#fave spotting #nicholas courtney #brigadier lethbridge stewart #the saint #doctor who #classic doctor who #the abductors #1965 #itc #classic tv #seen here with his colleagues in crime‚ the great Dudley Foster and David Garfield #Garfield will be familiar to DW fans for his memorable turn as Von Weich in The War Games #Nick had made a Saint appearance just six months earlier in 3.14 (The Contract; follow the fave spotting tag to see) but where that was #an uncredited walk on with one or two short lines‚ he gets something much meatier here. he's the tip henchman to Foster's villain and #gets to do all the really nasty stuff like beating up Annette Andre or beating up Jennifer Jayne or trying to beat up Roger Moore (better #luck next time on that one Nick). whether his star had risen by any particular distance between episodes isn't really clear from his #imdb page; it wouldn't be until the end of the year that he would start appearing in The Daleks' Master Plan‚ although Dougie Camfield #had apparently wanted him for Richard the Lionheart in The Crusade. mostly he was doing minor guest work at this point in his career #but this stands out i think as a real significant part in which he can stretch his acting chops and be just horrible #and the french accent? not bad! a damn sight better than Foster's Welsh accent i am sorry to say #wisely‚ Garfield doesn't seem to have attempted any accent whatsoever. the right call.
