I kind of like it that way. Hopefully it’ll stay that way.”
“I wish nothing had happened to any of us.” I shot back. Glen nodded and absently drew circles on my back. We settled into a comfortable silence as we watched whatever show he had put on.
“Why don’t you move in with me?” Glen finally asked. “I know it’s shit timing with Rod just…” I looked up at him and nodded. “But it wouldn’t be as quiet and it’ll give you the opportunity to finally move out of your parents’ house.”
“I’d love to.” He smiled as he leaned over to kiss me.
