one of my favorite ichikuu comics i’ve read was this one that took place on ichiro’s birthday where jiro, saburo and samatoki all met up at the same place to give ichiro a gift for his big day and kuukou coincidentally happened to just be in the area lmao

jiro, saburo and samatoki were all flexing on each other over their gifts, ‘cause obviously theirs was the superior gift and kuukou was literally there just like, ‘wtf are these guys going on about’ lol so when ichiro finally shows up, he receives his gifts with a grateful smile and that’s when kuukou finally gets a clue lmao and goes, ‘today’s your birthday ichiro??? well damn why don’t we hangout together and have some fun like we used to??’

and ichiro just starts glowing lmao and very happily accepts kuukou’s invitation and they walk off together leaving jiro, saburo and samatoki shook that apparently the best gift for ichiro was kuukou’s friendship LOL

so in his birthday line, his dad seems to have caught him trying to skip out on his chores and he’s very grumbly about it lol so he calls the mc over and since it’s his birthday, he tells them to bring him some cleaning appliances that’ll make cleaning easier lol

hitoya, after calling kuukou a shitty monk lol offers to hang out with kuukou. kuukou must be like why??? because hitoya goes, ‘huh? ‘cause it’s your birthday’ and says they should go out to eat something kuukou likes. line number two has hitoya calling kuukou a corrupt monk 😌 and he offers to buy kuukou a anything he wants as a present. within reason of course lol

i’m kicking off hypmic month here by kinda stealing from the hypmic twitter and talking about one character a day, starting with rei!! once i’m done, i’ll talk about hypmic in general and i may or may not give a go at the chuuoku ladies after that, we’ll see lol

First impressions: wow who tf is this guy disrespecting ichijiku like this????

Current impressions: he lucky he’s one of, if not the, most interesting characters in hypmic otherwise i’d find a way to beat his deadbeat dad ass *grumble grumble*

lol rei has been in my sights since his very first appearance and i guess that says something about his character and how much he stands out amongst the cast. ‘cause he really is interesting! any time i’m sitting down and thinking about him and what he’s about, i could lose an hour of my day speculating. just yesterday i was wondering whether or not rei really meant what he said about ichiro’s achievements based on the new information we got from the updated profiles. he doesn’t always says what he means but he makes sure to keep his promises like!!!! why is he such a conundrum of a man!!!!!! i vibe with both sasara and rosho when it comes to rei; he’s a funny guy but he’s also really sus!!

Favorite thing:

i like his air of intrigue. he has a lot of cards on the table and we only know what’s in play. it feels like we’ll never really know everything about him and what he’s doing. that’s really neat; he’s never going to be a stagnant character, even if hypmic’s writing may or may not do him dirty

Least favorite:

fuckin dead beat ass father only showing up to take jiro and saburo away after ichiro did all the hard fuckin work to bring the together and raise them fuck you man

he’s not a very good father 😞

What i want to see from this character:

what don’t i want from rei?? i mostly wanna see how the story treats him. he’s mc mastermind and i wanna see him really come into that name. but i also want to see the story punish him; not necessarily for his plans, just more for conflict and how he’s going to have to overcome it when his plans go awry. i also would like to see him in his gold tracksuit asdfjkkkjfds

Favorite moment:

ahhh, his and sasara’s banter with rosho in helter skeleter when rosho came home to see them just chilling and drinking when they had clearly broken and entered his home. probably the only part of that drama track that didn’t give me anxiety lmao

A Headcanon:

hhhhhhh i have a lot and i talk about a lot of them in my thinking tag. uhhhhhhhhh how about he’s actually blind in his scarred eye and he used to have blue green heterochromia like saburo. idk if I’ve made that a specific post or just stuck it in the tags but it’s a lighthearted hc

Ships:

none that i’m crazy about! i don’t mind seeing him sasara, hitoya, and ramuda!! there needs to be a liiittle more trust on rosho’s side for me to want to ship them and i would like to learn more about his and gentaro’s relationship before shipping that as well!
