okay full disclosure I will talk about bsd all the time I fucking love talking about it I have to many thoughts thank you. Having said that

akutagawa and dazai - don’t ship it

why don’t you ship it - the answer is twofold. For one, I find it very hard to get invested in ships involving characters I dislike and I am like dazai hater number one. I just, he’s not my type of guy at all and I cannot stand him and his don’t fall victim to his sad backstory. Also I don’t know I don’t love their dynamic, it’s not that something being deeply toxic necessarily disqualifies me from liking it, sometimes that’s fun, but akutagawa and dazai kind of gets to too much of a point where I don’t love it. I fully understand how important dazai is to akutagawa’s character, but I’ve never seen any aspect of their dynamic as romantic, at least not in any sort of reciprocal sense

what would have made you like it - idk I feel like the story would’ve had to have been sooooo wildly different for me to like it, there’s just too many factors working against it

despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it - I do think they are both wildly important to each other and their development as characters and they’re both very important stepping stones in each others journeys

what made you ship it - so I’m not like a strong skk guy, I just don’t care much and wouldn’t seek out fics or art abt it (it’s the dazai thing) but I cannot deny that they are real. Like I know it happened, I know it in my heart and I do not deny that they’re in love in their own fucked up weird way, but I just don’t devote a lot of time thinking about them

what are your favorite things about the ship - I like when guys who hate each other kiss sloppy style about it (and maybe they don’t actually hate each other)

is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship - honestly just that I don’t care about them that much. Like they’re one of the biggest ships in the fandom and I give them very little thought

what made you ship it - just the everything about them. I am a sskk guy until I day I could talk about them for ages I am obsessed with their simultaneous silly guy hatred of each other and deep important thematic relevance. Like there’s something about how they understand each other so deeply and that’s why they hate each other at first and the way they both determine what makes them allowed to live, and, and (I could talk about them forever but I am stopping now lest I get to the point where I must be sedated)

what are your favorite things about this ship - COLOR SYMBOLISM, I’ll never get over the black and white and how the colors switch when they use their abilities together and how the small appearances of the other color in their designs and just oh my god I love them. I also love their silly little snarky dynamic like I just can’t put into words how much they captivate me

is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship - I don’t think so???? I’m not super into the bsd fandom just because it feels bigger and I get scared, so I don’t know what’s unpopular or not. Idk man I just like them
